The Chaos Series #1

The Chaos Wielder: A Dark Urban Fantasy

Rate this book
Xavia had been content with her life as a bounty hunter. She had control over her own contracts, got to sleep where and with whom she wanted, and could drown in the bloodlust that was cage fighting. Even when blackouts threatened to leave her dead in a ditch, she took life for what it was; chaotic. That is, until her life is upended when the Angel of Wrath crash lands into Euhaven and destroys her city. Xavia's called upon by the Monarch to join a Special Forces team to find The Chaos Wielder; the only being in the world that can defeat the Angel of Wrath. When Xavia falls for two males on the team, will she be able to focus on the mission or will she get swept up in their fire and storm?Aurelio wasn't quite sure how he could get through to Xavia. After knowing her for twelve years, he hoped that she would realize that her life was teetering on the edge of oblivion. He loved her, not just as a friend, but more. But how could he say that without risking his heart being broken again? When the Monarch adds Xavia to his Special Forces team, he isn't sure what is worse; her being in danger, or his need to have her.Quade hated Xavia with a passion. He hated the way she led his Captain and best friend, Aurelio, on for years. He always had to clean up the mess she left Aurelio in. Having only seen her a few times over the last decade, it comes as a surprise when he finds he's immediately attracted to her when they prepare for the Monarch's mission. His fury met hers and their mutual disdain for each other was clear. The question was; when would they implode? The Chaos Wielder is a dark urban fantasy about a bounty hunter's lifelong struggle with the scars of her past, her mental health conditions, and being torn between loving two men at once. This novel is dark in nature and has many CWs. Please be sure to heed those before reading.

Magic, Vampires, Demons. I'm sold.
Backstory, world building, characters and spice - everything is absolutely on point.
I couldn't stop reading, what an awesome scenario.

The way the characters' lives merge is fantastic, I love me a book with many POVs and I can't wait for the next part.

Mixed Feelings

This was a manic bipolar book. With extreme highs and extreme lows and very very little in between. I have the barest grasp on if I enjoyed this or not, I legitimately don’t know. I found a few things incredibly annoying which pushes me into the it wasn’t column. But it was compelling enough that I wanted to finish that has me straddling the it was enjoyable column. The plot twist that came in at around 83% was good but I can’t decide if the reason I didn’t see it coming was because the author did a good job of misdirecting or a bad job of dropping hints. Or if maybe I just would have preferred the information be given to me little by little instead of saving it all for the end. I am very conflicted. I think the pace was probably a touch to slow and that maybe there was too much focus on the relationships. Again mixed confused feelings.

I received an arc and this is my honest review!

The Chaos Wielder releases on KU on 16/08.

There are trigger warnings mentioned in this book, please check them out before reading!

”I’m not going anywhere. No matter where you go. No matter how dirty life gets. You will never be alone again. You’re worth breathing for. You’re worth loving and living for.”

Again, I just want to shout out the fact there’s a map and pronunciation guides in this book. I’ve said it before in other reviews but it really is an appreciated added touch!

TCW is a a dark fantasy with modern touches. We have cars, guns, etc and it all blends seamlessly in this whole new world. There’s different God(dess’s), vampires, demons, angels and Wielders who I’d akin to mages in a way.

It’s split into 3 parts and I have to admit, I struggled with the 1st. Getting used to the characters and multiple pov’s was an adjustment but the 2nd and 3rd definitely picked up! Especially when you now have a better understanding of who all the characters are and what they contribute to the mission/story. I don’t want to say too much though, because then I’ll have to put a spoiler tag up!

Xavia is our bratty, strong fmc who knows how to handle herself. She gives no fucks and I genuinely love reading that about her. But there’s more to her story than that, she has more depth as we find out through the later parts and it really made me like her more. It really is my fave mix for an fmc, rather than a dainty wallflower.

I’m torn on this aspect but I actually think that Aurelio is our MMC, closely followed by Quade. They really are a good Ying/Yang balance for each other. Both Wielders in their own right, passionate and very feisty. While they do share some similar traits, they’re also completely different too and I love how their own personalities shine through.

There’s some interesting spice scenes 👀 that are laced within these pages, for all the lovers of smut!

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the whole immersion into this world. The reason I’m giving it a 4 ⭐️ rather than 5, is because of part 1 and sometimes I found it to be a little repetitive. That’s absolutely my own opinion though and I don’t think it detracts from the world Cosby has created.

I’d absolutely rec this though and I can’t wait for the second!

I was lucky enough to be one of the first to read "The Chaos Wielder" by Anissa Cosby. This book is full of wonderfully diverse and well-developed characters who embark on a quest to save the world from an evil Angel. Cosby has created an alien world rich with unique plant and animal life as well as monsters and demons, all of which the main characters must battle or ally with to save the day. In the course of their journey, Xavia, Aurelio, and Quade connect with each other romantically and oh boy is it hot! Watching their developing relationship provides a welcome break from the darker aspects of the story, especially the Vampires and the violence they wreck. Cosby does a wonderful job balancing violence and peace, plot and character growth, as well as showcasing each character's strengths and flaws. Keeping you on edge to the very end, "The Chaos Wielder" will surprise you at every turn and keep you guessing even when you think you've figured it out.

4.5 ⭐️

I’ll start my review by saying that I’m not generally attracted to urban fantasy. Why do I say this? Because I really liked The Chaos Wielder. So, I want to emphasise that even someone like me, who isn’t generally attracted to the genre, can be entranced by this book.

The story was truly amazing. A. E. Cosby’s descriptions made me curse the fact that I have aphantasia, as I wished I could have imagined them in my head—the colours of this world being some of my favourites.

The characters are very interesting. I really liked the dynamic between Xavia, Aurelio and Quade. They’re different and complementary at the same time. Another character that really intrigued me was Styx. The mystery surrounding her made me very curious.

I look forward to reading the other books in the series soon.

I highly recommend this book.

This is a dark, queer, gritty space opera with paranormal fantasy elements, and I LOVED it. It’s a really random combination of vibes, but it worked SO WELL for me!

All of the characters are incredibly flawed, which I also love. If you’re expecting everyone to make good choices because they’re in their 30s, you will be incredibly disappointed! There’s a lot of trauma being worked through and handled in a variety of ways, and definitely not all of them are healthy. But that doesn’t mean they’re not relatable!

I loved the multi POV way the story was told, and how each character had a distinct voice. It was a super fast read for me, and I’m definitely interested to see where the story goes next.

I can’t stop thinking this book! I had every thing I’m looking for in a great read: strong plot, cool magic systems, romance, and fun characters. Definitely read the author’s note at the beginning because it helps set up the world as far as languages go and it made it easier on pronunciations even though a guide is provided in the front. I easily fell into to world and the plot but the book does have some darker themes so check out the trigger warnings. This one does end on a bit of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next in the series.
Thank yo so much to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review

ARC review
I truly enjoyed this book.
There were definitely some things that were predictable in regards to some of the characters and plot but not enough to make this book boring or to take away from the book as a whole.
The sexual tension was just enough to draw you in and the spice scenes were very well written. This book gave you plot twists that you were expecting as well as some dad truly catches you off guard. But overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely rank it 4.5 to 5 stars out of 5 and I can't wait for the second book.

This book is the perfect blend of sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, and romance.

Right from the start, we get thrown into the action, and the story doesn't let up. Despite there being quite a lot of violence and trauma in this story, the characters still had some lighter moments, which I enjoyed.
The development of the polyromance felt organic. They all have their demons from the past, and it was kind of comforting to see them be understanding towards each other, communicating their needs and being eachothers peace.

The finale had me reading with a dropped jaw, and I'm pumped for the next book!

Well now that I’m done screaming at that ending…This book was such a great balance of sci-fi, fantasy, and romance. All of our main characters, and even the side characters, are wonderfully fleshed out and have an identity and voice so true to themselves. Not to mention the spice??? The spice, baby!! I will not be choosing a favorite, I fear I will combust if I try. 10/10 recommend 😭

I hate that it's taken me this long after finishing to write this review 😭, because I absolutely LOVED this book! Definitely one of my top reads of 2023! This was such an awesome urban fantasy book that just kept GIVING, y'all! And throw in all the juicy spice/kink...WHEWEEEE!!! But y'all better mind that cliffy at the end, cuz it's gonna grab ya! Needless to say, my heart has been snatched by this book and these characters and I absolutely cannot wait to experience more of this world and series from Cosby!

First off, I cannot go without saying that reading this book was such a fun and exciting EXPERIENCE as a reader. It felt like I was reading a "story-party" that I got invited to by the author. HAHA! Now you may be wondering..."What the hell is a "story-party"???" FEAR NOT! I'm gonna tell you!!! First, Cosby gives us an incredibly detailed and heartfelt Author's Note and Content Warnings list in the beginning, really setting the stage, drawing you in, and immediately making you feel welcome to this ride you're about to step into. Secondly, if you've read any of my reviews involving book playlists, you already know that I absolutely LOVE it when authors put together playlists that accompany their books. Well not only did Cosby make an extensive playlist for this book, but she has it catalogued with footnotes of where exactly in the book she intended for the song to be played/relevant. Dude, that sh*t was a freakin game-changer for me. I've never had that in a book and I f'kn loved it! It just makes the book so much more interactive, and yes, they are included in the ebook version as well! 😁

Now let's get into this story y'all. One of the first things I noticed right off the bat was the level of description and detail this went into about the world and environment. And so effortlessly as well! It was so easily incorporated into the story that I could just see and feel what the characters were experiencing and it felt like I was right there with them. In addition, each character was described in such detail that I got such a clear picture in my mind of what they looked like. I LOVE when authors do this, because my mind just blanks out faces and whole bodies if you don't give me details like that to go on and I don't like feeling like that. It also makes it hard to connect to the characters/story. So with this book, I instantly felt involved and connected with the characters and the world and they continued to draw me in the further I got into it.

This book is told in multiple POVs of the main characters: Xavia, Aurelio, Quade, Jacinto, and Styx

Speaking of characters...I have NEVER felt more connected to an FMC in a book than I did when reading about Xavia. Even down to the most minute of details, like her not remembering to take her birth control pills! Girl, me too! She's also older than most FMCs we read about these days (she's 35). She's a curvy bisexual with some BIG switch energy, and she is a total badass fighter/bounty hunter who doesn't take shit from anybody. She also suffers from fugue states where she essentially blacks out and can't remember what's happened or what she's done and often wakes up in odd places or unexpected situations (very mysterious). Within the first few pages of reading about her, I was hooked.

Then we have the second part of the throuple of this book...Xavia's golden retriever subby Aurelio, oh my sweet baby Aurelio. He is a storm wielder and the captain of the group that embarks on their journey to find the Chaos Wielder. He and Xavia have history, but due to Xavia's inability to commit, they never became more than FWB, despite Aurelio definitely wanting more. Aurelio was such a sweet and sexy character! And he was soooo open and willing to learn more and please Xavia, I absolutely loved it. And the dynamic shift once the third member, Quade became involved...ooo lord chile...mans is male subby perfection.

Speaking of Quade...the fire wielder is the perfect opposing end of the spectrum compared to Aurelio for Xavia. He is all hard lines and rough moves, not sweet and gentle like Aurelio, but it is PERFECTION for this group. Quade is also able to provide Xavia with a home mentally where she can just kind of lay it all out and give it all up. But it doesn't happen easily! OH NO! Those two go AT it as "enemies" (mhmm, we know how that sh*t goes, LOL) for sooo many pages and I was constantly saying "When are y'all gonna just F**K already??" 🤣🤣🤣

The three of them as a poly team (throuple) takes things to a whole 'nother level. I was already really digging the vibes and the story and all, but then they go and just open things all up like that between Quade and Aurelio and I was just a goner...absolutely dead to the world GONE...down BAD for these characters. Their openness and and willingness to explore with each other (all three of them) was just incredibly beautiful and sexy as hell. The spice was just fabulous in this y'all. There's even a little bit of shibari incorporated in there, ooo boi, she good.

Jacinto and Styx were kind of more mysterious characters that I'm not going to dive into too much here so as not to spoil anything. But I will say that both of them were sexy as hell and intrigued me and I can't wait to see where their stories go.

The magic/power system in this book was pretty cool and felt solid, very avatar/elemental bender-ish, which I enjoyed. But the setting is urban sci-fi, so the incorporation of the those two elements: the elemental wielding along with the sci-fi fantasy world building/plot was all-around very fascinating to me. Like I could totally see this story as an anime.

The plot was quite mysterious at times, yet it flowed well. I constantly wanted to know what was going to happen and couldn't stop reading. Definitely had some good twisties up in there that I did NOT see coming.

Overall, I would/have/will continue to recommend this book/series with my whole entire chest and I'm so excited for what's to come from this author! Y'all gotta check this out! Happy reading! 🤙🏼💕

I want to preface this by saying that I did enjoy this book! I wasn’t sure I would at the beginning, but I’m glad that I powered through! It starts out a bit slow plot-wise, with the writing seeming to “tell you” everything that’s happening, rather than having the reader experience it with the characters. It did take me out of the story a bit. However, it starts to pick up the pace around the end of Part 1. I found that Parts 2 and 3 had the story moving along smoother, both plot-wise and the writing in general. It really started to suck me in around the middle of Part 2. I did find that some of the major parts of the story were predictable, but there were enough surprises that helped break that up!

Overall I liked it and thought the story only got better and better. I can’t wait to read book 2!

I was lucky enough to get the ARC for this book. The book definitely started off a little slow and honestly a bit confusing with all of the different characters. It did pick up in Part 2 and 3. The intensity of the book and the drama was well worth the slow start. Needless to say the book was actually amazing and worth the read when it is officially released. Also, I’m pretty sure I have a new book boyfriend because Quade sir. You can call me a brat any day :)

I was very lucky to be chosen to be an ARC reader for The Chaos Wielder.
This is a strong first book in a brand new series.
The attention to detail and world building allowed me to see the world as it unfurled around me.
I have already pre-ordered my physical copy of this book when it releases on August 16th.
I just hope I am lucky enough to be an ARC reader for book 2 when the time comes.

Xavia has trouble with authority. Leaving the Academy to branch out as a Bounty Hunter, Xavia can not only take care of herself, but she enjoys doing it. However, she fears that she may be losing herself, with increasing black outs leading her to coming back to herself battered and bruised; dangerous situations are becoming more frequent than ever.
When Xavia is forced into a mission with her ex turned best friend Aurelio, and his Elite Special Forces team called Alpha Phoenix, she finds herself out of her depth. They must find the legendary Chaos Wielder before the God of Wrath destroys the world around them. With shadowy demons infecting those around them and death close on their tail, the team must travel to the Dark Continent to plead for assistance.
As the world seems to be collapsing around them, Xavia can’t help but feel the pull between herself and Aurelio growing ever stronger. Add into the mix, the fury filled second in command, Quade. He has a knack for pushing all of her buttons, seeing the worst in her and blaming her for breaking Aurelio’s heart.

With the book split into 3 parts, I enjoyed the pacing and felt that it fit each individual part perfectly. I found myself drawn into the story and emotions each time I picked up the book. Cosby touches on some dark topics throughout the book including depression and suicidal inclinations. She does an amazing job by letting you experience the emotions without glorifying them. Other difficult topics are touched upon in a sophisticated manner. A trigger warning list is included at the start of the book to forewarn readers. Saying this, the book was not as dark as I was expecting upon reading the trigger warnings.
Throughout the book, Cosby hints towards an outcome. I enjoyed how she allowed this aspect of the story to unfold. In my opinion it was very intentionally done and not meant to be a complete secret as I have seen other readers commenting on. It is not predictable if it is meant to be predicted.
I felt that any potential plot holes were explained before they even popped into my head. I can see the world expanding exponentially in the second book. The ending was shocking! I now understand some other reviews where readers were outraged that Cosby could do such a thing. I was not expecting that particular twist and need to see what happens next ASAP! Then the final sentence…. Wow. I need the next book NOW!

Chaotic Non-Spoiler Review

Who doesn’t like a book that makes you pour a drink?

The Chaos Wielder by A.E. Cosby twisted and tormented me in every way I love when I dive deep into dark fantasy. The world-building, complex characters, and epic heist are unmatched. The plot was plotting nonstop, and the action-packed pacing flowed seamlessly.

I am a reader who prefers plot over smut but loves her smut. Plot being primary and smut being secondary never prevents me from enjoying a good dose of spice. It can be rare to find a balance where both elements coexist without overshadowing each other, which is why if I have to choose, I choose to navigate narratives that are plot-driven. Now, with that being said, I have read some solid smut with a perfect plot, but this book is by far the hottest fantasy book I have read. Not to take away from others that I cherish, but holy Etis and Sortis did this book make me realize how much I love spice with my spice. I loved it as much as I did because of the dynamic of the characters and their genuine desire to offer intimacy in a way that was healing and personalized (mental health rep). Not to mention that the author tricked me into loving one of my least favorite tropes (second chance) while simultaneously offering my favorite dark romance trope (enemies to lovers) on a silver platter, and THEN delivered an MMC Bi-Awakening. The spice enhanced the plot, and the plot enhanced the spice.

Brilliant, beautiful, badass FMCs will always be my favorite, but make them Bratty as well and they become top-tier. Xavia had me spent in more ways than one and nothing could make me hate her. Oh, and I would willingly engage in fist-fight foreplay with her.

Side Characters with Main Character E N E R G Y only make me more invested in the plot and forever have me begging for them to be given more spotlight.

Cliffhangers are deliciously painful, and I will always love them. This one is no different and I cannot wait to be consumed by book two.

“We’re each others”
🔥⚡️🔪🔥⚡️🔪🔥⚡️🔪🔥⚡️🔪

So I am lucky enough to be part of Anissa’s Beta readers and one of her best friends and I’ve been waiting until her ARC’s have dropped to drop my review.
Firstly I would just like to say Anissa I am so immensely proud of you for the release of your first book I honestly think you deserve all the love and praise it’ll receive.

The review:
When xavia is forced into a mission with the Alpha Phoenix squad to find the legendary chaos wielder , she finds herself loving 2 beautiful men Aurelio and Quade who together explore such a heartfelt , natural sexual relationship that it had me in tears
Having said that not everything is that easy and the twists and turns that lead them to the chaos wielder is certainly a rollercoaster you might want to buckle in for.

Cosby explores hard topics within the book touching on things like trafficking, self harm, pain for pleasure , mental illnesses and much much more. I will also add that it’s done in such a natural and caring way that you can tell the author has taken time out to research.

The characters :
Firstly xavia is such a bad ass who comes into her own throughout the book showing the men on multiple occasions just how women do things.
Aurelio, our lightning wielder caring soft and very defensive of xavia brings a breath of fresh air whenever he’s on page
Quade: he’s mine back off there will be no arguments had over the Dom fire wielder that’s all ( also his after care scenes literal tears)
Jacinto: Cosby does a vampire right and holy Tomis did this man have my toes curling !

Overall the book was amazing it has everything you could need from a fantasy read - great world building , relatable and loveable characters and most importantly a reminder that it’s okay to show people our darker sides.

Also the ending : ANISSA WHYYY??

Lord, have mercy!!!! 🥵🔥Yasss!

So I'll admit it took me a bit of time to piece together some coherent thoughts, because to be frank, this book had my mind in places we can't talk about in civilized company....mmkay?

But for starters to say I'm invested in these characters is a serious understatement. I love them so much! I was rooting for them, biting my nails for them, crossing my freaking knees, and balling my eyes out👏 FOR👏 THEM👏! There is action, there is romance, there is drama, and there is steamy raunchy s€x and I loved every. single page.

One of the things that I personally loved about the book wasn't even the story itself but the absolute care and love Cosby put into making this an experience for her readers. Before you even get into the story, she breaks down all the triggers, lists names of people and places (w pronunciation), AND provides a Spotify soundtrack for it. She literally thought of everything. I wasn't just reading this book, I was living in it.

I'd like to add that as a poly individual myself, I found that the relationships felt real and not just there to be edgy. I loved how each character brought something to the relationship, and it wasn't purely sexual. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of that, but the bond and strength they drew from one another was beautiful.

If you love romance, sci-fi, fantasy, and don't mind some darker themes as well, I can not praise this book enough.

I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

I received this as an arc book in exchange for an honest review.

Please read the tigger warnings before reading this book. A.E. Cosby lists them all in the front of the book, along with a map and a pronunciation guide. Which I absolutely loved that she did this.
This book is chaos from start to finish, starting in a fight scene with our badass MFC Xavia. The world building is amazing. The fight scenes and sex scenes are expertly written , and this book is SPICEY 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ It’s dark and twisted, and full of well developed, diverse, and relatable characters. The 3 MMCs ✨chefs kiss✨Aurelio, a storm wielder, who’s sweet and always tries his best to be there for Xavia. Quads, a fire wielder, a hot head dom who is absolutely the sweetest with his after care. And Jacinto, the vampire king. 🥵🥵 It was so good and kept me on my toes with all of the twists and turns. I could not guess what was coming next. And can we talk about the ending?! What a way to end the first book! I’m in the edge of my seat waiting to get my greedy little hands on the next one in the series!

"I'm not going anywhere. No matter where you go. No matter how dirty life gets. You will never be alone again. You're worth breathing for. You're worth loving and living for."

"Let me go."
"Say it like you mean it."

"I don't understand this energy between us. All I know is that I need your wildness. I need your chaos. I see you; you see me. I can drown in the darkness we share and meet Axton as a happy man."

"You're a wildfire, and I'm caught in the flames. But the fire doesn't hurt, it cleanses."

Oh. My. God.

This book hooked me in from page one and refused to let me go until the last page. The plot twists and the cliffhanger on this one, you guys...it's INSANELY good! Xavia is THE badass you wish you knew, and Aurelio and Quade? 🥵 IS IT HOT IN HERE?! Because the spicy scenes left me needing a fan.

Want a book that has a little bit of EVERYTHING...

A.E. Cosby has given us the chance to jump into this fantasy world that will bring us to our knees.

-Smut
-Mental Health
-LGBTQ+
-SMUT
-Human Trafficking
-SMUT

Within the Chaos world we follow 5 MC's, each having their own story to tell along the way.
Xavia our lost soul looking to outrun her past.
Aurelio (cap) who would risk everything for the ones he cares about.
Quade the man who doesn't feel like he belongs, but is loved in so many ways.
Styx our fearless protector whom has hidden secrets.
Jacinto the feared King whom hides his truth deep inside.

Most of the story we follow Xavia, Aurelio, and Quade. While trying to protect their world they are sent on a mission they WILL never forget.

This story will bring you to your knees with questions and WTH moments, but in a GREAT way.

IMO: 5⭐️ 5🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
The world building? The characters and their developments? I loved it all. A.E. Created a whole new world that I want to be a part of! Humans and non-humans, “Wielders” that have supernatural powers, vampires and shifters, this world has them all and more. Unfortunately my Sixth Sense ruined one of the big reveals for me by a certain character’s 2 or 3 POV, but man did she shock me with one heckuva cliffhanger. Xavia is one BADASS woman and I love her so much.

This does have quite a bit of darkness along with the light and spice, so please check trigger warnings. Some triggers include: Implied SA of FMC (fade to black), Mentions of Trafficking, Blood and Gore, Murder, Drug Use, Alcoholism, Graphic Language and Violent, and Mental Health Issues.

OMG! This book deserves more praise and notice because HOLY HELL was it good! I listened to the audiobook and followed along on my kindle. First of all, the narrator (Tempest Mensah) was phenomenal. It is difficult to be able to alter your voice for multiple characters and to perform them in a way that not only brings the book to life but also captures the reader’s attention and Tempest was able to do all that and more with such ease. It is always a brilliant listen when it is her on the mic. Now to the story itself, the world building was off the charts, if you’re a fan on avatar the last airbender then this will have you flipping the pages so quickly. The spice was OFF THE CHARTS HOT! And the plot and twists will have you screaming OMG! 10/10 recommend.

The Chaos Wielder is such a stunning read! The author has created a fantasy world, in detail, that includes Wielding (magic), humans, vampires, Lycans you name it! The descriptions of the scenery are amazing, and makes me want to live in the Nocturnal Dark Continent haha. The romance between Xavia, Aurelio and Quade is a welcome break to the havoc, guts and murder this book has to offer. It’s a nice little “soft” spot in a world of chaos. The characters are very well developed throughout the story. This book is so well written and so diverse, it’ll keep you guessing until the very end and even when you THINK you know it all, that plot twist comes and gets ya.

I loved this book! It did take a little bit to get into it, but it was well worth it (*clears throat*... the ending though!!!) Even though some was predictable, as in many books, there were definitely twists and turns I didn't see coming. I enjoyed the Special Forces side of this book a lot, and the sexual tension was *chefs kiss*. Each character has certain talents/uniqueness about them that made them relatable, even with their dark sides/good sides. I can't wait to read the next one!!

*I was sent this as an ARC for my honest opinion*

Let me start out by saying I received this as an ARC, and my honest opinion is, read it! I will say the first part is a bit slow. But I promise, get through it, and part 2 is definitely better! The characters are very well written, and the story was amazing! (And the spice. Oh man!!) I laughed, I got angry, and I even shed some tears. (Got a few bones to pick with you A. E Cosby) It does end on a cliffhanger, which drives my impatient brain crazy but you best believe I will be reading book 2 the second I get a chance! Thank you for giving me this opportunity to receive an ARC.

Outstanding!!!

This book was outstanding! It’s hard for me to describe because I’ve never read anything quite like it…and I’ve read a lot of books. The detail and the world building took a little time to understand, but once I did it all clicked into place.

I love the aspect of a different world, different abilities, and species of people. It’s like Star Wars mixed with the Underworld if you will. Angels and demons and vampires and super heroes. The smexy scenes were spot on hawt!

I can’t wait to read the next book!!!

I was swept away

This story pulled me in fast. I found myself instantly loving Xavia and her chaotic ways. Quade, Aurelio, and even Jacinto were all so perfectly fleshed out and relatable.
I fell in deep with the fast pace, great action, and fun spicy scenes. Could not put this down. I did not see the twists coming! I absolutely have to know what happens next.
Wonderful world building, great characters, amazing plot: overall, an excellent book I won't soon forget.
