this is one you're really gonna wanna read the synopsis for
i didn't and OH BOY lemme tell ya i was in for the shock of a lifetime when i got to the accidental pregnancy. hey, i wasn't mad at it. i'd like one of those myself, just wasn't what i was expecting from my girl elizabeth.
that being said, once the shock wore off and i adjusted my expectations i had a good time with this one. keeley has a personality that certainly won't work for everyone but good god i loved her. someone clearly intelligent but also fixated on designer goods and having fun? my type of woman. and graham? the kind of grumpy hero most people will fall for. richer than god but doesn't flaunt it, and totally steps up to help his wife/mother of his child... sexy stuff. oh and don't forget the patented lizzy slow burn.
the only thing that kept this from being a 5 star for me was the lack of big declarations and stand out moments. in the last book, i was about as invested as i was here but that one was sent over the top with the shit ben does to impress gemma near the end of the book. since the relationships in books 3 and 4 are more antagonistic by nature than books 1 and 2 in the series i think it's pretty crucial for the hero to prove to the heroine why he's the one. and while i appreciated the one moment we got in this book it was pretty short lived imo. i needed just a little more. but hey, i'm an OTT bitch. and this book definitely wasn't unrealistic.
as always, elizabeth o'roark writes my favorite romances. and i'm excited to have another shirtless dude grace my bookshelves.

I had the most absolute pleasure of doing a Developmental Read for the fourth book in the Devil series for Elizabeth O'Roark and this was honestly very different than anything she has done before but so emotional and touching. I can't wait to read the polished and final version and cry about this couple all over again.
This is why I love her writing so much, she writes real people, living in the real world. It feels so intimate, like being wrapped up in a massive cozy blanket in the middle of a snow-storm, by the fire, with the best book in hands and hot chocolate. She turned one of the least popular tropes into the most comforting and passionate read out there. You guys are going to love this one.

Enemies to lovers, opposites attract, married in Vegas AND an accidental pregnancy. I know, it's a lot. I was a little nervous to read this one as I've seen some mixed reviews, but it really worked for me and I'm so happy about that!
Keeley is Gemma's best friend. She's a doctor, and a bit unhinged in the best way. Then there is Graham. Graham is the opposite of Keeley in so many ways. He's responsible, a bit buttoned up and I love that he calms her chaos but doesn't dull her shine. Graham is Ben's brother and he and Keeley meet while planning a party for the two of them. A few days together changes everything for these two.
I think what I enjoyed most about this book is that we really got to see why the characters were the way they were. I love having that insight. Also I love a good chaotic character with a stuffy one. There is something about that dynamic that works so well. I've enjoyed this whole series and this was no exception!

i’m not usually a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, but i ended up really enjoying it in this story. what pulled me in most was how well the narrative balanced keeley and graham’s journey as a couple with keeley’s personal growth. watching her come into her own while navigating this new chapter of her life added so much depth to the story, and i loved seeing her become more confident and self-assured along the way.
one thing i really appreciated was getting a deeper look into both characters’ backgrounds and motivations. there’s just something so compelling about the dynamic between a chaotic character and a more reserved one,it creates such an interesting contrast. i’ve loved this whole series, and this book was no exception!
the only thing that kept me from giving it a full five stars was the lingering unresolved issues with keeley’s dad and stepmom, as well as graham's mom. these relationships were pretty significant to both of their backstories, so i found myself wishing for more closure there. a bit more insight or resolution on those fronts would’ve added even more depth to an already engaging story.

she’s such a thoughtfully crafted, multi-dimensional character. sure, she has a habit of splurging on designer clothes she barely wears and sometimes drinks a bit too much, which makes her life feel pretty chaotic at times. but underneath it all, she’s incredibly dependable in a crisis. when she finds out she’s pregnant, you can really see her trying to get it together and make a positive change. she might have her quirks, but she has such a genuine determination to do better, which makes her feel so relatable and real.

i’ve never come across such a calm, understated confidence like graham’s before. he made competence look like the most attractive quality ever. despite his own flaws (and he had his fair share), he was amazing with keeley, and it didn’t hurt that he totally fell for her first and he fell hard. graham was more of an actions-over-words type, so i really appreciated all the little things he did to show he cared. i would’ve loved a bit more effort from him at the end, but given the circumstances, i get why there wasn’t much time for that.

graham and keeley didn’t exactly start off on the best foot, but their relationship really blossomed in such a natural way. it felt like a true partnership, with both of them discovering each other on a deeper level. there was this perfect balance that’s hard to put into words, but you could see it in how keeley responded to graham’s support. as she learned to trust him, she allowed herself to be vulnerable and lean on him more. it struck this beautiful middle ground between her wanting to handle things herself and realizing she needed him too.
ᡣ𐭩 .ᐟ all in all, it’s the last book of the series, and i really enjoyed reading every single one. the first book is still my favorite out of the four, but it was such a great experience diving into this series as a whole!

I'm so sad I didn't love this 😭
EOR books are usually a guarantee for me but this one right here might be a not so pleasant exception.
The story itself is rather cute, but it wasn't developed properly.
There was a lot of wasted potential, especially concerning the main characters.
I couldn't connect with Keelie and, while I didn't mind her being flawed and stubborn, I had a hard time coping with her immaturity. She was simply unsufferable and only redeemed herself when it was too late and the book was about to end.
Graham was only slightly better, but his character lacked substance.

i thought this one would be about gemma’s friend keeley (i think her name is!) and six (because drew tells gemma six was interested in meeting her and that maybe keeley’s wild side will help six get out of his funk or whatever) but i’m actually glad it’s gonna be ben’s uptight neat freak brother graham who seems to hate keeley but is also like really intrigued by her lmao which is something ben picks up on! i love another grumpy x sunshine dynamic so imma be eating this one up 🤌🏽
i’ll admit i was not a fan of six (like at all) but that glimpse you see of him during the extended epilogue in josh and drew’s wedding really makes you realize he has a heart and you truly feel for him and i hope he gets a good thorough redemption arc of sorts and the woman he’s with is someone who just has him acting insane like drop kicked flat on his ass, absolutely smitten and obsessed with her and a woman he finally puts before his work and desire to idk prove himself as an artist/musician etc. i feel like people think a sassy spitball lady would do it but i actually think a tiny petite innocent sweet seemingly shy woman who has like inner claws and fire would annihilate six and it would be FUN to see that dynamic happen actually 👀 i want her making him act INSANE like writing love songs about her and everything. Imagine a 6 ft 4 rockstar falling to his knees for a 5’2 woman just crying n grovelling like yaaaaas 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
also elizabeth needs to write an irish love interest please… i need it. and she needs to write longer sex scenes… 🤩

If not for H's love for her, this would be a chick-lit book.
Wasted time showing and prolonging 29yo h’s immaturity and social-climbing in Hollywood. Pages would've been better spent on her romance with 30s investor H.
First 70% of book:
Read more like chick-lit re: h’s crazy life between being a new physician and living a high-life in Hollywood. About 70% of the book was about h’s spending habits/promiscuous life with various rich and famous men/reality-TV watching/junk-food eating/self-sabotaging her life. Her career as a new physician and 8 years of medical school seemed very unbelievable, given her high living, frequent drunkeness, and spontaneous trips to Cabo/etc. Her time spent at residency seemed to be highlighted by gossiping with the medical staff.
Last 20-30%:
Only around 80% that we’re given details of how they got married in Vegas and why he chose to marry her. These details should’ve been given way earlier or at least segments of them dropped here and there from 15% of the book onwards.
What made this book palatable and why I kept reading was because of H. How somebody serious and responsible like him would fall for this h, given how she kept pushing him away and diminished his value whether as a drunken-marriage husband or father of her child. She swung from rejecting H and accusing him of trying to control her like her parents and stepmom did and then wishing he stayed with her, when she just told him to leave her alone.
Around 80%, we really see how H's patience and love for h impacted their romance and her character growth. h begins to change due to H’s unconditional love and support of her. Without that, h would remain a wild promiscuous teenager in a 29yo body. h wasn’t that unlikable but she was just emotionally-stunted and confused. She was trying to please her dead mom, distant father, and critical stepmother and sabotaged her life to try to please such different people. She was a hot mess! And only H’s presence and love for her stabilized her. Having an accidental baby just helped speed things along.
Aside from H, the only other good in this book was the hot detailed sex scenes. But, again, it was due to H’s intensity for h.

29yo h was a player who boasted about her many sexual conquests with millionaires, athletes, musicians, and hot men. She was aggressive and open about her sexual history and interest. She was aiming to have sex with her friend’s rockstar brother but ended up having sex and then later marrying H in Vegas while she was drunk. She had very little recollection about that night she married H. H had to re-enact it @ the end @ the location he proposed to her 1 year before and give her all the details (most of which she didn’t remember still) of how they went from insulting each other @ a party in LA to getting married in Vegas hours later.
No info on 30s investor H’s sex history except for him dating a woman who was serious and responsible like him. But he broke it off with her after he 1st talked to h on the phone since he became smitten with h since. Both H and h became celibate and sober after their drunken wedding night together in Vegas. When h was about 7 months preggo, H and h’s celibacy ended when they smexxed each other again.

If anyone knows me, they know that I’m obsessed with this series and I try to recommend it to everyone I know. Elizabeth O’Roark writing is one of my favorites; it’s funny, entertaining, and the banter makes me fall in love with every single couple she creates. Disappointed to say that I did not love Keeley and Graham as much as I thought I would.
This is an enemies to lovers, accidental pregnancy romance with a grumpy MMC and a sunshine (and a bit ditsy) FMC. After drunkenly getting hitched and pregnant in Vegas, Graham moves in with Keeley. Being complete opposites, they bicker (a lot) and have very different opinions when it comes to preparing for the arrival of their kid. Some of this was charming to read like seeing them become friends and Keeley learning to trust and feel comfortable around Graham and vice versa. Keeley isn’t the best at taking care of herself, immature almost, and Graham learns to accept it and embrace it and eventually even appreciate her chaotic energy.
At other points, it’s a bit painful to see a pair of 30 year old somethings act the way they did. O’Roark really delivers on enemies to lovers because when they did fight, I wasn’t convinced they actually liked each other. I didn’t get enough of the flirty banter with them as we did with the other couples to make up for it so their chemistry there lacked a bit. Some of the things Graham says - a specific comment about after seeing a group of girls walking in crop tops and short skirts, and I quote, “Jesus Christ. I don’t want a daughter” also did not sit right with me, especially since Keeley is quite literally pregnant with his child. Really odd comment and definitely wasn’t needed.
There are cameos from the other couples (Ben + Gemma are still the cutest ever) that really wrap up the series well. Overall, the writing here is still good, and for the most part, I enjoyed it. I just didn’t love Keeley and Graham together or individually. The ending really boosted the rating, but for the most part, I had a hard time rooting for them.

BUT I LOVED this book.
Really grumpy overprotective guy drunk married the sunshine hot independent girl. They go their separate ways … until she realized she’s pregnant.
Unmatched banter between these two !!!
Reading the blurb, I thought that Keeley was going to be annoyingly irresponsible but I was wrong, she was so likable and fun !

Loved this one. Loved!!!! I though Gemma and Ben were my favorite, but Graham and Keeley are my new babies. I am such a freaking sucker for a Vegas marriage with a side of “My Wife” so when they woke up with those rings, my heart soared. Until she ruined it. Let me back up. Keeley and Graham meet each other over the phone while planning a party to celebrate Graham’s brother Ben marrying Gemma. They’re polar opposites, Keeley being wild and fancy free and Graham being Very Serious and Responsible. They have some drinks, and wake up in bed together. And then they do it all over again, only the second time they’ve gotten married in Vegas. Keeley sneaks out, and in a few months discovers that she got more than a husband that weekend. She got a baby too!
Graham is determined to make sure Keeley is taking care of herself and their baby, so he moves in and they begin the process of getting to know each other…a very long and grueling process. He’s horrified that she eats junk food, doesn’t stand up for herself at work, and generally goes through life by spending her money on whatever she pleases. Keeley is annoyed by his ability to make her feel judged constantly, the fact that he’s so freaking handsome and infuriating, and that he doesn’t seem nearly as preoccupied with her as she is with him. And then FINALLY they give it a go of being together and it implodes pretty horribly. Which I saw coming, but not really in how it happened. And everything that happened after just made me fall in love with this book!
The banter between these two was of course there, and it was hilarious, but I loved Graham and Keeley so freaking much even without it. Keeley is one of the most adorable FMCs ever, and not in an overdone annoying way. I adored her and I loved how Graham also adored her. And when I read what really happened before they got married I almost cried. So sweet. Graham realizing that his life didn’t have color until he met Keeley, SWOOON!!!!!! And I loved the little looks we got at our other couples, I loved those too. Especially the moment between Josh and Drew and Six, I died laughing! Sigh. How, oh how I wanted to love this book. I kept on reading hoping Keeley would stop being a shallow, vain, Kardashian wannabe loser but sadly her character arc came too late for me to barely even like her in the end.
"Our daughter will be famous,” she says to me, eyes gleaming. It’s one fucking interview, and she’s already spun this out into a future as a talk- show host. “Can you imagine? She could, like, be on the Kids’ Choice Awards and go glamping with all the little Kardashians in a private jet.”
She was just so annoying and I get she's had a time with her mum dying young but the way she behaved just got on my nerves and she was a DOCTOR???? How on earth is a doctor so useless at basic biology.
I loved Graham and he's absolutely my favorite kind of grumpy hero but my problem was I didn't understand what he saw in Keeley and I felt that we never really got the answer for 90% of the book because they were both so drunk when the baby making and marriage happened (conveniently it was all left out) but even when we do get some answers I was still like "huh....really??? Some good sex and you decided she was it for you????" Nah, didn't buy it.
I feel terrible for not liking this book and if it had been any other author I would have thrown it in at 40% but this author is great and the writing was good but I just loathed the h too much to enjoy it. She's honestly a step above hot mess and I just couldn't deal.

Elizabeth O’Roark has delivered with every single book in this series! Keeley & Graham meet when they are planning a party for mutual friends, they butt heads immediately, but all that banter quickly turns into a drunken post party hook up. multiple nights in a row. and then one night accidentally ending up in vegas... they go their separate ways, thinking that's the end, until Keeley realizes she's pregnant—oop!
Keeley is hilarious and simultaneously a mess and a completely independent successful doctor. she's oblivious to how bad Graham wants her, i love how he just knows she is the one for him from the beginning. he's just patiently waiting for her to catch up.
Elizabeth O'Roark writes witty banter and tension better than anyone, and this was no exception. this series is easily one of my favorites of the year! this is the 4th book, but can be read as a standalone.

I personally think The Devil Gets his Due is one of those books you’re supposed to take not too seriously (or at all) to truly enjoy it but it’s hard to remain at surface level when heavy themes are coming at you every chapter or so, being made a redundant issue all throughout. CW for Take your pick.
Both main characters were considerably hard to love. Keeley was irritating as hell despite being all sunshine, her binge watching Bridgerton and obsession with 365 Days Netflix not nearly enough to make me love her. Graham was stuck in some overbearing misogynistic asshole role despite being a complete simp for Keeley. Of course they both have their reasons for behaving as they do, some even originating from childhood trauma but… ugh. I hated them more than I loved them. They had their moments in the last 15% but overall, I didn’t care for either of them and couldn’t buy into their romance.
The tropes I usually enjoy sadly didn’t work for me here because of the miserable chemistry on page and how the author had Keeley and Graham continously evade the circumstances of their falling into bed twice for WAY TOO LONG. Especially knowing their forced proximity and current situation originated from it.
I found it lazy to have them conveniently drunk both time they fell into bed and then have them ignore the issue of their attraction for each other for almost all Keeley’s pregnancy. They couldn’t find one time during all those months together to have a proper conversation. This is where your ability to suspend disbelief comes in handy or you’ll find them both aggravating. There’s only so much miscommunication a reader can excuse until the whole story becomes rubbish.
But as I said starting this review, better not take anything too seriously or you’ll end up disappointed. In the end, both my inability to suspend disbelief and stale chemistry got the best of my enjoyment. I didn’t care for the tension the author tried to build from Keeley’s lack memories of her night with Graham+wedding night due to drunkenness.

More than anger I’m actually disappointed in this author. Because I really liked her as well as her books. But oh well it’s true when they say watch out for, when a little success can gets to somebody’s head..
There are two incidences of racist remarks which obviously white people would consider a «general observation» or whatever deluded terminology they would like to use.
But it doesn’t stop here, yesterday someone messaged the author too, to take those words/parts down because they were derogatorily racist towards Asians but author plainly refused because she didn’t find them to be?
First, you can’t and shouldn’t speak for us.
Second even so, you’re not sure, the least you could do is talk and discuss with someone who is the part of that community.
Third, no representation is better than a bad one. Periodt!
Cherry on the top is in the veil of enemies to lovers, the hero is a sexist and a 🐽 and the heroine is starkly pathetic too.
P.s: also, this is one of the ugliest covers of hers that I have ever seen

December 4, 2022DNF - fluffy headed sex-crazed gal and grumpy dude have a one-night stand for no reason at all in the 1st 5% of the book. I need a little more build up and tension. I couldn’t figure out why either of them gave each other a single 2nd thought. She’s was just looking to get laid with really anything with the right equipment and somehow he thought it was hot? I guess??

GOD, do I wish Elizabeth O’Roark had a backlist of hundreds of books for me to get lost in!!
I didn’t think I’d love a couple as much or even more than I did Ben and Gemma buuuuuuuuuuut …
This is by far one of the best opposites journey I have read in a very long time. This author writes characters that are perfectly suited for whatever circumstance she wants to write, especially the opposites trope! She doesn’t miss a beat with characterization and development, not a single one! Seriously, not a single one!
Graham and Keeley’s journey takes off running from the very beginning and keeps on running throughout the entire story! The are absolute fire together in every possible way. Everything from the banter to the sexy-sexy to everything lit me up from the inside out! I was ridiculously happy the entire time I read their story because it felt real and relatable to me. It’s a story I could easily see myself jumping into and that’s my favorite type of story! It was engaging and fun and a total #swoomfest!
Told in dual POV (which is not a thing this author has done in this series), I cannot wait to jump into the audio ASAP! It is going to be ridiculously good; I FEEL IT!

From my review of the story, you already know how in love I was with their journey, but it’s a whole other level of ridiculous greatness in audio format. I can’t say I’d recommend one format over the other because both experiences were incredibly good for me, but if you get the chance to pick, I’d 1000% go with the audio! GAH, I love this story so much!!

i think this is the end of the series and i’m so sad 😭
keeley and graham have a drunken one night stand that leaves to another night and then a marriage in vegas and a little bundle of joy, surprise! graham moves in with keeley to help her prepare for the baby and she’s the chaos to his routine and order. they start out as tense, bickering roommates but something in the way they’re total opposites is very right.
like all the others, i loved this book too. keeley was so chaotic but my heart hurt for her past and everything she did to self-sabotage. graham was the perfect rock for her waves to crash against and i loved them sm.
as always, the banter and tension were perfection 🤌🏼

“Look, my vagina is always right here,” I say, waving in its vicinity. “It’s your sperm that somehow were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m not sure how that’s my fault.”
i'm gonna be honest, the devil gets his due should have been a one thousand percent slam dunk for me. instead, idk … i enjoyed it. i read it in one sitting. and yet … there was something about this story that didn't scrape the surface.
all the tropes were there:

accidental pregnancy
grumpy hero
sunshine heroine
opposites attract
hero falls first
like, it was all there. but idk, i think the execution of some of those tropes had me feeling a bit lackluster. for example, the enemies to lovers thing … what was the reason? like, i don't really understand the initial dislike on … omigod what is the heroines name … on … i don't understand why *reads gr summary* KEELEY didn't like graham. was it because he liked math?
she's a doctor, so i'm a bit confused. what about graham seemed so boring? and also, the whole reveal that graham had been secretly pining for keeley since their first conversation … uh huhhhhhhhh. idk, this man came in HOT when he realized keeley was pregnant. he was out here acting like hell had frozen over and he was stuck in subzero elevator with satan himself.
that said, once the book got going and i saw that authors ✨vision✨ i was invested. it's just … even towards the end i couldn't help but feel as though this book should've had my whole heart. instead, the devil got his due temporarily had my interest. which, is not a bad thing. tdghd was entertaining as hell. and it's still a solid recommend from me.
personally that spark was missing but that does not diminish the fun i had reading.

I always enjoy Elizabeth O'Roark's books and this one was no different. The chemistry, the swoon, the characters, the plot and the setting, everything was just perfection! Graham & Keeley just stole my heart the moment they met. The plot and the situations sometimes left me feeling overwhelmed but the way Keeley & Graham's relationship slowly but gradually progressed, was very endearing. I loved every minute of reading about their life together and I just loved this couple so much it's unexplainable! Keeley was such a bubbly and kind character that it was impossible for me to even dislike her. I enjoyed seeing all her quirks because she was so funny (and adorably so) and I liked how much she cared about every single person around her. Graham bought the stability and discipline that she needed in her life and without realising it, they became each other's everything. I loved how deeply they needed each other and there was never a dull moment when they started their usual bickering lol! Overall, this book was perfectly constructed and flawless and I can't wait to read more from the author!

3.5! I loved Graham but Keeley kind of drove me up the wall 😭. She was very cute though and I really liked her once she got her head on straight.

The Devil Gets His Due is the 4th book in this author’s standalone Devils series, the books are slightly connected as they all belong to the same friend group so you do see some of the characters/couples from previous books make appearances. This one is a surprise pregnancy and surprise drunken Vegas wedding. So knowing all of that I went into this one a little wary but I have read every single book by Elizabeth O’Roark so I also wanted to get to it. That said, the first 2 books in this series were great for me and the last 2…not so much.
Graham and Keeley first meet while planning a party together for her best friend Gemma and his brother Ben (the couple of the previous book, The Devil You Know). They end up having a drunken one night stand which leads to them waking up after a drunken Vegas wedding as well! They live 3,000 miles apart on opposite coasts and so after the wedding, they go their separate ways. Graham is a multi-millionaire and Keeley is a doctor (a dermatologist). 4 months later Keeley finds out she’s pregnant and shortly after Graham finds out at a family holiday dinner from her friend. Graham is the one who wants to make things work, he moves in with Keeley and we see him trying to make things comfortable/real between them. Keeley on the other hand is very wary of the whole situation, while she’s always secretly wanted to be a mom and have a child, she also has a lot of fears (including dying early because the women in her family have).
This was a slow burn, with them not getting together until 70% in. Honestly I don’t mind a slow burn so that wasn’t an issue with me. But Keeley’s character was a bit much…she read very immature, she’s supposed to be 29 but acts like a flippant, flighty, irresponsible teenager most of the time. Her actions, choices, and conversations had me shaking my head at her character so many times. There were also some moments from both characters that kind of made me cringe/rubbed me the wrong way: his odd comments about the way women dress (comparing a dress Keeley owns to something a “child prostitute” would wear, him seeing teens dressed in crops tops and commenting “Jesus Christ I do not want a daughter”). And then her feeling inconvenienced when someone calls for a doctor at a restaurant when a woman has gone into labor (cause she “just wants to eat her chicken tikka while it’s hot”, it is mentioned multiple times). Now I did like that the audio was already out as soon as the book dropped and the dual audio narrators was nice. I also thought Graham had some nicer moments of caretaking of her.
