The New Testament: A New Translation and Redaction

Rate this book
This edition of the New Testament is a new translation and redaction that dares to be sensitive to anti-Jewish polemic and to sexism, and dares to be innovative for the 21st century by moving back into the past of early church development and forward to the future that is still to come.  It is a tranlation of the New Testament from the Greek text that reflects the dynamic nature of the New Testament as a Means of Grace, a living, evolving tradition that provides a basic standard of judgement of Christians and of the Church, but also must be judged by each Christian and the Church.  It is a translation that is new and unique, yet continues trends in translation that became apparent in the last two decades of the 20th century.  Together with the innovative Four Year Lectionary that is included as an appendix to it, this translation is offered to the glory of God, who inspired not only the earlier writers within the Church, but inspires us today.

I've had Rev. Dr. Beck's NT Bible since circa 2002/2003, and enjoy using it for another perspective, and a supplement to his and other theo, philos, and modern and classical language courses in which I was enrolled at TLU.

This is a wonderfully fresh and theologically responsible translation offered by Dr. Norman Beck.
