A dead body is just the beginning. Pastor Ephraim Rosenbaum’s life is thrown into chaos when a young woman is murdered in his office. Rumors swirl and suspicion abounds, as even his colleagues and friends question his innocence. With public opinion against him, threats turn to violence, jeopardizing not only his life, but the lives of those he loves.
A life altering decision leads to an unexpected path of danger. Special Agent Dalton Fowler has valiantly fought The Shadows, but when he’s forced past a point of no return, he finds himself looking over his shoulder at every step. When asked to help Ephraim prove his innocence, he jumps at the chance to do something that doesn’t involve The Shadows… or so he thinks.
The Shadows won’t stop until Ephraim is discredited – or dead. As The Shadows target Ephraim, Dalton works to uncover the truth and keep Ephraim alive. Evidence vanishes and false evidence is planted, complicating the investigation and making Ephraim look even guiltier. Can Dalton unravel the mess in time to stop The Shadows’ plot? Or will The Shadows succeed in killing thousands of people, starting with Ephraim?

Dead Shadow The Shadows, Book 4 By: Candle Sutton Narrated by: Brittany Goodwin
Totally hooked. That is what I am to this series. To true to life, this brainwashing in this case inside a church is happening everywhere and people love the koolaid. This book features Ephraim, a pastor who recently had a co-worker murdered in his office. So who is the suspect? Ephraim has a lot going on in his life, his wife is dying of cancer, his congregation is loosing faith and now this putting huge pressure on him. But all through it, his faith in what God wants does not wain. With the help of his wife, Dalton(yes, he's back!) the bodyguard who also has been through some difficulties and those who still see what is real all help to find the real culprit. Could the Shadows be in his church? And what is their endgame? This is packed with family love, true belief and loyalty and shocking suspense. The perfect kind of listen. And the Shadows are here now! What's next? I can't wait to hear.
Brittany Goodwin continues her fantastic narration of this series. Bringing back characters from previous books with the same voices and intonation and creating new ones for this, the 4th installment is just a joy to hear. She keeps the emotions high and the suspense thrilling.
This is one of the best series I have read in many years. It has a high level of suspense, shocking revelations, and much more! In this fourth book, Dalton will come face-to-face with a decision that will change his life. He has been struggling with issues, throughout the series. Malachi, another character who you will find throughout the series, also changes more lives. The pastor struggles with trying to not only revive a dying Congregation, but trying to stay alive in the process. Kendall does a great job of showing the reader the struggle between good and evil. This is a truly addictive book, and series! This is a wonderful series for both, non-Christian and Christians alike. You will not be disappointed. I urge you to read all four books. The shadows are not what you think, each book reveals a little more about who they are. It should be enough to terrify us all! Now, go get the books.
The Shadow series has me totally hooked. This one, like the others, is filled with mystery, suspense and adventure. What a great combination for the reader. There are the evil characters and the good characters, those who fight God and those who stand for Him, a church that is led by a dangerous head pastor and only three under him that stand for God's truth. And so we have the classic battle between good and evil in a spiritual battle. Very well written and a clean book; no inappropriate language or content!
The narration was very good a using different voices to express the character and attitudes of the characters.
I received this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I am speechless. I’ve finished listening to this story in two days and haven’t reviewed it right away – because I was speechless – this story is so on the spot, so realistic regarding the condition of some churches and faith of many. It broke my heart, but it also solidified my faith and the urgency to follow in His steps and His guidance. Wonderful characters that we meet yet again, intriguing plot, and an amazing narration – I couldn’t put it down. I received an audio copy of this book; I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own.
This book in the series, pointed out the sad reality, of some Christian churches today. It seems at first blush, like they are thriving. Generally they are very BIG churches, with all sorts of seemingly exciting programs etc.
But the sad truth is they are dead... Because they just tickle the ears of the sheep. They tell the folks what they want to hear, and there is little to no, real Bible study, talk of Sin, Jesus, Hell etc etc.
But of course there is a lot more going on, mystery, murder, persecution, etc.
I love this series! Sutton is spot on with some spiritual things that are happening in the world today. This is the fourth book in this series, and every time I read one of her books, she touches on things that are happening in my life, even though the book is fiction. If you haven't read any of her books, you're missing out!
What a power work of Christian fiction. The 4 book series was so incredible and I loved each one but especially this 4th one. I highly recommend it and you won't be disappointed.
Candle Sutton gives you a lot of things to ponder! You can feel God’s power through the words! We all need to be reminded that we are not in control, God is, and if we let him guide us, we will be right with him. In the end, that is all that matters.
So accurately describes the modern church its scary!
Well written and exciting to read. Great insights about our modern "Christian" culture that every young and old person should read it! Clean, exciting, and thought provoking like usual for this series!
I love this book as well as the others. I could hardly put it down. It was very fast paced, but not too fast where you don't know what is going on. I have already started the Deadly series.
I’ve sure been enjoying this series. I was just a little bit disappointed that the minor character, Malachi, didn’t have a greater presence in this book. I like the way the author is developing her character, Dalton.
