This is a supernatural story I have to say certainly like no other I have ever heard of this and the fact that I am now heading towards old age is the reason that prompted me into writing my story so that it is not lost after I am gone and some people hopefully many will get some enjoyment and wonder out of it. The story is set in the mid seventies and follows through the years to its conclusion and the final destruction of the Demon. It is a story about my own teenage years from sixteen onwards my adolescent years of living and working in the then heavy industrialized town of Greenock on the west coast of Scotland. During this period a solvent abuse craze was sweeping the whole of the UK which trawled into its nets tens of thousands of teenagers mostly from underprivileged backgrounds and working class housing schemes, I was caught up in this craze and indulged whole heartedly in the abuse. What followed was a crash course into the world of the supernatural, a world that for myself was up to that point being brought up within the catholic faith unheard of the story tells of my experiences during the solvent (glue sniffing) sessions, don’t be misled by the degrading glue sniffing tag that was one of the many solvents used by teenagers during this time of social unrest and depravation, this was the only escape that we at that time had and what an escape, my time on the solvents was a gradual mind altering process through concentration which led from flashing banal out of focus pictures into after years of practice full blown detailed imagery held for minutes at a time in the imagination (no mean feat) these images were not enjoyed by me alone but were indeed created and shared jointly by my close friend and fellow indulgent ‘Hawk’ who was an integral part of my story, there were of course others present but Hawk was the main protagonist in the episodes we endured. As with everything else in life opposites must be endured or controlled the opposite in question in my story was the introduction into my fantastic episodes of what I called simply “the demon” this malevolent force tried to posses my entire being physically and mentally. The second part of the story tells of my twenty year battle with this force and my ultimate destruction of this entity many years after the solvent abuse episodes had passed. I have also tried to make the story as funny as I can remember it because it was a very funny time but during these years as the psychic side of things escalated things like psychometery, and telepathy became second nature to us telekinesis in the beginning was tried with varying success but in later years also became second nature so naturally the comedy seemed to drift into the background and only through hindsight can funny things be found now that I am safe in my bed if you like.
I am under no illusion that of course it was the solvents that caused all of my subsequent the invisible worlds were open to us because of our state of mind during those times a state of mind caused by the pineal gland within the brain being abusively nurtured and unquestionably flowered to put us in touch with other levels of consciousness that I have no doubt exist Because of the phenomena that was occurring on a daily basis the subject of the occult had to be broached and during the second part of the story this subject became very prominent within my day to day existence trying to find answers to impossible questions The Second Magpie I assure you will take you into a different understanding of all things supernatural and may open up a whole new approach to the vast subject of the supernatural I am still after all these years incredibly astounded that the events portrayed within the pages are really true and did in fact really happen, but of course they are and did or I would never ha
William Brown grew up in Greenock, during the 70s and he describes his experiences of being a glue sniffer. I was more interested in reading about places I was familiar with growing up than in the glue sniffing aspect. However it is an interesting commentary on the lives of working class boys at that time. The second part of the book did not engage me. However I'm sure people interested the occult will find it helpful. The book is written well and brings alive the situations described.
