Rate this book
Rushing car of Saad beside the bus in which Asad and Jamila were standing on the wide road of Empress Market, passing through the Cantt Station where some longed for Anand for decades, holds the tales of happiness, melancholy, and numbness, giving you so many lessons at a second, in Karachi. The city has a stock market beside Jang Press Gali and near Lea Market, where Liaquat and Dilruba rule, letting Farishtay suffer at night when Jibran finds his breath, becoming the reason for someone's regret.

Wealth In The Treehouse is written to showcase the lives of commoners in the city where all are grey characters, having the harshest story to tell, which are fictionalized in nine short stories, having dialogues in both Roman Urdu and English that describes how my Karachi looks like.

Wealth in the Treehouse: Stories of Karachiites by Aqsa Abdul Qadir is a gentle and thoughtful collection of short stories that gives a glimpse into everyday life in Karachi. The characters feel real and relatable, and the situations they face are ones many readers can recognize. The author’s writing is simple but meaningful, which makes the stories easy to read while still leaving a strong emotional impact.

What makes this book stand out is the way it focuses on emotions rather than dramatic events. The stories quietly explore love, loneliness, faith, loss, and hope. Aqsa Abdul Qadir does not try to impress with complex plots; instead, she allows the feelings and inner struggles of her characters to take center stage. This makes the stories feel honest and deeply personal.

The title Wealth in the Treehouse beautifully reflects the message of the book. It suggests that real wealth is not about money, but about emotional depth, memories, and moments of self-reflection. The idea of a “treehouse” feels like a safe, private space where characters pause, think, and understand themselves better. This symbolism adds charm and depth to the overall reading experience.

Overall, this book is a calm and meaningful read, especially for those who enjoy realistic stories with emotional depth. Wealth in the Treehouse leaves the reader with a sense of quiet understanding and reflection. Aqsa Abdul Qadir successfully shows that even ordinary lives hold extraordinary value.
