Stone Riders MC #1

Where We Started

Rate this book
Usually, watching a notorious biker club mourn the loss of their beloved president would be a dangerous choice.
Ten out of ten do not recommend.
Unless of course, you’re family.
I didn’t really consider myself part of my father’s legacy, until I found out what he left behind in his will. Ten acres of property, which included the headquarters for his beloved motorcycle club.
I had no idea that by accepting the terms of my inheritance it would thrust me into a battle with the new club president.
Wesley Ryan was unfathomably handsome, menacing and formidable in every way. But his derision toward me only made me cling that much tighter to my birthright.
That is until he decided to play dirty.
Wes didn’t just taunt me by bringing up our past, he wanted us to go all the way back to where we started.
Back to when we were nine and I was just the girl next door who snuck into his treehouse.
Back to when he’d fight the boys who made me cry.
Back to when he first kissed me and stole my heart.
I had to remember Wes wanted to claim my father’s property, not me.
I walked away once, I just had to prove I was strong enough to do it again.

Simply put, I just don't think this is my kinda book.
I should've known with it being a second chance romance that it wouldn't be up my alley, but I was intrigued enough by the setting and storyline to give it a go.

I realise some of these things are definitely me-issues and might not necessarily be book issues. I'm not a person where forgiveness comes easily, I don't really do second chances. It might be the virgo and scorpio in me, or just how I protect my peace idk. That said, reading a second chance romance, I will be needing tons of grovelling, growth and a lot of communication for it to work for me.

Every time they were about to be serious and talk about their past issues, the mmc pulls some joke about his cock being in her mouth or try to make things physical. Honestly, good for you that you’re that attracted to each other, but you still have issues to talk about? While the fmc was drooling all over his abs, I was still hurting over their past.

All the man did was play the victim card, not even understanding how his actions played into their breakup and when she finally put her thoughts out there, he never even apologised, gave any sort of explanation or understanding of her feelings. (Sure they were interrupted in that scene but I feel like it should’ve come up later on at least) And that's only for their past grievances. In the present timeline, this man continued do be a complete asshole to her. To some extent I can understand his reasoning behind his actions, but I do expect at least an apology.
Like this man lowkey slutshames her for being with 3 men over their 7 year break, and they just brush past it?

And lets not even talk about how her father gets glorified as some sort of legend after death, when all this man has done is give her trauma. Cause that pisses me off. Having his club members come up to her saying shit like 'he saved me from a bad situation'. It doesn't negate the fact that he was a completely neglectful father that time after time put her in harms way, and prioritised her needs last.

My favourite part of this was reading about how Wes & Callie originally fell in love as kids. The rest didn't do it for me. I do find the setting of the biker club interesting enough, so I might still continue with the series. Especially seeing as the next one is a enemies to lovers, I figure it might suit me better.

(Sorry for the lenghty, ranty yap review, and sorry Anila for not loving them as much as you did🥺🩷)

First problem and biggest problem I had with this book is that it didn’t manage to truly wipe the past, explain it, or make up for it in a way where a second chance at a life together was actually a good idea for the couple.

I believe the hero didn’t deserve the heroine and that despite him being described as absolutely crazy obsessed with her ever since they were kids, he didn’t truly respect and care for her the way someone in love would and should.
And the fact that for 7 years he didn’t sleep with anyone else didn’t wipe his slate clean. This is the kind of situation where I actually wouldn’t mind or care that much if he had tried to move on as long as when it comes to seeking a second chance with the heroine he actually atones, grovels and understands the kind of betrayal he put her through. In her own words, Callie told him straight up that she didn’t just leave him because he joined the club but she left him because once he joined he hurt her by doing every single thing her dad did to her because of the club.

The hero has known every single detail of her hurt and trauma over her upbringing and when time came to show that although circumstances made him join the club (which he secretly already wanted) he would never make her feel small, excluded, unimportant or push her into situations that she hates (like the club parties where people fuck, drink, get high and don’t respect the word no - which has given her enough trauma that wasn’t explored) he did exactly what any other Joe, Dick and Harry would with no regards to how it affects her and how he basically guilts her into accepting a life she has wanted to escape since she was a small child at 9 years old running away from home because the music was loud and the people were many and she had no place feel safe in her own home while strangers fucked in her house and scared her.

So basically this man never understood truly where he went wrong and just kept repeating “you’re the one who left me”, “you broke me” blah blah. No fucker- you did that!

Now, onto her father. How the hell did she just wipe the slate clean and gave him sweet loving words after everything he did to her I’ll never understand. Just cause he had cancer or whatever doesn’t mean he basically didn’t treat her shitty and was one of the worst fathers ever. And yes, btw he faked his death.

And that plot made no sense. The mystery, action part of the plot was a mess, it made ZERO logical sense except that it helped with the heroine coming back to town and needing her to stay for a bit which created space and time for the rekindled relationship to evolve. But I repeat - zero sense.

Also, I fucking HATE when the whole thing could have been solved so to speak if only MEN didn’t keep things from women just cause … they’re women. How Wes didn’t actually seek her out to communicate with her once she left town, will never make sense cause the man was supposedly extremely over the top in love right?! But instead he chose to be butthurt for 7 years. And her father? Never truly giving her all the info cause what? He knew better? And Wes again withholding info when she got back because again she’s a special little woman affected with the illness of having woman brain and woman parts. I freaking hate that.

What else? Hmm, I didn’t care for anyone really in this book. Nor do I actually care about any crumbs for future Killian and Silas books cause I already don’t like how they “know better” what women need.

This as SUCH a good motorcycle romance and I can't wait for more in this series!!

This is a second chance romance between Wes and Callie who fell in love as teens. Callie's dad was the president of an MC and she left town and Wes behind. Now, she's back for her dad's funeral and Wes is the president of the MC. There was SO MUCH angst between them because of how they left things and I love every second of it! There was mystery and suspense, which made the story that much addicting.

The ending wasn't my absolute favorite because it was a bit rushed and didn't 100% make sense to me, but the overall story and romance was amazing and I was just so obsessed with Callie and Wes. If you want a good introduction into MC romances or a lighter one that doesn't go as dark as others do, definitely check this one out!

I am dying for the next book in this series!!!

I randomly stumbled on this book and I’m so glad I did because I had the best time. This was such a good motorcycle romance. The angst and the tension was done so well!

The story flips between the past and the present. I’m not usually a fan of that, but it worked well in this book. While the MMC Wes could be a bit of a jerk in the present, we would then get these flashbacks and we would know how deeply he loved and cared for Callie. There are hints throughout the book about why they broke up, but to then read about it through the flashbacks was heartbreaking. I also really liked the fact that Wes stayed faithful to Callie even after their relationship fell apart. Usually it is always the FMC who stays single and the MMC becomes a playboy. And so, it was refreshing to have it flipped here.

I liked the FMC Callie. She stands up for herself and remains truthful to what she wants. She has a lot of mixed feelings towards her father and the biker club of which he’s the president of. She hates the club life and longs for the days she can leave it all behind. Her relationship with her father was one of my favourites parts of the story. It wasn’t perfect, but at the end of the day, they’re family and care for each other. She did irritate me at times though. Some of her decisions and motivations didn’t make sense, but for the most part, she was a good FMC.

And Wes! I really fell in love with him. I just admired his commitment, loyalty and devotion towards Callie. He was just a man in love. He falls first and boy did he fall hard. It was wonderful to read about.

The reason it isn’t a five star read is because the last 25% of the book was rushed and messy. I also didn’t like the miscommunication between the leads and I wished they would have just confessed their feelings sooner.

All in all, this was a really fun read and I’m excited to dive into the second book.

"You clawed me open, Callie Stone, and demanded a position inside as queen of my heart. We can’t be apart. Even in death I’m pretty sure I’d follow you."
My first Ashley Muñoz book, and I’m sure it won’t be my last. I absolutely love any story that starts in the characters’ childhood and evolves until today. Even if they’ve been apart. Even if they shouldn’t have been. Or especially.
I loved their story, and specifically… Wesley.

"He was my first love. He was once my protector, my savior…and then he ruined me."
Wesley and Callie meet as kids. They’re so different—he comes from a “normal” family, and she’s the daughter of the President of the town’s MC. One night, she goes to his treehouse. She’s looking to get away from the MC business at her house. He’s not looking for anything, and he’s certainly not ready for her.

"With one hand, the girl I couldn’t stop thinking about hung on, and with the other, I felt the ache of a battle I knew I’d rage again if anyone else ever tried to hurt her."
He knows she’s his to protect from their first interactions. I’m an absolute sucker for flashbacks, and this book has plenty of those—you see what happens to them as they grow up. How they become friends, and more than that shortly after. How he’d give anything to keep her safe. Until he’s not able to, and everything changes.
And she leaves town. And him.

"He looked older. The tiny lines around his mouth, the few days’ worth of growth along his jaw that he never allowed to grow before. The scar running through his lip, even the arch of his dark brows, felt like he’d lived an entire lifetime already. All without me."
Seven years later, she’s back for her dad’s funeral, and she has to face the people who used to be part of her life and Wes again. He’s the President now, and she’s just inherited their clubhouse. Nothing seems to make sense, except for whatever there is still between them. It may have subsided over the years, but it's not gone.

"You think I won’t reach in between your tits to grab it? You must have forgotten how much I enjoyed them, Callie. It would be a fucking pleasure to frisk you."
Wes tries to keep her away. He does his best to be as annoying and growly as he can so she leaves. But she’s stubborn, and he’s forced to deal not only with her but also with her best friend and her dog. They hurt each other deeply, but my heart broke for Wes because he never, ever let her go. I don’t think he knew how to.
And while his mind wants to keep Callie out, his heart and body have other ideas.

"Callie, if you want to use a fishing metaphor, then you’d be the river, not the fish inside it. You cut a path through me, filled it, and now it’s always shifting and moving."
As usual, it’s the details for me. His nickname for her and how it makes so much sense. The key he gives her, the symbol of so many promises of a future that almost didn’t happen. The choice he makes that ultimately dictates their separation—and which you know he had to make even knowing it would hurt her.

"I wanted all of you, everything you touched, all the air you breathed, the fucking dirt under your nails. I wanted it all."
To be honest, I had a couple of issues with Callie. Somehow, it always felt to me like, although she did love him, she always loved herself more. And I didn’t always get her options or her reasons. Later on in the book, all of it makes more sense, but my heart belongs to Wes.

"I’d wage war for that girl. I’d go to hell and pick a fight with the devil if I had to. In every scenario, she was on my mind. How to keep her, how to love her, how to make her mine."
While this is going on, there’s a rival MC that’s coming for them, and it’s a blast from the past. Things come to light regarding her father and the choices he made, which—while questionable—came from the right place. And she realizes that her dad wasn’t what she thought he was, and that a lot more people love her. And that she’s finally home.

"Because as far as I’m concerned, they all belonged to me. Every kiss. Every moan. Every touch."
I’m also used to men in romance novels being with women galore while separated from the FMCs. Not Wesley. For the first time in a really long time, this MMC didn’t want to be with anyone else because no one measured up to her. There was no way he could do it. And while it may be unrealistic, it felt special.

"She’s my entire fucking soul. We’re bound, her and I. In this life, and even in the next. She will haunt me for eternity, and when the devil tries to pry my soul from her grasp, he’ll realize there’s nothing to claim because it’s hers. All I fucking am, and all I ever could be belongs to her."
These two… She wanted him to choose her over everything else, and she couldn’t see that he always did. She was always his everything. And he always did what he thought he should to make sure she was happy.
I would have liked her to grovel a bit, but Wes would never make her do it. He prefers her on her knees for... other stuff.

"I love you."
"I love you too. Now get on all fours again so I can teach you what it means to wear that patch."

She went away to chase a dream, leaving behind the only thing she ever had that was truly real. He was always hers, even when she was gone. No more secrets, no more distance—they're together now. And they're pretty incredible too.

This was a good second chance/MC romance. I liked both Callie and Wes but wasn’t a huge fan of the jumping back and forth from past to present. Sometimes that works well in books, but in this case not so much. At least not for me.I’m looking forward to reading the next one because I’m curious about the other characters and enjoyed the author’s writing style.

Where We Started was a pleasant surprise. A second chance , small town and MC romance. I really enjoyed Wes and Callie’s story. Both the flashbacks and the present time chapters worked and it’s because of the connection was established between them when they were thirteen. I felt it and it only made me enjoy the story more as it progressed.
Their chemistry was so good also when they were disliking one another. Amazing banter and steam.
The side characters were terrific especially Killian and Laura.
Fast paced and suspenseful at times but the love story was the main focus and then the mc club came second which I didn’t mind. It was well balanced. I’m excited for the next book.

Oh dearest 2024, grant me a wish!
Teach authors like Ashley Munoz and so many others, what are strong female characters...

I'm flabbergasted. This seemed so promising but ended up so disappointing.
I wanted and was promised a strong female character, but instead, I got Callie. This girl pretends to know what she wants and pretends to be strong and independent, but in the end, she is nothing but a spineless carpet for everyone to walk on.

Wes... I tried to like him, but it was obvious as day what he was going to do and choose from the very beginning.

How do you go from this....

to this....

I simply can't condone an author making the character do the right thing, but then making her think she was in the wrong for standing by her boundaries.

What a dood! Please 2024, give us better!

**** After reading others' reviews I just have to add...
Wes was a piece of dog poop! He betrayed her whole being. He actively chose the thing she hated the most and caused her trauma and pain her entire life. She chose her pain and chose the very thing that caused her pain. And he enjoyed that pain. How is that love? And then he blames her. How can she take this man back? How can you not have any self-worth to see that he didn't care before...

Her father....should have stayed that. He was a sorry excuse of a man and of a father. He never put his child first, never cared about her happiness and wellbeing, but actively chose his stupid bike buddies and his idiotic little club. What a damn loser. And she got hurt because of his choices, and even after losing her very fatherly included her in his scheme and playing dead game, knowing she might get hurt again. He took Wes away, the one thing she loved and wanted for herself. All of this.... so that he could spend the few month he had with a two time playing stripper named Sasha. Well I hope he burns in hell.

♥️ Romance de segunda oportunidad en small Town con contexto de club de motociclistas. Me gustó.

He was celibate!! She wasn’t but of course she didn’t enjoy her 3 times
He pissed me off with his choices more than once. She never came first. Even in the end she was his second choice to the club and himself BUT oddly I still believed he loves her.
She was so kickass until about half way through then became more of a doormat but not the worst one I’ve read. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 as it’s the first book I’ve finished in awhile.

What do they say about “throwing the kitchen sink” at something? Because this is what that felt like. There were too many plot tropes that none of them were done very well.

He’s in a motorcycle club? He’s also a celebrity mechanic? He has a reality show? But is also running guns/drugs?

Then I couldn’t get past the part that he has been celibate for 7 years, but he slut-shames her for trying to move on WHEN THEY WEREN’T TOGETHER.

I didn’t mind the time jumps, but the writing was so clunky, especially from the MMC POV. It felt like a female voice masquerading as an 18YO male.

It was just so hard to be invested in this because there was no chemistry between the two MCs. The author spent a lot of time telling instead of showing us how they loved each other. The depth just wasn’t there.

Lost interest at 62% and just skimmed the rest wanting it to end.

This is my first book my Ashley Munoz, and I am loving this series!! I have been on the second chance romance train for a minute. I don't really know why because I hate angst. Especially when you just want to shake the characters and say you misinterpreted that BE HONEST WITH EACH OTHER but nope. We have to wait until halfway through the book for the chemistry to explode but it usually pays off with steaminess. This was the case in this book.

Callie has moved on from her old life (so she thinks). She works a few jobs but her dream would be to open a tattoo parlor. She doesn't want to go home but has to when her dad dies. She doesn't want to see her forgotten family or the love of her life who she had to walk away from. She wants to go to the funeral and then leave. This all changes when she gets her dad's will which says that she is now the owner of the land where the motorcycle club is. The club that her dad was president of. The club that her ex/love of her life, Wesley Ryan, is now the president of. The club that she ran away from because it was too much. So of course her and Wes have to talk.

Wes and Callie go WAY back. They met each other when they were 9! I LOVED LOVED Wes's flashback chapters. They show how much he cared about her. And how much he was willing to sacrifice to save her and be with her. See something scary happened to Callie when she was 18, and it changed the course of her and Wes's relationship. They were not able to recover so she left. When we start hearing from Wes currently we see that he is still totally in love with her. He is just devastated by her leaving and knows she will leave again. He doesn't want to open his heart back up to her because nothing in his life has changed. It doesn't matter that he is going to leave the club soon because she will be leaving too right? Maybe they can just enjoy their explosive chemistry together while they can. He can separate his feelings from that right? Wrong.

I had a little bit of a hard time with how much of a jerk Wes was at first but quickly realized it was all a shell of protection. When he starts to open up to Callie slowly but surely- I SWOONED. When they talked about their bed partners or lack there of (swoon). When he started calling her River again (swoon). When he found the tattoo that she had on her shoulder (swoon). I think this was a wonderful intro to a series and Ashley did a great job of teasing us with book 2 and potentially book 3.

I can't wait to read about Killian and his lady!! I am dying to know what he gave her when she left the train station. I also can't wait to see how he is behind closed doors because I bet it is straight up dirty! Yay for more to come. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!!

I really liked this one! It’s got that perfect second-chance heartbreak vibe — two people still totally in love but pretending they’ve moved on. The tension, the history, the chemistry... all so good 😩💞
But yeah, there were a few things that bugged me. The middle dragged a bit — some scenes felt repetitive, like we were stuck in the same fight on loop. And sometimes the miscommunication was too much
Still, the emotions hit hard, and the ending totally made up for the slow parts. The small-town drama, the heartbreak, the “we shouldn’t but we will” energy — chef’s kiss.
Not perfect, but it left me feeling everything. Would totally read more from this author 🥹💫

There was angst; there was kidnapping; there was young-to-adult lovers (childhood sweethearts, which is the best part of the story); and there was the MC life (sort of).

But in all, it was MC-lite, the heroine was her own worse enemy, the hero was a cross between the guy from The Notebook and an MC president who moonlights as a reality TV star...

Then it just ends, trying to give more gotcha moments, but it all just falls flat. The epilogues were lame; I mean the nerve to have epilogues when the story doesn't even finish well! Neither the suspense, the club conflict, nor the romance ends in a satisfying way. I was like...

4.5 stars! Where We Started is a small town, MC, second chance romance with childhood friends to enemies to lovers! I heard great things about this one and was really looking forward to getting into it…and it did not disappoint! I really loved this one.

The story opens with Callie at her father’s funeral in Rose Ridge, Virginia. She hasn’t been back home in 7 years since leaving, but now after the reading of the will and finding out she has inherited her father’s house, clubhouse, and property…she’s sticking around for a while. She comes face to face with Wes, her childhood best friend and ex-love of her life.

We get flashbacks throughout the story of seeing Wes and Callie first meet when they’re 9-years old. He was new in town, living on her street, and she snuck off into his treehouse one night for some peace and quiet from her house. Callie’s father is the leader/President of Stone Riders Motorcycle Club, a local MC. Callie could never get over how her father always put the people in the MC first over her, and so she’s desperate to escape once she’s older and doesn’t want Wes tangled up in that life either. We see as Callie and Wes get older and as teens fall in love and become each other’s firsts for everything. She’s still desperate to leave one day, but he has slowly started to find acceptance within her MC family. And then life and complications get in the way and Callie ends up leaving!

I really love a second chance romance and the angst and tension in this one was so good. Seeing Callie and Wes around one another again and all the pain they felt in the past come to a surface was so good. Sometimes the pacing wasn’t my fav, but all in all a super solid MC if you’re trying it for the first time or want a not-quite-so-dark one to try. I hope this becomes a series because I already want to see a lot of these side characters to get stories now too. Super impressed with this one and can’t wait to read more from this author now (this was my first)!

Quickie Review-May contain spoilers, fair warning upon reading this review

Where We Started i a book that I was really excited for. I have been seeing so many rave about this one here. I was really hoping that this one would sell me, but unfortunately it didn't quite execute as I would have liked. It still is close to 4 stars but I really struggled with this one here. For a contemporary MC romance, it could have been done better. It kinda felt like this author didn't know if she wanted to write a contemporary or a dark romance for this one. There were mixed elements and it felt like it was going back and forth constantly. The romance in this one was a blend. There was so much angst between this couple and to be honest I didn't feel like this one was even close to being resolved. There were some issues we see them struggle with never get resolved and it just never felt satisfying enough for me. I also wasn't a fan with how this one left off. I am hoping we get more books here, but I really had high hopes for this one here and it didn't quite work as I would have loved for it to be. I love a good MC romance, but this one was so flawed in so many ways. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't hate this book, not at all. It got close to 4 stars, but the heroine was a bit annoying at times and there were elements to this story that just didn't seem practical for a MC setting here. I will keep up with this series because I am intrigued, but this one could have been better.

Where We Started is book 1 to the new Stone Riders MC series.

This follows Wes and Callie, they meet when they were 9 years old, one day when she snuck into his treehouse and it becomes a childhood friends to lovers till life broke them apart.

7 years later Callie comes back to her hometown for her fathers funeral. The angst, tension, and chemistry between Callie and Wes is so damn good. I cried, laughed and was so heartbroken my emotions were all over the place in all the good ways. I absolutely loved Callie and Wes’s love story. I loved seeing the dual POV on different timelines it was done so well. The plot twist was so good and unexpected. I am obsessed with this book and I can’t wait for Killian & Laura’s story in book 2.

I highly recommend this series. Thank you Ashley Munoz for the ARC.

Addictive but man there were a lot of 🚩🚩🚩

For those people who love the “you are my property” romantic troupe. Personally not my favorite but still enjoyed the book overall. Also if you hate miscommunication I would avoid this. The whole thing with the motorcycle guidelines is a miscommunication nightmare.

5 stars!

This is my first book by Ashley Munoz, and I admit that it was the gorgeous cover that initially drew me to this one. Then that blurb – childhood sweetheart, second-chance, enemies-to-lovers MC romance, I jumped on this book, and I was not disappointed! It’s the first book in the Stone Riders MC series, and a beautifully emotional love story and I loved it!

Callie has returned to her small home town following the death of her father. He was the President of the Stone Riders MC, and she hasn’t seen him since she left town seven years previously, wanting to escape the MC life, leaving her father, friends and her first love, Wes, behind. Now she’s back, Wes has taken over as President of the Stone Riders MC and Callie has just inherited the land where the clubhouse sits. She wants nothing to do with it and plans to sell, which puts her directly into Wes’ firing line.

It's not a happy reunion for these two. Wes is angry, and he lets Callie know it, and he holds nothing back. There is clearly a lot of history between them, and though they became friends at 9, fell in love as teenagers, and planned for a life together, they ended in heartbreak. There’s so much pain and emotion for both of them, and I couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of it all and watch them find their way back to each other.

I’d wage war for that girl. I’d go to hell and pick a fight with the devil if I had to. In every scenario, she was on my mind. How to keep her, how to love her, how to make her mine.
Nothing would ever change that.

In addition to all of the emotional turmoil, Callie’s return to town lands her right in the middle of a brewing biker ward. She and Wes will need to work together to uncover old secrets to protect themselves and the club, and there’s lots of drama, fun, excitement and surprises as they do just that.

It’s a fabulous ride as we get to know Wes and Callie through their experiences in the past, and their reconnection in the present. With their friends and club members watching on, they find common ground, and we see lots of longing looks, protective biker badassery, and heartwrenching moments as they work through their history and fall into each other all over again. Neither of them can deny the love that they still have for each other, and their passion for each other is more explosive than it ever was. But it isn’t the life that Callie wants, and she’s already walked away once. But Wes isn’t prepared to let her go again.

“I want forever. You agree to stay, to be mine, you need to understand it’s for good.”

I loved Wes and Callie’s story. It’s emotional and sweet, sexy and intense, and I was feeling everything right along with them. They hold nothing back, and I loved watching them fight for each other and find their long-awaited happy ending.

This is a great read and a really strong series starter. The Stone Riders are a 1% club, living outside the law, so there are dark and gritty elements to the story, but it’s tame compared to other MC books that I’ve read. I enjoyed getting to see a bit of the club and I loved getting to meet the characters that I’m sure we’ll see more of in future books. I felt so much for this group, and can’t wait for more of the series.

5 stars.

Looks like I have Ashley to thank for ending my book slump because this book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I read it in one sitting, which is saying something because I have two sick toddlers and really need my sleep 😅

Anywho, this book has the angst, heartbreak, betrayal, pretty much everything i look for in a book. I won't lie. I wanted to throat punch Wes a good portion of this story. While I understood his original choice, what followed was 100% his fault. I felt my heart breaking for Callie multiple times throughout this book. I think Wes tried to hold the high ground with the " I did nothing wrong/ I had no choice card," but once Callie really let him know why she left I think in sunk in that he needed to shift some of the responsibility of their relationship failing to his shoulders.

My only complaints would be I really wanted Wes and Callie to finish the conversation where she confessed why she left. They were interrupted, and I needed Wes to continue that conversation even if it was later with an "I'm sorry." He does talk with his brother later on about it, but I just needed more of an acknowledgment from him to Callie that he did, in fact, share some of the blame.

So all in all I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it. I will also be continuing the series and can't wait for Killian's book.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Okay my girl Jules told me to start this series and man it did not disappoint! I am addicted. This was my first read by Ashley Munoz and definitely won’t be my last!

Where We Started is the first book in the Stone Riders Series following Wes & Callie. They grew up together down the road from each other. Wes had the picture perfect family while Callie was sneaking off trying to find peace and quiet from her house. Callie was the daughter of the president of the Stone Riders Motorcycle Club. She ends up going to the boy next doors treehouse to escape from her life.

These two started to share a close bond and over the years fell in love… until Wes made a decision that will change everything. 7 years later, Callie is back in town for her father’s funeral where she finds out that she was inherited the club and has been instructed to sell it. However the new president isn’t going to make it easy for her. Especially when the new president is her ex lover.

I loved these two so much! The tension!! The banter! They were amazing and I was obsessed from the start. I wasn’t able to put this book down!

this was my kind of second chance romance!

MC romances are usually a miss for me because i’m not a fan of all the ow drama that seems to always happen in them, but this one……chef’s kiss, perfection.

Wes was such an ass at the beginning, but he was a loyal ass so i can forgive him for anything.

i have to say that i did not know where the story was going towards the end and i was lowkey anxious and waiting for something really bad to happen, but it was low angst! and not in a boring way. i thought the plot line was great and i will probably read the next book…….maybe. idk the way killian spoke to laura in the bonus chapter pissed me off 😂😂😂

the h did have some lovers over the separation and i loved seeing how upset and jealous the H was for once because he knew all of their names and where they met and how long they stayed at the h’s apartment. there were only three people but still. Callie was Wes’ first AND ONLYYYYYY. and fuck i loved that

Swoony small town mc?! The first time I've read something that combines a traditionally dark genre (which does also still have some dark content) with the sweetness and charm of a feel good small town romance. The romance (told in two timelines) is really layered- angsty, complicated, emotional, and compelling...and the secondary MC stuff is interesting. I think some of it could have been a bit more clearly woven, but it's a running storyline that will go into the next books, so expect not a clean ending to the MC stuff.
