I love the K-9 Files (veterans, recovering warriors, rescuing war dogs). This time the setting is post-hurricane and recovery -- bits of a house, memories, and a missing war dog. Sinister characters add to the mix. It is a page turner. Bravo!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked Baron and Brittany. This book has the right amount of danger, heat and intrigue not to mention a big secret. Kingston (the War Dog) is a lot easier to handle than the other War Dogs in this series. It's after a hurricane in Florida where this story takes place. HEA.
At first Badger and Kat are hesitant to tap Baron to look for this particular war dog. It seems it was in his brother Brad's care when a hurricane hit, Brad suffered a heart attack and didn't make it while transporting several deserted animals from the area. His truck was in the river and the dogs were rescued but some were missing, the war dog among them.
Baron Segway agrees to look for the war dog, like Brad he has a weakness for animals, and it would bring closure to that part of his story.
Brittany and several of her grandmother's neighbors were shuffling through the wreckage of their homes looking for anything worth salvaging. However, Brittany is focused on finding her grandmother's dog pocket. The tiny dog was taken by the wind when they were evacuating and could be anywhere.
She's trying to find the source of a yelp, when she and the others hear a truck. They all slip into the shadows since they aren't supposed to be here yet, but they didn't want looters to take their things before they had a chance.
She thinks she recognizes the man as he gets out of the truck to cut up a tree blocking the road. He notices her as he's about to get back in his truck and ends up helping her find Pocket.
Brittany decides to help Baron in his search for the war dog and the two of them find themselves in all sorts of trouble once they find him.
I didn't expect the twists in this story, and as a couple Brittany and Baron are perfect.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I never tire of reading Dale Mayer's k9 series, all standalone. Baron Sagway was at a crossroads in his life, ex military special ops, Baron had lost part of his leg on a mission, Badger's wife Kat had designed Baron's prosthesis and it was Baron that came to her mind when they needed someone to trace, and rescue war dog, Kingston, who had disappeared when a hurricane hit the coast of Florida. Baron was mourning his elder brother Brad, his home was in the hurricane area so it was a chance to check up on his mum. Brittany Terrace was searching through what remained of her mother's house in an attempt to find any of her mothers treasured memories before the looters moved in. Discovering that she was a friend of his brother's, Baron and Brittany chatted and agreed to help each other, they were soon to discover that not only looters were hanging about the devastated area, who were the armed men, what were they searching for ? As this story unfolds, Baron helps Brittany face her problems and Brittany helps Baron with his search for the war dog and together , with the help of Badger, they search for clues to the armed men. This is a lovely gentle story with angst and an unexpected twist.
Hurricanes are scary and deadly. They leave destruction in their path and cause heartbreak to both humans and animals alike.
I feel bad for Baron losing his brother during a hurricane and his mother is afraid of losing Baron, her only remaining child. I applaud Baron’s determination to carry on in his brother’s footsteps finding and rescuing the lost dogs in the area, as well as finding the War Dog, Kingston. He gets a great start when he comes up on Brittany searching the area in and around her mother’s destroyed home for Pocket, her mother’s little dog who was lost during the storm.
Things get a little sticky when looters are in the area and are up to no good assaulting the local police who have come to check things out. I appreciate Brittany’s concern for Baron’s determination to continue to investigate the area and her not wanting him to go alone. It appears danger is around every corner in both destruction and armed looters.
I love the support Baron & Brittany give each other and how protective they are of each other. They both have huge hearts when it comes to animals in need and their loved ones.
Great story, very exciting and heartwarming at the same time.
Baron by Dale Mayer The K-9 Files Book Twenty-Five Baron Sagway is back in Florida after getting back on his feet after he was injured in the military. His brother had died recently during a hurricane, so he only had his mom. When Kat and Badger ask him to find a missing War Dog that his brother had rescued, he agrees. To finish a job that Brad had started and died before he could finish. Brittany Terrance is searching for anything of her grandmother’s after the hurricane. Grandma was staying with a friend, but there were decisions to be made about where she’d go after that. While looking for Grandma’s small dog, Pocket, she meets Baron. Another page-turning K-9 story. More is happening in Brittany’s grandma’s neighborhood, even though no one is supposed to be there, and Baron isn’t going to walk away without finding the War Dog and what the sketchy characters are up to. **Mild Sexual Content and Language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Baron, Kingston and Brittany find themselves reeling in the aftermath of a hurricane that has left death and destruction in it's wake. They begin with search, rescue and retrieval but quickly find themselves drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, there are secrets, old town tales and plenty of mystery but which one contains the truth that has brought danger to their doorstep? I really love Baron and Brittany and the easy teasing banter they quickly and comfortably fall into, they face and discuss difficult topics but do so with care, concern and sometimes laughter. As much as I like both Baron and Brittany, it is Kingston that really steals my heart, he is so protective, especially of Lucky and her puppies! There is an awesome twist at the end which completely blindsided me but with hindsight makes perfect sense.
I really enjoyed reading Baron . It's book twenty five of the K9 Files . Baron is asked if he will search for a lost War Dog Kingston . He was lost during the hurricane . Baron's brother Brad originally rescued Kingston during the hurricane but he died before he could get to safety . When Brad was found Kingston was missing . Baron feels as though there's more to Brad's death and figures while looking for the dog he can also search for answers of Brad's death . Brittany is searching through the remains of her grandmother's house and also searching for her small dog . When Baron helps Brittany they run into danger . Baron knows there's more going on than he realized . This story is sensational . It's full of suspense , intrigue and definitely romance . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Even though an injury ended Baron’s military career the urge to protect remains. When he is asked to search for Kingston, a missing K9, he does not hesitate in part because of the affinity he has for animals and in part because of the connection this dog has with his brother.
A hurricane has caused so much property damage but that is only part of the loss that Brittany is feeling as her grandmother’s dog is missing as well. When she meets Baron and realizes that she can trust him they decide to look for the missing dogs together but what they also uncover is something more sinister
Despite the circumstances that brought Baron and Brittany together they are meant to be as they take us on an exciting experience.
When Baron is asked to investigate the disappearance of a war dog after a hurricane Florida which has ties to his brother, Brad, who died in the storm. Brittany knew Baron’s brother, as her grandmother lived in the neighbourhood where Brad was known and now she is picking up the pieces of the house that was destroyed. The two meet accidentally and end up tied to each other when strange happenings occur around the neighbourhood. Brittany has some issues with her past and Baron has a hidden agenda of why he is in Florida, but the main issue is finding the missing war dog and whoever is out to get rid of them. A good read with some suspense, twists and turns and a surprise I’d didn’t see coming regarding Baron. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Quite a plot and some big twists in this latest War Dog rescue and let's just say romance was definitely in the air. The setting is the aftermath of a very recent hurricane, people are checking their distroyed homes and looking for lost pets, but not everyone searching is on the right side of the law. Baron grew up in this area and his mum is still living there. He agrees to help Kat and Badger by searching for the dog. Action and threats, some violence, some past mystery that returns to hamper the search. Loved the main characters, both were interesting, witty and had pasts that gave them depth and a history with the area. Marvellous read from beginning to end.
Many in the world can relate to where this story takes place, the after math of a hurricane. Trying to find belongings in damaged houses, lost pets, people. Baron's brother passed on trying to save animals during the hurricane. One of the animals is K9 Kingston, a war dog. While searching for Kingston he stumbles across Brittany at her grandmothers trying to salvage items. There is intrigue, mystery, suspense, a surprising twist and wonderful HEA. Thank you for the opportunity to read early. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Baron #K9Files #DaleMayer #ValleyPublishingLTD #Booksprout
Baron is searching for missing war dog, Kingston. A hurricane has hit, and Baron's brother Brad died either as a result of the stress, or foul play. Kingston was in Brad's care, and now Baron will need to track him down. Brittany is picking through the debris where her Grandmother's house is, and also looking for Grandmas dog, Pocket. Brittany finds Pocket, Baron finds Kingston, and and they both find trouble as well. A few bad guys are hanging around the area, and causing problems for Baron and Brittany. A sweet read, where Kingston isn't just protecting people.. no spoilers. Danger, drama, and the HEA make for good reading in this novel. Love this series, and this was another winner.
I always enjoy this K9 series, the hunt for the lost war dogs. The seekers finding love and happiness. A hurricane has flattened most of the area that Baron grew up in. He checks on his mother, they've lost his older brother to a heart attack. Brittany is a local and her gran's house has been destroyed. Baron and Brittany join forces to gather memories and seek the missing dog. Something mysterious is happening in the town and Baron might just be a dark horse in these events. Great story, interesting characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Another great read from this author. This sent tingles down my spine with the twist in the story. It was not a plot twist I was expecting. Baron has just lost his brother to his medical condition whilst helping animals escape the hurricane. Brittany is hoping her grandmother doesn't end up in a home after her house is wiped out. Both on the trail of Kingston, the war dog, they have to dodge the bullets and baddies to live to see the say. Loved the story and the characters.
Baron returns home to Florida after a hurricane. He faces his brother's death, concerns about his mother and soon is embroiled in searching for a lost war dog, Kingston. Along the way, he encounters a long time resident, Brittany, who is trying to recover mementos from her grandmother's hurricane demolished house. Turn out they make great partners and their adventure together begins. Although slow at times the story provides good characters, interesting mystery and involving action. With a heartfelt ending.
Baron comes home after the passing of his brother. Decides that he wants to finish his brother work which include the missing war dog he was looking for. Along the way he meets Brittany who finds her grandmother dog. Deciding to stay and get cliser with hus Mother, Baron decides to move into his brother's house but its not all it appears to be. Twists and turns keeps bringing to life this story.
There were plenty of surprises in this story as Baron not only searches for the missing War Dog, Kingston, but also is seeking closure as to his brother's death. While Brad had a known heart condition, Baron can't help but feel there might be something more to his death. Along the way, he meets Brittany who is searching for her grandmother's dog, Pocket. Before all is said and done, these two will encounter plenty of danger.
I just devoured Baron and Brittany’s story! I swear, Dale has me addicted to every word she writes! This was another completely engaging book from K9 files that I literally couldn't stop reading from the moment I picked it up. Just absolutely loving this series and I always make time to read the next book that comes out. So well done on another 5* start read Ms Mayer. Please keep them coming. Happy reading
Baron is asked if he would consider helping to find Kingston a K-9 war dog (now retired) who was lost in a hurricane in Florida. Baron agrees as he also lost his brother in the same hurricane while he was transporting Kingston and other animals to safety. In the process Baron finds Brittney, her grandmother's little dog "Pocket" and a whole lot more. A great uplifting story you don't want to miss!.

Baron has gone back home to help find the War Dog Kingston after a hurricane that destroyed homes and took his brother. He meets Brittney there trying to save things from her grandmother's house. There's more going on than just looking for Kingston. There's danger, mystery, a twist I didn't see coming and maybe a HEA for Baron and Brittney.
The way Baron and Brittany talk back and forth from the very beginning brought a smile to my face. I did not expect a few things that happen towards the end. Both of them, and the dogs, are trying to move on from their pasts and correct things for the future.

Baron and Brittany both have challenges in their past that they are ready to put in the past together. This was a great story. Lots of interesting twists and turns that I did not see coming. Plus there was a bonus second love story.

Another wonderful story in the K9 Files series, it's a well-written and entertaining and packed with plenty of drama and intrigue. Baron and Brittany meet after a storm ruined her granny's house and she looking for her grans small dog and Baron is looking for the missing war dog. They both have trust issues but have an instant connection. Wonderful story.
I really liked Brittany and Baron and enjoyed this book taking place just after a hurricane so there are a lot more up front emotions to work through and of course as we know the danger that lurks when there is a vulnerable situation. Another great read with a mix of suspense, danger and a blooming intertwined.

If you are a past reader of the K9 Files, or a first timer you are going to love this one! Baron is sent to his hometown after a hurricane hits to find Kingston a War dog that disappeared. Kingston had been seen with Barons brother . Unfortunately his brother died during the mess and things really get hairy! Throw in an old house with a mysterious old vet who had Kingston, a gang that appears after many years, looters, you get a great mystery !
This book was sad, interesting and intriguing. Knowing what it's like to lose someone without saying good bye made this story hit a little close to home. The intricate plot of looking for Kingston and the hurricane destruction was a great back story. I'd give this book a ten star if I could.
Baron is Book 25 of The K9 Files by Dale Mayer. There's danger, mystery, a twist. Baron and Brittany both have challenges that they are trying to move on from. These challenges are from their pasts.A truly great story and a wonderful read.
Hurricane blows houses down! Looters here!! Or are they!? A dog and her puppies are found! Great characters are found and love is in the ait for you to enjoy! Great. Series for you to enjoy!
Well written and great story line. Having grown up in Dade County, I know the Everglades. What was missing? Gators, crocodiles and snakes. However, there was drama, drama, drama. Wish we could fill in the mom and grandma story lines, but I still loved the story.
