A Deception. Everything Ailith knew had been a lie. Her long immortal life turned upside down in a surge of shadows and blood. An Escape. All Reyne could feel was darkness and revenge. That was until he found a light through the shadows.
For centuries Ailith had been the devoted and diligent child to her Master, bound by a blood bond to serve her every whim. That was until one night and one man shrouded in his own shadow and magic changed it all.
Ailith and Reyne are now bound together through powers far greater than they know.

Hi! I'm Nikki, a lover and writer of all things Fantasy and Romance, where the Morally Grey Villain will always get his happy ending.
From a young age, I've always loved writing stories, from children's books about a girl and her flowers and planting hot dog trees, to dark fantasy novels where the villainous anti-heroes burn the world to save the girl and then everything in between.
When I'm not reading and writing, I'm cuddled up on my couch in my dark home watching the birds and kangaroos with my kids and husband.
Ahhh this book was absolutely incredible and so much fun to read! I couldn’t put it down! Ailith and Reyne’s story was beautiful and so was their healing journeys. Ailith has quickly become a new favourite FMC!🤭 I never wanted it to end! Thank you so much to the author for sending me and arc copy! It was so much fun to read.❤️
I really, really loved this book! I got it free over Christmas as the author was giving it away and something about it just called to me.
Ailith is bound to her master (who is actually female!) and loathes her own position as a vampire but has to do the bare minimum to stay within the master's good graces and feed. The book starts with Ailith traveling to the master's estate and when she gets there, the events change her life.
The book gave me Sandman vibes for Reyne and I loved the way the journey was incorporated, chapter 18 was so eloquent!
I finished the book and it leaves it on a HFN which ended kind of abruptly, there isn't yet another in the series but I really enjoyed the journey and development of Ailith and Reyne's relationship regardless. I would definitely pick up the next in the series if the author does write one.
This got me out of a funk and gave me all the feels, I recommend it as a shadowy read!
What a great debut! I loved reading about Ailith and Reyne! The world description was top tier, the characters were relatable and the plot was thicccc! The action never stopped and the spice was delicious.
If you like plus size FMC, shadow play, Fated Mates, touch her and die vibes this is the book for you.
It's a super quick read and I sincerely hope to get more of their story soon!
I got hooked on this story from the first chapter and read the entire thing in one sitting overnight.
The way in which Nikki has written this book is wonderful. The details - I could hear, see, and smell everything. It was easy to become immersed in this storyline, and as someone who has to be able to see the story in my minds-eye as I read along, Nikki nailed it.
I'm hoping there is more to this story. I'm hoping that Nikki continues with it. I want to know what happens next with Reyne and Ailith. And chapter 18... 🔥 - My sentiments exactly!
