Pros. Somewhere in this mess, is a good story centering around Ethan and Isabella. They are trying to regain the balance of the universe that a one Mr. Steins has seen to throw into utter chaos
Cons Almost too many to list I’m at a loss for words, and that isn’t a good thing. If this book went to an editor or proofreaders, they all need to be fired and I mean now! I came across One hundred and eighty-eight issues! You read that right and to be honest, I didn’t mark them all. This is the first book I’ve read where there is zero character development! Why? Because the author wouldn’t get out of the way of them. It reminded me of when I was raising my children and had to hold their hand and tell them everything they needed to do. Here’s an example. “She answers, Mr. Steins and Mr. Grant.” To question, “Why?’ looking mysteriously at him now. Here’s another one, Ethan states, “He looks great for his age!’ Asking,” So, has he been teaching a new one to take his place?’ The only time the author lets the characters carry themselves is when they get into a long description of a scene or monologue. Those were fluid and smooth. Readers do not need to be told every little nuance of characters. This story is full of them. It’s horrible. And the name tags are over the top, especially when only two people are talking. Stop it! And what is with all the exclamation points? Are these characters really yelling all the time? I think not. Wrong words. Sometimes the author uses set, instead of sit. Or Hay for Hey and all most for almost. Any good editor would have caught that. And it only gets worse. When you finally reach the end of the story, I know I skimmed over half of it because it was all irrelevant, especially chapter 26, it doesn’t end with a bag only a whimper as it disappears into an abyss.
Pure and simple, this book needs a major rewrite. My services are available. One Star
So, I have been watching all the videos on the book MYSTERIES by J.A. Smith, and it got me curious about it. So, I got it. I started reading it and I couldn’t put it down. It took me to worlds beyond this Universe and described interesting things that could happen to the Universe. Well, all I can say is that it kept me wondering the whole way through. Like what will become of Mr. Steins. Will the Gifts fix the world or what will be next? LOVE IT! Thank You J.A. Smith for such a good read!
