Roy Shaw Unleashed

Rate this book
When Kate Kray wrote Pretty Boy, she interviewed scores of people. Almost without exception, as she was leaving, they would say to her, "I'll tell you something about Roy—but don't tell him I told you..." These stories were too shocking and close to the bone to include without Roy's permission, and now that permission has been granted. Roy Shaw Unleashed is a collection of those stories, as told by Roy himself and those close to him. It includes true stories of murder and violence, and the final truth about his famous fights with Lenny "The Guv'nor" McLean.

I read this after watching a few documentaries on hi bare-knuckle boxing.

To be fair the book itself does actually mention the tours and seriousness of Prisons.
He mentions battering a Cell door open with a wooden Chair.

He also mentions the fights he was part of With Lenny Mclean. He swears he was drugged and the medicine he was taking at the time slowed down his reactions.

He goes into depth talking about the difficult financial pressures on children growing up in London in the 50s or whatever era it was. Basically highlighting the childhood catalog of pretty larceny and skullduggery.

Interesting character indeed.

Basically collection of many different people saying that Roy Shaw was a hard man. Not well written, cheap kiosk literature which has tendency to entertain a bit.

This was nowhere near as good as Pretty Boy. I found this far less exciting as reading his full autobiography. There were parts of this book I really enjoyed but I need to know what happened about Dorothy.
Bit of an anti-climax compared to the previous book although I found the piece about Charlie Bronson quite gripping. It has made me purchase his book to read next.
