Lady Witch #4

Witch's Ruin

Rate this book
The king’s game is more dangerous than we thought, and we’re both pieces on his board.

I never expected our latest mission to unravel. Rixon and I were summoned to the capital city of Corinna. I was eager to outwit the king while Rixon was determined to avoid the birthright he’s been running from. But with demons stalking the city’s streets, we realized we’ve stepped into something far darker than either of us could have imagined.

Are the witches responsible? Is the king framing the Citadel? Or is there something more sinister happening?

My overconfidence might cost us everything when Rixon is forced strike a bargain with someone he hates. We’re both thrust into a life neither of us chose. In the end, none of it will matter. With everything on the line, the only way to freedom is down a path that could tear us apart.

Witch’s Ruin is the fourth installment in the Lady Witch series. Passion, betrayal, and deadly magic collide in a world where trust is scarce, and love is the most dangerous gamble of all.

Warning: This series contains explicit sexual content suitable for audiences 18+, adult language, and some demon-slaying violence.

2.5-3 ⭐️.

I thought this was the end of the series, but I guess not because this book also ended on a cliffhanger.

The story remains is it’s been going, and quite honestly I feel awful saying it, but it’s beginning to drag. The storyline is somewhat repetitive and while it’s well-written, I do not think I will pick up the following book when it comes out.

Witch’s Ruin by Melissa Mitchell is the fourth book of the Lady Witch series, and is a new adult romantic fantasy that focuses on characters with a unique underlying plot. Every witch is bonded to a wielder and, as the first book in the second trilogy, see our characters starting off on a new adventure. Do check trigger warnings before reading, and this is an adults only book.

The Lovely: I still loved the characters and their relationship. I was glad to see them truly get angry with each other and that there were consequences to that disagreement. This book really sees them each struggle with their own issues and not turn to each other or help. I think this makes the characters feel more realistic.

Also Lovely: The plot of this book was definitely different than the prior books. Now Mina and Rixon are battling against people, politics and power more so than just monsters. I liked that this pushed the characters into new situations that further strained their relationship.

The Dreadful: The tension of this book, compared to the prior three, was lower and not as steady. While I would describe the first three books as a gentle ebb and flow, this was more of a start and stop. I think this was because so much of the time was spent inside the castle or the city (during the day) where the threat of monsters was low. So, not nearly as much time was spent in scenes where tension and risk was high.

Rating: 4/Stars 4/5 flames

Recommendation: This book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so I’m anxious for book five and what happens to Mina and Rixon in book five. I can’t say much without spoiling, but a LOT of major things happen in the final chapters that I feel like will change the course of the characters relationships. If you like high fantasy with witches and monsters, and a lot of spice with a fun relationship, I think you would like this book.

What an exciting new beginning to the next trilogy of the Lady Witch series! The anticipation for the next installment was extremely high. The characters and plot are absolutely amazing. They are so unique and different compared to the majority of the romance fantasy books in the world today.

I love that the author is creating a whole new challenge for Mina and Rixon. There are higher stakes and Mina goes through some new character development.

The author has a talent for writing plot twists and cliff hangers. The ending comes out of nowhere and of course makes you want the next book immediately!

Overall, I love this series and couldn't recommend it enough!

Much like our beloved wielder’s manhood, the plot is ever-thickening. This poor man is plagued by boners for his lady witch’s muff. Thank goodness she is basically a vampire now and can survive getting dicked down 24/7.

4🌶️

I’ve been devouring this series over the past few days. I love the fast-paced, shorter books that delve right into things without too much fluff.

This 4th installment (author also referencing it as the 2nd trilogy) diverted to a new story of sort. We’re still dealing with witches and demons but now throwing in the political intrigue of Rixon and his royal background.

Summoned to the capital, it doesn’t take long for Rixon’s father, the king, to start his games to grasp his son back into his world. Rixon is determined to keep Mina at his side, complete their mission, and get as far away as possible from it all. But things are much darker than they seem.

I’m bummed I have to wait until September for the next book ☹️ seems like a long time in between books for shorter type novellas.

The spice is still definitely there. I love Rixon. Absolutely adore him. He so embraces the changes happening to Mina, the dark changes and somehow it turns him on even more for her. That man lives and breaths for his Lady Witch.

I saw the last bit of the ending coming and it broke my heart. I’m curious to see what the next 2 books have in store for these characters. ❤️

This was 3. 1/2⭐️ for me. A lot of same same. Could be 2 books with trimming of repetitive tropes. Didn’t like 🌶️ direction. Ok for others just not my thing. So I skimmed through.
I really liked the premise of the story. I like Mina’s bad ass character and her take no prisoners attitude and how she has blossomed with Rixon.
I hope that the demon brings the storyline back and just stays on that line.

Witch’s Ruin by Melissa Mitchell is the most heartbreaking book of the series thus far. Just like the movie precious three books in the lady witch series this one was written just h as beautifully. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions from the very beginning to the last sentence.

great start to this next trilogy

The way this ended — I need to know what happens next! The political intrigue alongside the monster fighting we know has upped the drama, interesting read!

decent story. needed tons of editing

SO. MANY. EDITING. ERRORS. misspelled words. Wrong words. Etc. it’s so easy for that to take you out of the aura of the book. Do better for book 5

Hey, there’s more plot and less sex though definite they are deep into the whole BDSM thing. Rixon is still an idiot. Mina is as well, like you know the king has it out for you so yeah… they are still two disasters. Of course the book ends sort of on a cliffhanger and yeah… I’m annoyed
