So good. So so good. Soooooooo good. Each time I read a book in this series it gets better and better. This is suspenseful thriller with a dash of dark romance weaved in. Nothing about this series follows any sort of rules other than being AHMAHZING. The Whipping Girls focuses back on the present of Mallhaven. We get the POV of Clover & Hunter and they are as messed up as ever. Zee and Kane make appearances and play their epic parts in this story. So without spoiling I will say that Hunter once again has a plan. A plan that of course he tells no one about until he’s already moved them around like chess pieces. His intentions are good. His methods are crap, but oh do they make for a great story.
This is book three in the series. You must read the first two books to understand this story. So good.
So I raced through the three books in this series and out of all three number two was my favourite followed by the first one and this one bringing up the rear. I will explain my reasons for my slight struggle with this one further on in this review. So first this was well written and the story at the centre here was one that did grab your attention. So in that respect, it was a page-turner. I also liked the fact that you never knew quite where this story direction was heading though I do think the logic here behind some of Hunter's desitions was at times a bit off. My main issue with this one was I wasn't a fan of the central characters themselves. In fact, I think I would go as far as to say I downright disliked them at times. Clover's personality is just so damn aggravating, I felt that her attitude to others needed a major overhaul: I mean the girl was just so rude to everyone and there was just no need and talk about selfish and an all about me persona: the girl should have had it tattoed across her head in bold lettering. I mean there were times I did feel for her distress but then she would open her mouth and say something just plain mean and all sympathy for her would dissipate instantly and Hunter was just as bad: though he wasn't quite as outwardly volatile as Clover he had some serious wrong wiring going on and whatever his end game you don't treat your friends and the woman you profess to adore this way. I actually wanted to brain the psycho to knock some sense into his head: all the way through this his actions just defied logic and all sense. He was like an island in regard to his schemes and with his almost godlike (I need to save all whatever the cost) he was a difficult one to get a handle on. He was also back to playing games that only he knows the actual rules to. Another thing that bothered me as well is that Hunter seemed to have had a personality transplant It was like he was a whole different character in each book that or he was just a serious chameleon. I also struggled to feel the connection here, In book two Hunter and MJ's link shone through and I felt that what he had with Clover seemed just a pale imitation I just wasn't feeling it despite both their words to the contrary. Now Kane more than made up for this as he was my favourite character from book two and also this one and I adored how connected he was to Ziggy/Zee and how much he had her back. Their unconventional relationship was just so lovely, the way he just took care of her and loved her irregardless, he had zero expectations, just wanted her to be happy. I also had a big issue with a key event that happened quite early on in this and this just soured the whole experience for me slightly. I still was for the most part invested in the outcome and onboard here. The endgame here also seems not to be the finale, there is obviously another book in the works. This does manage to wrap things up mostly and answers lingering questions but there still is more to come from the way this was left open-ended. I am not sure yet if I am invested enough to want to continue, I haven't decided yet. On an end note, I absolutely adored that glimpse of Kane and Zee's life we are given at the finish. That was my favourite scene of this whole book, I was like finally, the poor girl catches a break. So this had dark themes and frequent drug use throughout which if that is not your thing or bother's you at all then this one is definitely not for you. The darkness of this narrative is what initially drew me here and in that respect, this had more than enough to satisfy me. This had both pluses and minuses from my corner and as I said earlier it was a page-turner and well written on that I can not fault this. My rating here mainly reflects my issues themselves with Clover and Hunter and some of the story direction. I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Whipping Girls (Blood for Blood #3).
Blood for Blood is proving to be one thrilling ride!
As always, Logan has delivered a brutally dark and disturbing read, one that won't let you go, right up to the gripping conclusion. Except, it's not the end, because with each book we're just drawn deeper and deeper into the sickness of Mallhaven, wondering what could possibly happen next. It's impossible to look away... onwards we go!
(And can we take a moment to appreciate the stunning covers in the Blood for Blood series, because I love each and every one!)
I really enjoyed this book, so much so, I finished it in one day. There are some parts that may be triggers for some, so just a warning to check first.
After the last book we know that Hunter has something big planned. Hunter has always been a planner and we also know that things don't always go according to planned - even for someone as rich as him. He's also a bit crazy, as we also learned in the first book, so I wasn't exactly quite sure how sane he'd be in this book. I'll admit that once I started getting into the book though, his plan seemed pretty obvious to me, long before it was revealed. And it was a doozy. But I'll admit that I didn't dislike Hunter as much in this one as I did Book 1. He at least had a good reason for what his plan detailed and had the greater good of the community at heart, but he went about it in the worse way.
Now Clover was another story. She wasn't my favorite character in this one. She was too hot or cold for me to really like her. The more I think about what she did though towards the end, I guess I can't hate her too much since she didn't ask for any of that. But I still am not her biggest fan. Both her and Hunter are pretty crazy though, so I guess they're perfect for each other.
I will say that I absolutely loved Kane and Zee's part of this book. I've had a soft spot for Kane since the Dark Twisted Love/Their Lady of Shadows series and was always intrigued by his story. It's so refreshing to see how much he's grown and I appreciate the man he's become. So I won't spoil anything but I'll just say thank you to Ms. Fox. I only hope the next book doesn't break my heart when it comes to Kane & Zee lol.
Oh and if you've read the Dark Twisted Love/Their Lady of Shadows series, then you'll LOVE that our favorite guy Lars makes an appearance in this one. I was so happy when he showed up and hope he'll be a part of the next book as well.
If I had any complaint, it would be that the ending felt rushed. I'm left with unanswered questions and feel as though a lot of time was skipped that I'd have liked more details on. I'd like to have seen how they all coped with everything that happened and what got them to the point they are at the end of this book. I can figure out the Kane/Zee part, but I'd have liked more details on Clover and Hunter after the whole ordeal. For example, some questions left unanswered:
It's no secret that I'm a big Logan Fox fan and while this series hasn't been my favorite of her series, it's still one that keeps me on the edge and wanting more. I thought this series would end with this book, but apparently there will be a Book 4! This book did end in a HFN though, so that was nice.
This is another one of my favourite books in this series!
I'm pretty sure Hunter is a psychopath - or some type of sociopath. I do love him as a character though; I really wish he wouldn't be such a mystery because I really want to know what he's trying to do. It doesn't make me frustrated though - it makes me more addicted to the book.
Sometimes Clover would get on my nerves as she doesn't resort to logical reasoning, but I also think acting irrationally is the main trait in Clover's personality; I can't really complain because it helps keep the book interesting.
I'm actually really excited to read the last book in the series, but I'm not sure when I'll get the chance as I signed up for way too many challenges and I have way too much schoolwork to catch up on.

The Devil made him do it. Every year, hundreds of children disappear in Mallhaven. Hunter Hill is determined to find out why. Disturbingly, no one seems to care about the missing children - not even the parents, who often leave town shortly after. But if Hunter's to take a seat on the Council of Nine, then he wants to do so in a town free of corruption. Digging deep into Mallhaven's festering underbelly will be the only way to find the root of this evil. And there's no greater cesspit than the Messianic Church of Solomon. Hunter knows the Father is involved and he will prove it; all he needs is a little help from his friends. They won't help willingly, but he's ready to persuade them. Even if it means risking a decade-old friendship... and the love of his life.
This is an absolutely brilliant addition to the series. This is a suspenseful thriller with a dash of dark romance weaved in. These books just get better and better with each one. Absolute amazing story line and plot. Wonderfully created characters. Characters that you love to hate and want to read what happens next to them. I am on tender hooks waiting for the next. I must read and find out the final conclusion. Highly recommend reading.

Just a quick note: This is book three in the Blood for Blood series and you need to read book one, The Hunter's Game and book two, The Binding Ties before reading this book. This series is dark and intense, so sensitive readers be aware there is definitely disturbing subject matter in these books. If you're like me and love reading all things dark and intense, then this series is for you, so dive on in.
After everything that Hunter has put Clover through so far, he is still not done yet. Nobody seems to notice or care that hundreds of children disappear in Mallhaven, except for Hunter and he's determined to find out what is happening to them. He believes that the Messianic Church of Solomon and "Father" are involved and he plans on using Clover and Kane to find answers and hopefully put a stop to the disappearances. Hunter is a man with little to no conscience when it comes to something he believes in and he is relentless when he wants something. He uses Clover and Kane as pawns in his pursuit of the truth and he couldn't care less about their feelings on the matter. This is a dark, intense read and a great addition to this series. I find that every time I start one of Logan Fox's books I can't put it down until the very end. Then I find myself craving the next book in the series like the air I breathe. I need it, I want it and I can't live without it! Great series and I highly recommend it!
ONE NERVE RACKING EXPERIENCE!!! OMG! Don't walk RUN! Logan laid this baby out skillfully and executed each scenario directing each as they flow along fluidly without missing a beat. A churning maelstrom of surprising occurrences and a slew of mishaps that keep you flipping page after page. Overflowing the trials and tribulations without relief, trying to figure out heads from tails and coming up empty. This is one nailbiting storyline and gripping plot that you become so immersed and determined to see it through. This is one non-stop, action packed, heart pounding, nerve racking, nailbiting thrill ride that disburse your spinning emotions into play smoothly. The characters are consistent and realistic with depth and qualities written with 100% on point true to life form. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it makes for one incredible backdrop. Amazing job Logan, thanks for sharing.
Holy smokes on a cracker! This story just keeps getting more gritty and gripping. It pull you in and won’t let go. There is darkness and evil in the world and boy do you feel it in this story. You end up with a love/hate relationship with Hunter. Clover is a girl you want to smack but love all at the same time. Kane is this beautiful but sad loving man. Zee is the one you want to love and never let anything bad happen to her. All of them together create one beautiful group of characters that are so creatively developed that you fed all of their personalities as if they were right here. This story is deep, dark, and full of mystery. It will have pulled in one direction and bam you go into another. This is an absolute must read!
I had not read any prior books in this series. I apparently have Book 1 in my ereader, but didn't notice until after I'd finished reading Book 3. It's likely that my impressions are coloured by this gaffe. Oops.
The story moves along at breakneck speed, with jumps in time being clearly outlined. I think there are times when the character development would have been better off had there been some slower moments, but overall, the element of pacing was extremely well done and it made the book very readable.
I found the character development to be on the weaker side. All the characters were rather one-note, with none of them really growing through the course of the novel. Furthermore, there really weren't any characters who stood out as being genuine. I wasn't sure who I should be rooting for. Finally, I didn't learn enough of their backstories to get a real sense for them.
There were also some editing problems including: misused words (concave/convex, to/too, nauseous/nauseated), a section that literally stops mid-sentence, and a paragraph where part of the sentence is repeated verbatim.
For me, the lack of context, gratuitous adult content and violence, and weak characters just didn't pull me into the story. I may feel differently once I've read the first book in the series, which I do intend to do.
WOW Amazing awesome mind blowing. This is the book ive been waiting for. The answers to all my questions are in this book but I don't want to give anything away. so writing this review is hard because all I really want to do is shout about everything. And I mean everything even now my mind is getting excited thinking about all the good that comes of this book and I do mean hatred I feel for a person, who is pure evil. Honestly this is an amazing read, its very dark in places and I found myself just wanting to shout at someone to change his/her mind. Ok I'm going to stop before I say any more. I cant wait for the next and final book in the series. Bring it on Logan Fox, because you rock

I have to admit that I did not like Clover in this book and I did like Hunter which is a complete reversal for me. By the end of the book Clover was likable again and I still liked Hunter. This was a riveting book that I could not put down once I had started it and in many ways was easier to read than the previous one and much was resolved. Kane and Zee seem to have found a measure of contentment as do Hunter and Clover albeit for different reasons, but the story is not over yet!
I received a copy of this book and I'm glad I did. Usually I don't like to read books out of order( read a later book then an earlier one) but despite this something told me this would be a good book and boy was it. The plot was interesting this defenitly isn't your normal love story. The characters have real problems and react to them realistically. I thoroughly enjoyed this book . My only thing is certain parts can be disturbing but this actually works with the book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC This story just takes me deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole, willingly! When I think I've finally figured out the characters and where they survive in my heart Logan Fox twists me up and I go in another direction. This story pulls me in time after time and leaves me howling for more. I'm totally invested in Hunter, Clover, Kane and Zee and the outcome of their lives. The cameo from Lars...outstanding!
Wow! Just Wow!! The Whipping Girls by Logan Fox is the best in this series. This is book 3 and it just blew me away. Love the story telling, love the characters, love how it kept me on the edge of my seat. Love how it ended but also set you up for the next book which I can’t wait for! This series is so sick and depraved and utterly realistic because you just know there is evil out there like this and you hope it never touches your world. Highly recommended!

OMG!!! I would give this book 10 stars if available...this book is fantastic...it leaves you gasping, scratching your head and wondering where we are going next...because yes, you are right there with the characters! This is book 3 of a series, so yes, you must read the other books first, but so, so worth the time to do. This series isn't over yet...staying close to my kindle (new one, old one melted with this story) for the next installment. Definitely, definitely recommend this book, this series and this author!!
Just as dark, if not more so, than the first two books in the series. Logan creates something amazing here.
For the first time since we are introduced to him in The Hunter's Game, we begin to understand Hunter's motivations. His driving force that pushes him to do unspeakable things. Do we condone these things? Probably not but we understand them though. Clover begins to understand them as well.
It was also nice to see Zee and Kane again. But there is still an evil lurking in the dark. I cannot wait to see it's face or see how far Kane and Hunter go to eradicate it.
* I received this novel for free from the author. I am providing a review voluntarily *
As soon as i saw Logan Fox had the ARC of The Whipping Girls on offer,i knew i hád to have it. I knew i needed to hear more about Clover and Hunter and what evil was still lurking in Mallhaven. Thankfully,Logan has a generous heart and gave in to my pleading. Leading me down the rabbithole, straight into the darkness......
Because evil still thrives in Mallhaven,Hunter has devised a plan to deal with it permanently. He needs help for that, and Clover is going to provide it. Even if she doesn’t know it. Kane is the other important part. And he doesn’t know it,either. When they find out what Hunter intentions are, what will they do? Will he lose both? Lover ánd friend? But when things go horribly wrong and it seems Clover is lost, will Kane help him make it right? Can Hunter defeat evil?
This story comes with a warning. Heed that warning. It’s dark,it has elements that hurt, badly. But if that’s what you like, then this is a story for you. I loved it,that’s for sure!
This series just keeps getting better with each new book. Wow!!! Tons of suspense & a twist of darkness makes me just want to lose myself within it's pages. Loved it. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
The way this story has developed from Hunters Game has had me on a knife edge of adrenalin. The story could easily stop at The Whipping Girls...I would be happy at that...but I know there is more to come... and I am half excited half fearful about where Logan Fox will take us next. This book does have very steamy moments in it.... but it's the omnipresence of the sinister "Church" which is the real thrill.... it is a must read!
This is the third book in the series, and things seem to finally get resolved. Children have been disappearing from Mallhaven for years and are never found. The parents often move away within a short time following their child’s disappearance. Hunter has one more mission before he can free Mallhaven of the evil inhabitants surrounding the small town. He has to make a sacrifice to Priest, the Satanic church leader, to satisfy a debt he owes. Who will be the sacrificial lamb? He makes a decision that will affect not only Clover and himself, but Kane and Ziggy as well. Relationships will be challenged, love turned to hate, and friendships torn apart, all because of the decision Hunter makes. In the end, however, all things work out for the best.

wow this one was a real page Turner for sure from start to finish I could not put it down. That beginning really pulls the reader in and I had a hard time pulling away from these story because I had to know what happened next. This one was gripping, thrilling and will sure to give you goosebumps. I didn't realize this was the third book in the series so it took me a while to leave these review because I have to go read the first two real quick and wow what a series this is! really enjoyed it so far!
Holy...WOW! Logan Fox has given us a look into the festering underbelly of Mallhaven, and is it ever dark! And my man Lars, with the cameo! Received this book as an ARC and am leaving an honest review.
Suspense, darkness and romance. It’s not the usual combination, but it works. Only one book left in this serie. I’ll try to read that one a little bit slower, so it will last longer, compared to this one.
This is the third book in the Blood For Blood series. At the end of the first book, Clover had wondered onto the Church's property and was taken by the Father. Hunter negotiated her release, after which she demanded an explanation. The second book involved Clover meeting Hunter's old friends Kane and Ziggie (Zee) and learning about their dark and tragic shared past with Hunter and how it relates to the Church.
This book opens up with the hint of a secret that Hunter is keeping from Clover. It is refreshing to return to Hunter and Clover's playful banter and constant bickering, which dominated the first book; the second book had a darker, more serious mood. Their chemistry is still strong, but Hunter is concerned something will tear them apart. The first quarter of the book leads to him following through on some unknown self-destructive plan. It is honestly hard to read it play out. I forced myself to keep reading only because I already had the fourth book in the series and hoped all would make sense in the end.
The playful banter disappears completely after the first quarter of the book, and Hunter's plan is never explained. The rest of the book deals with the aftermath of whatever grand plan Hunter had; only some of the basics can be gleaned. He eventually tells Clover some part of it (Hunter likely would not have told all, but we don't know) and she reluctantly agrees to go along. Kane and Ziggie are involved. It all goes badly and it is hard to follow much of reasoning. There many holes in this story, although it had great potential if only more time and attention were given. It feels like things are pieced together for shock value, but without being thought through entirely. The characters behave erratically, out of character.
This book goes from being about the couple to about solving a problem (as a group) and never returns effectively to the couple. It feels infinished. We never learn the plan, yet we know it goes off course. We don't understand what Clover agreed to and what choices she made.
Again, there is a lot of drug use in this book. It feels like Hunter does even more drugs here than in book one - which doesn't make sense since he was getting Clover off them in that book. It feels more like book two, which was his hippie past. Clover's decison to related to heroin late in the book comes out of nowhere and is never discussed again, in spite of the fact that it is considerd Hunter's failure.
It is easy to guess what might motivate and lead to the end result with the baby, but given all the information readers never have, it is impossible to understand all that leads to that outcome. Clover and Hunter don't have a meaningful conversation about it. They don't have a meaningful conversation after the first quarter of the book. Their brief conversation simply comes across as shallow and immature, when it might have been more - or not! We don't know. There was an opportunity for the reader to know the characters better, but by the end it feels like both Hunter and Clover are more closed off to one another as well as the reader.
There a number of things that did not quite add up which might bother a detail-oriented reader:
1. There is discussion of Hunter being offered a seat on the Council, but earlier in the series he had already been on it.
2. There is a recurring theme about Hunter manipulating to get what he wants without caring about who he involves or hurts. While that might have been true in book one, the old Hunter from book two (a flashback) was much more a laid back hippie, with Kane as the force behind everything. For Kane to agree about Hunter being a manipulator doesn't ring true, particularly since Kane has been almost entirely absent for years.
3. Kane is consistently against turning the baby over to the Church, yet he calls the Church instead of an ambulance. Even if it saves a few minutes, it seems unlikely he would choose that fate for the child at any cost, especially since Hunter is already at work.
4. Kane kept the details of the evening at the Church (from book two) to himself, never discussing it with Hunter. It seems too unlikely given Kane and Ziggie lived with Hunter for so long after the fact, and both Kane and Hunter were present when Ziggie later delivered at the Church. That Ziggie was raped was necessarily shared with Hunter.
5. In this story, Hunter is constantly referencing MJ. This completely diminishes his relationship with Clover. This is disappointing and doesn't ring true because MJ's memory was not a factor in his and Clover's story in book one. He knew MJ very briefly - a few days as I recall. Kane knew her better, though they were just friends. Hunter studied Clover for six months and has been with her for months by this time. No comparison, even allowing how traumatic losing MJ was.
6. Kane lashes out at Hunter for saying MJ's name. It would make more sense the other way around, even though Kane knew MJ better. Surely Kane recognized that he walked away from the Church with Ziggie, while Hunter left with ashes.
7. Like in the second book, it is difficult to understand the Father's motivations. Why he gives Clover special attention is unclear. There was a reason for Ziggie in book two, whereas other girls had been sacrificed. Given Clover's background, it would make sense that Clover was a sacrifice. Red hair or not, she didn't have the pure background that seemed to be necessary for the Father's attention. He had been celibate leading up to Ziggie's long-awaited arrival.
8. About the baby.... Three weeks early is on the early side, yes, but within normal. Not terribly concerning and not too tiny. Also, a hard squeeze will not produce the first drop of breast milk. And the baby had been born how many days before this happened? Finally, those were some really weird manipulations to force breast feeding! Made no sense. The Father had no interest in using Ziggie this way, so again, what is the motivation? Why the special treatment compared to how the others had all been treated?
9. There is an explosion that takes out three support beams, but miraculously doesn't horribly harm the good guys nearby. Or the really bad guy. Hard to believe.
10. Lars is completely forgotten about in the aftermath. How many were saved? That was a big motivation, so why is it not important enough to explain how it ended?
11. Ages and dates in this series are very hard to piece together because there are often contradictory facts or very poorly explained. Just to organize it and alleviate confusion, here Ziggie is turning twenty-five. Hunter is seven or eight years older than Clover - which puts him at thirty or thirty-one in the first book, not twenty-eight. Here we meet Hunter's sister Alexa, who is four years younger than him.
12. A full twelve weeks after conception (seven weeks plus another five), Hunter says she is eight weeks pregnant - more bad math and a little maddening for any detail-oriented reader. It didn't appear to be purposely misstated because Kane asked about paternity and Hunter's POV doesn't mention deception.
This series has continued to build and challenge, I have gone through periods of despising Hunter right through to loving him. As per her MO Logan Fox takes us on a merry dance through this third book of the Blood for Blood series, I have experienced a full range of all emotions on my way through this series. After visiting the past with Kane and Zee in Book 2 we are now back in present day Mallhaven and Hunter has concocted a plan, which will not initially be evident to either the reader, or the other characters in the book. Clover is her normal acerbic self, however it is obvious she struggles with her feelings for Hunter. This series is sooo good and I read this book in one hit today, that is how hard it was to put down. I also love the cross series that comes with this book with the inclusion of Lars , whom you will know if you have read 'Their Lady of the Shadows' series, who just happens to be an associate of Kane - go figure! Logan writes some pretty dark stuff, which goes from erotic to downright scary at times and as with most of her stories, this is not for the feint hearted . There may be triggers for some people so if you are easily offended this may not be the series for you, if however you can deal with that these books are amazingly gripping and exciting. This is not a stand alone and you will need to read books 1 & 2 first to follow the plot successfully. I continue to be a fan of this awesome author.

Bravo! I can't tell you how relieved I was with this book. First of all, what probably pisses others off, makes me happy. Case in point: Clover. I personally have a lot of similarities with her like having my own past issues (but mine stayed in the past, thankfully), and not wanting kids. I liked that the author allowed her to keep that part of herself, even though it was clear she cared for and had some level of attachment to Mary. She did what she thought was best for everyone involved after being put in a situation that she had no choice in. I'm sure a lot of people read through the one scene when Clover's in the woods and Hunter and Kane find her with great disgust. I could almost imagine the judgments of women everywhere as I read through that part, but I can't judge her for that, because I get it. Addiction is a beast that contorts your mind and whispers insidious little lies in your ear to make excuses for everything you do. I can understand Clover on that level; understand that her pain was putting her at a point where she thought she was doing the right thing. Hey, I never said she was sane, just that I can understand her. I do think it made more sense though, that she did what she did at the end with Mary by giving her to Kane. The woman was smart enough to know her and her man are a few crayons short of a full box and that the responsibility of a child would be a bad idea in many ways. I get so enraged when I read these romance novels where the guy gets the girl pregnant by giving her fake pills or just being irresponsible and the woman doesn't want kids but slowly over the course of the pregnancy she changes her mind. I was SO GLAD they didn't do that with Clover, because it would have felt entirely disingenuous with how ridiculously stubborn she is. It also gets old reading about that, especially when I'm a person that hasn't made a decision on that topic so I get tired of every romance throwing that in our faces like someone can't be happy unless they have a kid or something, like it's entirely necessary in order to have a happy ending. I almost wanted to smile when she talked about being too selfish for a kid; I know I've said that one a few times. That said, I really want to see what kind of people Clover and Hunter become as this continues to unfold and I could actually envision Clover changing her mind later on in the series if she got to a more stable point in her life and felt more in control of her life and had more security. That would seem so much more believable and make the most sense. Or maybe not at all, either is cool with me. But I just wanted to applaud Fox on not jumping right into that trope and being faithful to the characters rather than trying to appeal to the audience's soft spot.
But Hunter, Hunter Hunter.... what the heck am I to do with this man? I was beyond raging at Hunter for doing what he did at the beginning. He made the wrong choices at every single turn, just as Kane and he did before. Oh, and why does this guy insist he's curing Clover from addiction but then continue to drug her?! What the heck kind of mental gymnastics does this character have to do to justify all the crazy shit he does?! It drives me nuts. But not in the same way as Kane's story with Zee did; that was a different kind of anger. This anger is more like: "eh, he's gonna get punched in the balls and have to deal with it" while with Kane, it was more like incompetent rage for me while it was just a simmering irritation and the feeling of "what else can he POSSIBLY do?!". Like a resigned kind of irritation, you know? Not just that, but if his foolproof survival training rehab nonsense is so foolproof, why did both he and Clover relapse in this book?! Well, I mean, they basically resolved their big traumas and then landed themselves in another, so maybe they'll go out and live off the land in the woods together for a while and deal with that. Either way hadn't yet redeemed himself fully in my eyes, but it was interesting to see the shift from this guy being a big alpha predator to being a distressed, unstable wreck of a man doing drugs constantly. I want to see him and Clover both build each other back up piece by piece and become the people they were meant to be!
So, in conclusion, I loved this book much more than the second. I LOVED it, truly.

This book has an author’s note, as follows: This work of fiction is intended for mature audiences only. All sexually active characters portrayed in this e-book are eighteen years of age or older. Please do not buy/read this e-book if strong sexual situations, multiple partners, violence, drugs, domestic discipline, and explicit language offend you.
To the above I would also add trigger warnings for non-consensual sexual and drug-related activity, domestic violence, child abuse, torture and suicidal thoughts/actions.
So you have been warned – this is strong stuff!
Clover and Hunter return in the third book of the Blood for Blood series, and it begins pretty much where The Hunter’s Game ended, so I would definitely recommend reading that book first.
The Whipping Girls dives straight into the violence and sex, with first a prologue featuring a mystery girl fleeing through the woods, then a glimpse into Clover and Hunter’s tempestuous domestic ‘bliss’. As an ex-heroin addict and the doctor who treated her addiction, their relationship has always been on dangerous ground, especially as Dr Hill’s treatment methods are… somewhat out of the ordinary!
Clearly the two main characters in this erotic romance thriller crave and enjoy each other, even love each other, but this is by no means a healthy relationship for either of them and that is made very clear from the start. But then, it is also made clear that they are both such broken and damaged individuals that they wouldn’t even recognise ‘healthy’ if they stumbled across it in their drug-hazed wanderings.
The main plot features Hunter’s twisted plan to remove the source of corruption from ‘his’ town, which – being one of Hunter’s plans – naturally involves swathes of drugs, coercion, manipulation, and completely betraying everyone he knows, destroying those he loves most in the process. For a supposedly clever man, it is unbearable how very stupid he can be.
Clover continues to do what she does best: rage, defy authority and cling to life on the very edge. Her relationship with Hunter has brought her a small measure of peace, but this is short-lived as his plans begin to ferment and she is dragged unwillingly right into the heart of the storm. This character breaks my heart because she is so tough and strong and wild and defiant, and yet so fragile that she could fly into pieces at any moment. Clover is the heart of this series, and without her story running through the centre of it, it would mainly be a tale of psychopaths manipulating each other and torturing innocents for pleasure.
This book, like those before it, is hot and dark, bloody and primal. The themes and imagery are strong and visceral, and the sex is raw and aggressive. Logan Fox takes the reader down into the world of broken people as they buck against each other, the system and the evils that dragged them low. Whether they make it back out of the woods and into the sunlight remains to be seen, as there are two more books in the series!
I’m wearing one of Hunter’s shirts in open defiance to the previously purchased clothes hanging in my side of the closet. If he notices – which I know he does – he decides not to comment. I guess he’s decided to pick his battles. That’s another thing I’ve insisted on of late; we share everything. Our coffee comes from the same pot, we eat from the same skillet or tray or whatever the fuck he uses to make food. And, sometimes, just to change things up, I’ll switch plates. This fucker ain’t drugging me again, that’s for sure.
DARK and Absolutely BRILLIANT! Shock, delight, cringing, ticked off, excitement and all the rest of the feels make this one helll of an exciting read that explodes through the pages. Dark and wicked excitement grips the heck out of you. Not your warm fuzzy read a head reeling mind blowing what the frick screaming out loud with bouts of mouth gapping wide open rendered utterly speechless. Yep, it's definitely a Logan Fox read. From one read to the next in this series Logan always manages to one up every story keeping you on your toes infusing bursts of irritation excitement shock and thrills and this is no different and no way to prepare for the bombs she delivers from one page to the next. I can't wait to read more of her wicked brilliant work that she has stored in that fabulous mind of hers. Bring it on, I definitely want more.
You have to have read the first two books but more so book 1 otherwise this book wont make sense. Like the other books in this series its dark with strong violent characters, lts of sexual scenarios but at the heart is still love. Even in the environment that its started in. Book 3 continues on with more from Hunter & Clover from book 1. Hunter is trying to get rid of what he sees as the corruption of the town but at the cost of those he loves and cares for. Clover on the other hand is still her abrasive self but it seems to me thats her coping mechanism especially when interacting with Hunter. Where shes still struggling to deal with her feelings for. Some of the content of this book and series might upset some folks. Some shock the hell out of me but at the heart of it are some brilliant characters and a strong story. A great read
