He's known for getting what he wants. Now he wants one thing. Me.
Cocky, gorgeous, and the star of my rival school's football team, Miles Locke is the one man I should stay away from.
He's the wild boy of KYU, I work for my school's football team.
Hello? PR nightmare.
But when Miles sneaks into my hotel, there's no way I can deny the heat between us.
And in his bedroom. And on the eighth floor of the library.
Being caught with the star player could risk my internship and he's locked in for the upcoming season. We can't get caught.
But how do I explain that to the guy who puts 'future wife' on my coffees?
[Change the Play is a short off limits sports romance to introduce the Even the Score series with plenty of banter, an obsessive football player, and delicious spice!]
A lover of romances, it’s not unusual to find Bree Hayden curled up with a book, sobbing her eyes out. On the off chance she’s doing real-life things, she resides in Washington, tries to get birds to whistle along with her, and enjoys baking ancient recipes in the hopes one actually tastes good.
Check out Bree’s newsletter for playlists (they’re pretty good), upcoming character art (that’s way better), chances to read her books before anybody else (!!!), and free extra stories about the characters in her novels (the best!!!)
Pomimo wszystko były dobre, wręcz słodkie sceny, jak rzeczywiście ten wątek z kawą (on kupuje jej ulubioną kawę i jeszcze inne sytuacje).
It give me the ick. They meet and he is already surprising her on her job ?, bomb love her with gifts. The "you mine" talk plus his weird obsession of feeling her with his c*m was just not my type o read. If you want some quick smut read with no real plot maybe this might be your read.
To short but still really good! I wanted more of their journey together and more of their story😕 Loved the insta-love and his possesive behaviour. He only saw her and what he wanted was only her. I loved that so much❤️
OKAY. The way Miles said, “You deserve someone to care for you the way you care for everyone else.” Excuse me while I SWOON.
This man didn’t just fall for Cleo—he knew she was it the second he saw her, and my god, he proved it over and over again. From their ridiculously adorable first date to that perfect Photo Booth kiss (literal dream moment), to supporting her as she became head intern, to the sweetest proposal—Miles Locke, you absolute gentleman.
This book was fast-paced, heart-melting, and honestly so sweet it could rot my teeth. If you love a football romance with an instant connection and a hero who shows up for his girl, this one’s for you!
Really enjoyed reading this book, just wish it was a lot longer. Had some really cute moment but Jeeeze the spice in it was another level and I was so here for it 🤭 just wish there was another book or this was longer.
It did what it was supposed to do, introduce us to these students are MARRS university. It did feel rushed to me, and I didn't feel like I got to know the characters very well.
It is what it is, a novella. I now know I definitely prefer novels as I need more of a backstory and storyline to have characters grow and develop. Bit too rushed for me in this context but it was good for what it was.
A cute and feel good little novella. I wanted something shorter and easy reading before I started my next book and this book was perfect for that. I really enjoyed it. Lots of swoon worthy moments and what a babe Miles Locke is 😍 a perfect amount of spice and a great cute, little ending.
’Había estado perdido, dando tumbos de un lado a otro, solo para descubrir que ella era el objetivo final que había estado buscando. Me era fácil pasar desapercibido porque nada importaba. Pero ella sí. Ella me importaba. Todo lo que hacía me importaba.

Change Your Play de Bree Hayden serie Even The Score libro 1
Argumento:
Cleo Bennight belonged at Marrs University, where her heart was, Texas. Not Oklahoma, where she is stuck for her summer intern program, yeah, Marr's biggest rival. The same college Cleo’s mom went to, the same one her grandfather attended. Growing up, there wasn’t a room in the house without the dark blue banners. Season tickets for the Romans were considered part of the household budget. Marrs University would always mean everything to her. As a proud member of the football team’s public relations department, all she wanted to do was plant her butt in the training center and revel in her summer internship.
Instead, Cleo was shipped off to Kennedy Young University - KYU, their biggest rival, right smack in the middle of Oklahoma. Fabulous! Although a white drizzle of mocha coffee scent in the air helped wipe away her irritation. Cleo compared it to an IV; if needed, to just give her a cold brew drip, it would do just fine. It was nice; she had the coach’s black card, and she needed seven coffees and her own drink. Cleo just needed to survive the day of interviews. Then comes their meet-cute in the coffee shop, all six-foot-four of Miles Locke.
When Miles's teammate took offense to the question she asked during the questions yet no one else brought it up, Sullender was pissed. So, when he walked in with Miles and some other players, Sullender was pissed when he saw her and blocked her exit. When she tried to skirt around him, he grabbed her elbow. Remember she has all those coffees. That's when Miles steps in and things escalate. Not letting go caused her drink to topple over; in turn, Miles dropped his slushy all over Sullender. His eyes and heart are in love. See how he gets his girl.
I don’t usually read novellas, so I need to keep that in mind as I review this. If this was a full length book, I’d have less gripes with this I think. I was considering rating it lower, but again, I have to remember that the pacing issues I have are because of the book style not because of the author herself. Any novella would feel like this, not just hers.
I thought Cleo was a great character! She was smart, passionate about her job, felt very human. Miles … I liked how much he loved her, and he felt very multidimensional too, but he also moved SO FAST. It felt very lovebomb to me, but again, it was a novella, so you’re fitting a whole book’s worth of content into 80 pages.
That being said, I thought their relationship was written very well! I saw their chemistry, the scenes between them were passionate and exciting to read, and he had lots of great romantic gestures! I thought the following her in the car scene was CRAZY, but I guess I get it? LMAO
This was my first football romance, but I thought it was cute! I love sports romance, so this was nice, simple, and comforting. Nothing crazy!
I thought it was crazy that there wasn’t a bigger time skip though. A marriage proposal??? Like…a few months into being with me???…erm
Whatever you say I guess!
But anyway, I really enjoyed this, I just think I would’ve enjoyed it more as a full book because I wouldn’t have been so concerned about how fast they were moving! It felt like love bombing and lots and lots of passion, but it was a cute romance over all and a very easy and quick read!

I’ve never read anything by Bree before and I’m instantly hooked. I wanted to read something short and what a way to start my day with this sweetness. From the moment he saved her from his teammate, who was getting on her, I knew these two were going to be endgame.
When he showed up with eight coffees because he didn’t know which one was hers, I fell in love. I loved how he said in his mind that Cleo Locke sounded better than her own last name.
I loved how Cleo told Miles he could do better in his receptions, I was beaming. I love that she wasn’t shy in telling him what he could improve on and he even loved that about her.
I could not stop laughing when Miles was buying the wine, the chocolate covered strawberries and the damn lubricant not too far from the coach and Cleo! Ha.
This book was so good got a short read and I loved the part where he was chasing the bus with his car. Simply priceless. It was exactly what she needed to realize he was not going anymore.
And the spice was so on point. I loved that this story wasn’t just straight smut. I cannot wait to read the next books and hope to see these two later on in them too.
“I’m trying to see if this could be worth it. Because I think it could be.”
This is a great novella, especially if you are looking for something fast paced with a good plot and sprinkle in some spice definitely add this to your TBR.
It is under 100 pages so this is also great for helping with those monthly goals.
Cleo is feisty no nonsense and Miles is a great big cinnamon roll and you love him from the beginning. She is trying to become head intern for the PR team at her college and meets Miles during a scouting trip. He is off-limits for the scouting and her but they cannot deny the chemistry and he honestly will not let her no matter what.
I have added the rest of the series to my TBR. Grumpy Ryan is next I love a good fake dating grump
