No Safe Alternative

In a time when public trust in law enforcement is eroding, the need for a paradigm shift in police training has become obvious. No Safe Alternative delves deep into the complex world of administering deadly force, presenting a groundbreaking approach to teaching law enforcement officers how to wield this power lawfully and effectively.

Written by an experienced law enforcement professional, this book advocates for the implementation of a dedicated block of training at the academy level and throughout the profession. Such a comprehensive program goes beyond merely the mechanical aspects of firing a weapon and delves into the core principles that underpin the responsible use of deadly force.

Through meticulous research and expert insights, leavened with actual experience, No Safe Alternative explores the multifaceted nature of law enforcement encounters involving deadly force. It takes a holistic approach, covering not only the tactical considerations but also the legal requirements, moral and ethical dilemmas, and the aftermath of using deadly force in the line of duty.

Readers will embark on a thought-provoking journey that challenges traditional training methods and fosters a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the use of lethal force. Drawing on real-life scenarios to breathe life into cold statistics, this book provides practical guidance for officers to navigate high-stress situations while upholding the principles of justice and accountability.

No Safe Alternative makes a call for change while suggesting a way forward. It urges law enforcement agencies to adopt a progressive training framework that places equal emphasis on legal knowledge, tactical proficiency, and ethical decision-making. It explores the concept of integrating various elements we know are relevant to the use of deadly force into career-long training. By equipping officers with a broader skill set in this critical area, this book aims to enhance officer safety while simultaneously strengthening community relations.

For law enforcement professionals, trainers, policymakers, and concerned citizens alike, No Safe Alternative is a call to action and a roadmap to greater success. It challenges the status quo, ignites important conversations, and charts a path toward a future where the administration of deadly force is not only a last resort, but one that has been trained and understood as well as can be.

Prepare to delve into a long-overdue transformative journey that redefines the training of law enforcement officers on their greatest responsibility, creating a brighter, safer, and more just future for both those who serve and the communities they protect.

Five-Star Rating isn’t high enough!

Doctor Fuller is quite the master of the English language. While reading, I could “feel” Dr. Fullers words.

Dr. Fuller is taking you on a “can’t book this book down” journey of law enforcement and their use of deadly force within a community they’ve sworn to protect. Dr. Fuller doesn’t take this lightly in his writing and articulates this in a manner that those who are not in law enforcement can easily understand. We gain insight into the plight the members of our community (who wear a badge) experience when forced to use deadly force, and the shortfalls of their education & training on the subject.

In the military, the Generals/Admiral of their service have a Professional Reading List. This book should be required reading for all Law Enforcement Commandants/Sheriffs/Chiefs/Supervisors across every type of law enforcement agency in the U.S.. This book should also be on their Professional Reading List for the officers under their charge. Most law enforcement officers are ignorant (context is technical, not derogatory) to the necessary education & training which should be required by the U.S. Law Enforcement Community.

Who else should read this book: Federal/State Legislators, County Commissioners, City/Town Councils, and members of the community wanting to affect change in law enforcement with articulable facts, reasoning, and how to accomplish the task. This book offers insight into lack of law enforcement education & training and why it exists. Citizens are not eager to pay more in taxes without justifiable reasoning (and other hosts of reasons). If we want more educated & trained law enforcement officers, it takes resources; time and money. How can a law enforcement officer reasonably be held accountable when they’ve not been “armed” with the knowledge, skills, and abilities by those who will hold them accountable?

Professionally I believe we should never trust the government to have our best interest in-mind and every single law enforcement officer in the country should follow Dr. Fullers lead in seeking continued education & training from the private sector. It is YOUR life on the line. It is YOUR family who will bear the burden. What are the repercussions of physical, moral, social, legal, and financial jeopardy? I submit to you they are enormous and potentially catastrophic!

I thoroughly enjoyed not just reading this book, but studying, and pondering its content.

Dr. Fuller - Thank you for the massive time investment you and your family made to research and write this book!
