🦴 The Beast
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
A smutty Beauty and the Beast retelling where the beast never turns hot-prince-himbo, and honestly? Bless.
This novella knows exactly what it is—monster smut with heavy breeding kink, hairy beast bits, knotting, and a full-blown feral forest romp.
Surprisingly loyal to the OG fairy tale in terms of references, which gave it a strange, nostalgic edge while you’re reading about a dripping beast d*ck.
You’re either here for the cum deluge and primal chase, or you’re not. If you are? You’ll have a great time.
Recommendation: Read it with the lights off and shame tucked away.

🐺 The Hunter
⭐⭐⭐½ (3.5/5)
A Little Red Riding Hood retelling, but instead of a basket of bread and a forest stroll, it’s wolf man kink, knotting, Alaskan wilderness smut, and somnophilia-adjacent heat.
Red is thicc, the MMC is growly and territorial, and there’s lots of dripping, claiming, and woodsy action (in both senses).
If you’re into a hero who’d rip someone’s throat out for looking at you wrong—and then drag you into a snowbank for some “claiming”—you’re home.
Also: hairy balls again, because apparently that’s a theme.
Note: Suspension of disbelief is a must. But isn’t that why we’re here?

🐻 Primal
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
A filthy, chaotic why-choose spin on Goldilocks and the Three Bears—except these bears aren’t cuddly and Goldi is very, very willing.
It’s short, wild, and positively feral.
Expect:

Breeding kink? Check.

Knotting? Triple check.

"Painting"? (Yes, in that way.)

Primal chase scenes through the woods? Of course.

Plot? Barely.
If you want erotica that doesn’t apologize, doesn’t hold back, and turns your favorite childhood stories into a filthy fever dream… this one delivers.
Perfect for: When you want to read something absolutely unhinged before bed and then question your morals in the morning.

🧹Final Verdict:
If you're into knotting, breeding, possessive monsters, and dirty fairytale retellings that toss subtlety straight out the window, this whole lineup is basically your buffet.
Not for the faint of heart. But if you’re feral? Bon appétit.

*Contains SPOILERS* For the SAFE readers…

Well… I guess this is not my cup of tea. It’s literally seggs with animals. Maybe the last two can be interpreted as almost human given that their anatomy was similar to a human male. That is why I didn’t enjoy this series much. It was seggs with a lion-like beast, with a wolf, with 3 bears; and I mean basically they were animals. The 4th story was a demon which was humanlike but with different skin (oh, and two PPs!). And the 5th story was a human male but with fangs, claws and wings.

It is a dark book. They are beasts. And they take the girl, sometimes kidnapped. Although to offer them a better life than what they had. There is violence too.

Of all, I enjoyed the most the last two books. But they all have in common - and what I really liked - is that the Heros are obsessed with their female. Basically they are their mate and they help those beasts be better.

So, if you are into seggs with animals, you will like this.

SAFE
- not all are virgins
- ow/om: no
- separation/breakups: no
- cheating/sharing: no
- possible triggers: violence, murder, kidnapping, con-non-con
- HEA: yes

Pure “monster” smut

So, this was pretty spicy. Lots of 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and lots of 💦 💦. No doubt. It is purely monster smut with not a lot of substance, which is completely fine if that’s what you’re looking for. Lots of animalistic coupling that made me both hot and uncomfortable at times, I think because they were less monster and more animals, I suppose. Almost like animals who could talk and walk on hind legs. Except the beast. He was almost exactly like the beast in Beauty and the Beast. The second story dragged a bit in the beginning. So, this was mostly fan fiction. Still worth the read if you just want some smutty smut.

⭐ Review ⭐

Monsters and Beauties is a series of interconnected standalones 🐾 — retellings of Beauty and the Beast, Red Riding Hood, and Goldilocks. The concept is interesting, and I liked the darker twist on the classic stories. The beasts aren’t shifters but full-on monsters 👹, which gives it a unique edge.

It was a fairly good read, though not particularly impressive. The stories have plenty of steamy moments and dark romance vibes, but they didn’t completely pull me in. There are also some shady consent scenes and heavier kinks, so it’s important to check the trigger warnings ⚠️ before reading.

Overall, it was okay — creative and different, just not something I’d read again.

Beauty and Monsters

Jenika is one of my go-to authors. I love allot her books. Curvy women finding their HEA. Each book was amazing and is a reread for me!!! Monster who are more human and kind than the humans who fear them and the woman who looked past the monster to find the man underneath!!!

This book was well worth the read as it has 3 individual retellings.

1. The Beast - Beauty and the Beast Retelling
2. The Hunter - Little Red Riding Hood Retelling
3. Primal - Goldilocks and the 3 Bears Retelling

I think each story was spicy and kept me engaged. All had an enriching back story but my favorite was Primal!

monsters monsters monsters

The Beast:
A smutty monster fudging beauty and the beast re telling where the beast, stays a beast. There’s a breeding kink. Tons of cum, hairy balls, knotting and a chase through the woods. Lots of original beauty and the beast references though. Which I liked. All around good monster smut novella.

The Hunter:

Wolf man monster fudging romance novella. Little red riding hood retelling.
Hairy balls
Knotting
Possessive and protective mmc
Thicc fmc
Alaskan wilderness
Lots of 💦
Somnophelia kinda.
Chase through the woods

great quick read

Primal:
Short read with knotting. Breeding. “Painting” chasing and a why choose. This is a goldilocks and the three bears retelling and it’s quite the spin on it.
