A nine-thousand-year-old conspiracy. Three families. One secret. The epic race to uncover history’s greatest mystery has begun.

Beneath the sparkling blue water of a remote Pacific atoll, a merciless killer stalks an underwater archaeological dig. His goal: to bring his employer—-billionaire industrialist Holden Ironwood—-an impossible artifact that proves a lost civilization’s knowledge of astronomy was thousands of years ahead of its time.

At the same time, in the Armed Forces DNA Identification Lab in Maryland, haunted young researcher David Weir risks his freedom to identify a handful of people with nothing in common except their nonhuman genes—-genes that he shares.

While in the Arctic tundra, a deadly airborne assault on a pipeline crew propels young paleogeologist Jessica MacClary into the innermost circles of her staggeringly wealthy and powerful family as she learns the astonishing secret her ancestors have defended since the beginnings of recorded history.

Now these three strangers on their separate quests to unlock their pasts are unexpectedly driven into violent collision, only to discover that together they hold the key to answering the ultimate question of humanity’s origins—-provided the U.S. Air Force doesn’t stop them first. . . .

Acclaimed New York Times bestselling novelists Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens once again bring their unique blend of relentless suspense and cutting-edge science to a page-turning story of adventure that spans the globe and millennia of human history, racing from long-buried ruins in Cornwall and the casinos of Atlantic City to the forgotten caves that protect a shocking revelation that will tear the veil off the true history of humankind.

With a mystery more profound than Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, and scientific speculation more provocative than Michael Crichton’s Next, Search is an adrenaline-fueled, action-packed thriller that goes beyond wild theories of ancient astronauts and sunken empires to suggest a startling new vision of the birth of human civilization.

I liked this book a lot. It took me in an unsuspected direction. It was a definite page-turner. I lost a couple of hours of sleep finishing it. Good guys and bad guys weren't always who they seemed to be. I can't say too much without spoiling the book, but I will say there was a nice twist ending. I could see a sequel with a much larger scope.

This is a retelling of the Atlantis legend - without actually mentioning the word Atlantis.

The McClary Family have been protecting a secret for the last 9000 years and also looking for the source of that secret as well. Except that some parts of the secret have been lost.

There are 12 ancient and lost "Temples" scattered throughout the planet that the Family have been looking for. So far, nothing has been found.

Until a Billionaire named Holden Ironwood finds the first temple and ransacks it. When he finds the second temple, he comes to the attention of the family and a "War" starts up between them.

This all goes back to the time around 9000 years ago, when Knowledge was given to ancient civilizations. Knowledge such as writing, agriculture and building. Given to cultures such as the Egyptians, the Phoenecians and others.

Ironwood has stolen a copy of a USAF database which he is using to find these temples. He believes that Aliens came to Earth and interbred with humans and gave them the knowledge.

David Weir, a young geneticist uses his own DNA to find other clusters that have the same traits. These clusters just so happen to be in the region of these 12 lost temples.

SO when David meets Jessica McClary, the two of them end up going on the run with 3 entities after them - the USAF, the McClary Family and the Billionaire named Holden Ironwood.

I gave this story 3 stars because much of the missing knowledge I am already familiar with. So the ending was really nothing new for me to enjoy.

Search and Ye Shall Find

Judith and Garfield-Reeves have not given the Sci-fi buff rocket ships or death rays, but rather science fiction set in an understandable future. There are no futuristic machines or gadgets. No they offer the reader a plausible story set in the future dealing with a credible possible human past. Their characters are well drawn, knowable and understandable. The plot though a little complicated is never so complicated as to cause the reader to stop reading to figure something out. The reader might stop because the authors offer a new possible insight to our past. Totally interesting, plot moves nicely, characters are knowable, and the reader has a good read. What more could anyone ask for?

Something different. Earth was populated by beings from another planet. Where did they come from? How did they get here?? What was the source of the knowledge that they shared with other earthlings? Fear, uncertainity, bombing, shootings.... lots of action. Read it if you must.

I thought this was a great story, and I'm very surprised that more people haven't read this book. Great suspense wrapped in speculative fiction with a dash of sci fi thrown in for good measure. The writing was good and definitely kept me quickly turning the pages.

"12-те вятъра" - типичен американски трилър. В началото ми беше объркващо, докато не навлязох в историята и стана по интересна, но не е нещо необичайно.

Molto coinvolgente, per certi versi mi ha ricordato lo stile di scrittura di Rollins. Il libro offre un'interessante prospettiva in chiave romanzata sulle origini della razza umana.
