When an EMP attack shatters the world as we know it, courage, family, and sacrifice become the only beacon of hope.
An EMP bomb blasts a small town in Pennsylvania back to primitive times. Former Marine Raider Lori, a committed survivalist, finds herself in a race against the coming winter and a growing foreign threat to ensure her family's survival. As society crumbles around her, will Lori's meticulous preparation be sufficient, or will she fall to the encroaching chaos and snow?
I’m enjoying this series. The character development is well done and the initial cause of the apocalypse is dealt with from the survivors’ point of view so the reader doesn’t get concerned with technical issues about an EMP or who caused it. Plus, in these crazed days of COVID the terrible virus and how the government attempted to deal with it is all too believable.
Another EMP story. Not at all romantic. Just one of those page turner you can't put down. How does a group of women plus one male make it through this? Carefully. One day the same as most. Sleep, travel, hunt for food, discover friends and foe, repeat. It really did leave me wanting to know if they make it to Seattle.
I was very confused in the first couple of chapters because it kept switching back and forth. Once I realized the character was having flashbacks I liked the 3 books, however it left the reader wondering why the author didn’t continue the series. Then after doing a lot of research I found that the author has continued the series but under a whole different book title. Extremely poor thinking on the authors end. He’s a fairly decent writer just not a great decision maker!
What a great series, characters that you want to know. An upbeat message - no matter how much the world goes tits-up, there are still good people out there. This is rare in post-apocalyptic fiction & I, for one, really enjoyed these books.
There's really not a great amount of information about this book except that it was recently published in August 2023, nor does the author have an extensive amount of background information. I can tell you that I bought it due to the summary on Amazon. This is the first work by the author so I want to be as supportive as possible. I also will tell the truth. This Boxset is very good.
Here, in The Last Sanctuary is a post-apocalyptic world that has survived an Electro-Magnetic Pulse, Extinction Level Event that has led to massive deaths and societal collapse. A group of survivors, led by Lori (a math teacher) and her daughter (Avah) attempt to move from Philadelphia to Seattle. There is supposed to be a sanctuary in Seattle and the stories are really a trek from the East coast to the West. Along the way they meet up with people: some decent and some not-so decent, and how they behave when the facade of polite society is removed.
This is my first Clay Wise book, and I enjoyed it despite the fact that the reader gets an incomplete story. Although the survivors don't reach their objective in the end, there's minor resolution and I believe that there is more to come story-wise. I really enjoyed the high level of suspense throughout and expect good things from this author.
