When Megan Ward goes missing, suspicion falls on the stalker seen outside her house. The police would love it to be so simple, but the closer they look the more mysterious Megan herself becomes. They find no photos, no passport, no family or friends from an earlier life, only the corrupted computer files in Megan's strangely impersonal room.
Meanwhile Patrick Doran, owner of Safe Hands Security, is living his own nightmare. A hacker has breached his computer network, where he thought he had safely buried his past.
Then Megan's landlady is murdered - and the shadowy Megan re-emerges. The woman who doesn't exist becomes very real, very elusive and very dangerous....

Again, I have left it too long after finishing this book and reviewing. I need more hours in the day!
Anyway, I do remember enjoying this one. I picked it up on the library shelf on a whim - I like missing persons stories, so that's what drew me in. The plot was engaging (although sometimes a little unbelievable - but that's ok).
Having been offered the new third book in this series as an ARC by Joffe Publishers, I thought I’d best set to and acquaint myself with the characters and read the first two. So, here we go!
The first book See her Burn is a long book but gives a good insight into the characters and their personalities. It is a cracking book, well written and tragic in many ways. Rickman one of the main characters is a complex man with hidden secrets, and his sidekick Foster is a great detective if a little unconventional. Hart is a bit of a mystery, all the men like her, and she’s a good detective. Read this book you won’t be disappointed.
Now, the second one, is even better! I have to say I just loved Megan, she’s quick, clever and outsmarts everyone. As I’ve always said, revenge is a dish best eaten cold! I’m not saying anymore, except, this book is such good value, well they both are, 9 hours per book to get your teeth into and it’s exciting. It held me and I wanted to savour the end, to read it in the early hours and enjoy it on my own with only the dogs, everyone else is asleep! Recommend this on, but read the first one before this.
I liked this book, but I guess I still have a difficult time with the British way of doing things. I'm also horrified to see that human trafficking and murder happen all over. England as I assume, most other countries, have crime and murder and trafficking and mob and psychopaths as much as the US. It saddens me to see that we are worse off than ever, when it comes to crime and criminals. It appears to me that they have more rights than the citizenships of their respective countries. The police have a million rules to follow but the criminal have none! Where is the balance? Although I know that some police personnel can get violent at the wrong, or innocent people, I can almost understand the tension and stress of being under fire almost every moment of the day.
This would have gotten more stars if not for the pointless and dropped storylines. What was up with the car crash Simon was going on about? Why is there still an amnesiac-brother storyline at all? The missing-and-now-returned brother story didn't really go anywhere in book one, other than to prod Jeff's memories, so I figured it would serve a purpose in book two. I was mistaken.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book which had me hooked from the start with it's good storyline & credible likeable characters. I'd never read (or even heard of!) this author before but plan to read more. I hope there will be more in this series to follow as personally I'd like to see Megan Ward make a come-back - I think her & Foster could make an amusing team.
Book 2 of the Detective Rickman series. I was hooked from the first book and read both in one sitting. I really hope a further book is in the pipeline. The story is well written and the main characters are believable and well filled out. The text is so descriptive that you can easily imagine walking besides the characters. Can't wait for the next one..
NOT MUCH OF A MYSTERY THRILLER TO ME. I’M REALLY TIRED OF THE STORYLINE BETWEEN RICKMAN’S BROTHER SIMON AND HIS POOR WIFE AND SONS. THIS IS SO SAD AND I HOPE THE END OF THIS WILL COME SOON. I’VE GOT ANOTHER UNREAD BOOK IN THIS SERIES, DON’T KNOW IF I WILL EVER GET TO IT. A 3BK SERIES I’M SORRY I EVER PICKED THIS ONE, SLOW AND BORING I COULDN’T WAIT TILL IT ENDED. UGH! ;{
SEE HER DIE opens with eerie creepy atmosphere. Continues with a myriad of baffling mysteries. Abounding with chilling suspense. Exciting, heart pounding action. Rounding up with a dynamite confounding finish.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is a well written and well thought out mystery. I am definitely looking forward to more books in the series. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys reading a really great mystery.
Margaret Murphy is an awesome writer. Her plots are top notch and her writing engaging. I've only discovered her books as of 2 weeks ago. I've already read 6 of her books and bought another. Do buy any of her books! They're worth it!
A reasonably good book, about a scammer who is on the run from someone nasty she scammed, and her relationship with the police officer assigned to the case.
I found it started slow and didn't really takeoff until two thirds of the way in, so I took ages to read it
Court Clerk Sara Geddes has a lodger and reporter friend Megan Ward and the appearance of a huge mysterious man watching their home starts a train of events that will lead to murder and a police hunt that seems impossible. The cloud of doom that hangs over the secret world crime is so palpable the reader is drawn into the mystery and the terror. This is a book not to be missed by any lover of the thriller genre, I can't recommend it enough.
I didn't finish it. The prolonging plot ended up with boredom. Maybe I hate Internet Hacks and stuff but I got to admit that the writing is fine. It is just that the story itself might be too techy for some.
Margaret Murphy, please cut to the chase and don't stretch it...
