Hello, sun. Good to see you, puppy. What’s going on, butterfly? Hello, My World…
Making connections between images on a page and the real world is an important building block for your baby’s communication skills—and this charming introduction to simple objects found around a baby’s world, paired with friendly text and bold, basic patterns, provides an important high-contrast experience for young developing eyes.
Using simple greetings like “ Bonjour , flowers,” “What’s up, clouds?”, and “ Hola , baby” alongside lovely black-and-white art by Jannie Ho (illustrator of Animal Parade ), Hello, My World is the perfect board book for babies just beginning to look around and learn about their world.
Also Hello, Baby Animals ; Hello, Ocean Friends; and Hello, Garden Bugs .
Read for my toddler's bedtime. Different ways to say hello in different languages such as French, Chinese, Spanish.. to a bird, flowers, clouds.. black and white book.. short sentences for kids to learn to read.
Thank you Sourcebooks Kids for the opportunity to read and review.
GC says we should count some of our top read baby books ... Trevor and Mari - thanks for the book that we read every day. Tho very few words - like the different languages! It’s the high contrast that captures our attention. Hola baby is baby’s favorite.
Mom is thrilled that I can finally keep my eyes open long enough to read a book! This book had my eyes WIDE open! Whoa. The high-contrast black and white pictures? Perfect for my baby eyes. I can’t see far yet, but this book really pops. The red accents? Love 'em. Keeps my attention long enough for Mom to think I’m a genius.
The words? Okay, I don’t really understand them yet, but the rhythm is nice and simple. Each page says "hello" to something new and I can tell by the way my parents say the words that it’s all very exciting. Sometimes they even make funny sounds to go with the pictures.
Final thoughts: It’s short, it’s bold, it’s baby-approved. Whether you’re 4 days or 4 weeks old (like me), Hello, My World is a top-tier read.
No story, you don't need one for this age group. The high contrast pictures are clear and easy to understand and the text gives greetings in multiple languages and ways (e.g. "Bonjour" and "What's up?" and "Good to see you" etc.).
Mavis can see color now, but this high contrast book was enough fun she still pulled it out to enjoy.
Moral: The world is full of fun things.
Length: A wonderfully brief introduction to things a baby may say hi to as they develop.
Favorite Line: “Good to see you, puppy.”
Overall impression: I don’t know why, but the images here work better in black and white than they would in color. I’d be exceptionally disappointed in this book if it weren’t high contrast. But since babies are just learning to see the world and that audience is who needs this book, it’s better than average at what it wants to accomplish. It’s still a book we turn to, even after months of seeing color… so hats off to Jannie Ho’s illustrations.
Given my our friend who visited us when our baby was only a couple of weeks old. One of the first books we read to him. Book is sturdy, has high contrast illustrations, and uses simple words with multilingual phrases. Kept the baby interested. I loved reading this to him in the mornings and would occasionally repeat the words to him while doing our routine upon waking up. Writing this review now makes me nostalgic of those slow mornings.
This is the best high contrast, black and white picture book for little babies. Each opening features a pattern page and an illustration page, both pages work a treat drawing babies attention. The illustrations all have facial features and also engage babies. This little treasure of a book has kept our 2 month old engaged for hours.
High-contrast, black-and-white board book ideal for the smallest babies with their eyesight still developing. Each illustration is paired with a simple sentence with just a few words that focuses on saying hello to the depicted object. Good addition of some ways to say hello in other languages.
Our go-to bedtime read and perhaps the first book I've memorized from cover-to-cover. Great simple black-and-white images for baby, some with a slightly international flavor ("Bonjour, flowers", "Hola, baby", "Ni-hao, stars").
My family loves this book. We borrowed it from the library. My mama read it to me first a couple times. Then my tato read it to me. I loved it every time. I like touching the faces on all the pages, especially the clouds.
Eliana's first book. High contrast images that helped her practice her tummy time and head movements. Different languages, different themes on each page. Absolutely wonderful. Eliana rates it 5 out of 5 agoo
