What did I like about this read?
I liked the rose-covered garden at Nantucket and the perennial garden at the old stagecoach stop in Ohio, and some of the wildflowers that were depicted in Colorado; best was the yellow rose of Texas.
The homeowners visited, shared their secrets for success with their applied tried and true techniques that other gardeners could easily incorporate into their own gardens. This book is a treasure trove of information: how to establish climbing roses and vines, and how to plant in recycled containers. There’s an easy reference list which offers recommendations for choosing plants for seasonal color and fragrance—even plants that will attract hummingbirds to your garden, if this is your wish.
There are also lots of ideas for entertaining outdoors, designs for porches and decks, picket fences, gates, weathervanes, and lots of scarecrows. The end of the book is where you’ll find an extensive resource guide that provides the names of regional plant sellers, furniture makers, and good gardening books to wile away the hours on a sunny August afternoon.

This Country Gardens book has something for everyone; being that you are a gardener wanting to do more with your perennials, borders, and shrubs, this book is for you; if wanting to maintain an organic or non-organic vegetable patch, this book has information for you as well; whatever that a gardener desires in a gardening book can be sought in this compilation. It is a lovely garden book to add to one’s library.

This book was a good read. It had short chapters discussing the overall topic, beautiful reference pictures, and then a list of recommended plant varieties for each topic at the end of the book.
