Hadley Hunter came to Moonstone Bay to find herself. That included finding her passion in life. She just didn’t think it would involve becoming mayor. She has no qualifications, other than being a powerful witch. Half the town is rooting against her. The other half is just sitting back to see what happens. Only a handful of people are rooting for her, but they’re the only ones who matter. When a body appears on the beach, one that’s been stabbed in the back and surrounded by curse runes in blood, Hadley finds her attention split. She might be the new mayor, but she’s also interested in what killed a former member of the power-hungry DDA. The investigation involves old grudges, hidden files, a new witch in town, and the island’s biggest secret. Hadley isn’t ready for any of it, but she’s not going to have a choice. Someone on the island is trying to keep dark information from coming to light, and it’s going to put them all in danger. So, brace yourselves, because the new mayor is about to face a very old problem. Can she solve the case and keep the island safe? That’s anybody’s guess, but the odds are stacked against her.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Hadley, Galen and their.vriends.are.back for another magical outing and it's a.fun ride. There's a murdered man found.on the beach, he has a knife.in his back and runes drawn around his body using his blood. The only clues are the fact.that he was a member of the now deposed Downtown Development Agency and has in his possesion a deed to the.property the Sirens reside on. The Sirens.thought they owned the.land their home.sits.in but the D.D.A. Swindled them creating a fraudulent deed, the plan was to steal the.land.from the.Sirens.using the fraudulent deed.and develop it for.a massive profit. Hadley and.Galen feels.for.the Sirens but.if they have taken the.law into their.own hands.........as it looks like they might have done.....Galen will have no choice but to.deal.with them as he would.any other.murderer. Add in it's Hadley's first.day as interim Mayor and fun abounds.... This couple are always good.for a.laugh Galen has.no inhibitions and Hadley has a habit.of.speaking before she thinks so hilarity often ensues........ Then we have Galens mother who causes him to have the.meltdown of all meltdowns when she decides to.spread her.wings and.enter.the.dating pool.........
I generally like this series but I found this one irritating. Galen acted like an immature caveman through the whole thing and treated Hadley like crap when he was throwing a tantrum or whenever he thought he knew better. Hadley was also annoying with the whole "I'm the mayor" thing and denying it when getting called out on how she behaves.
I really enjoy these books. It's the right amount of scarcasm, whit and witchiness. I have read most of Amanda M Lee's books and am never disappointed.
This is a masterful paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. Hadley is witch who lives in a lighthouse on a magical tropical island. She’s engaged to a local sheriff who is a wolf shifter. She has numerous friends including a half fire demon a Cupid a siren and a shark shifter. Her grandmothers ghost is hanging around and her grandfather owns a farm on Allen. Hadley recently was appointed into mayor after her and the other resident disbanded the previous government called the DDA. There is always something going on around the island. Either one of the factions causing problems or visitor causing problems or any number of other things going on. no spoilers so you’ll have to read to see what it is but on Hadley‘s first day she already runs into a bump in the road. Read on and see what adventure weights and hassles she hast to look forward to. All the crew is there along with plenty of mystery action a bit of Snark and lots of fun. Enjoy
I love the characters in this series, however this book just didn’t do much for me. Don’t get me wrong, more information was uncovered, and the possibility of another characters return was floated, but I was just not engaged with it this go round (I think it was Galen constantly wanting to be desired by all the other women that did it 🤦🏻♀️). Still, it seems like the new transplants will be in the next book so I’m hoping that this was just a glitch.
This book could have been half the amount of pages that it was. The plot was good and it wasn’t easy to figure out. Unfortunately, over half the book was Hadley whining about how she couldn’t be the mayor and Galen telling her she would do great. Over and over and over the same blah, blah, blah conversation. I don’t know how many times I wanted to say, will you just shut up and move on. It was so annoying. Why do the characters, that could be strong and amazing, have to be turned into a bunch of whining brats who lose all confidence in themselves?
I’ve read so so many of Amanda’s series and seldom do I leave less than ⭐️⭐️🌙⭐️⭐️ and today I’m not going to leave less than five again!
If you like women that are courageous, snarky, strong, sassy, magical, loyal to family and friends, and can solve whodunnits of the crime variety, you’ll enjoy Lee’s books. Oh ya, and a lot of mooshy, k-i-s-s-i-n-g, and a healthy sexual appetite with their boyfriends. There is always PDA in Lee’s books.
This book opens with Hadley starting her first day on the job as the mayor of Moonstone Bay. There hasn’t been a mayor in over 100 years and Hadley is as nervous as ever - rightly so. Her Office Assistant, Olivia hates her before Hadley even makes it all the way across the doors threshold. Olivia has no reason to hate her except that Hadley “stole” Galen from her although Galen admits she wasn’t ever a prospect in the first place. Olivia doesn’t care about facts.
Olivia is a big jerk who shows no respect to Hadley even though she’s her boss. Doesn’t matter. Hadley doesn’t have time to care about jealous girls because a body with a knife in its back is discovered on the beach and Hadley is determined to catch the killer.
Next book in this series is: All Witches on Deck (A Moonstone Bay Cozy Mystery Book 14)
Only problem is that Book 14’s release isn’t until July 2, 2024. That’s a long way and a hundred books away for me!
And now for my next choice of reading material… I choose “The Hitwoman Gets Caught”: A Comical Crime Caper — Book 41 Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman Written by JB Lynn
The Hitwoman series is a good one. Maggie is the main character and the Hitwoman. She has a special gift and that is she understands animals. They talk to her! In English! So she always has backup when she’s on a job to catch the bad guy (or bad girl). Her animal friends can spy for her in plain sight because no one suspects animals to be listening to their conversations and then reporting back to someone else.
Hadley sucks as mayor. I don’t think she even worked a total of 8 hours in her first week! She much more invested in being a police detective than a mayor. She doesn’t want to deal with the concerns of the citizens, finding their issue mundane, but instead go out and solve crime. The point of being a mayor is that you ARE there to serve your public. Making her mayor is one of the dumbest plot twists that could have happened. The author should have stuck with the fortune telling out of her golf cart plot.
And their toxic codependent relationship is another trope I’ve noticed from two other of Amanda Lee’s series. C’mon, lady, do better, be better. They can’t even be separated to go to work independently?
And cool it with the sex. Jebus, we know they’re hot for each other. We know they need to let everyone know they’re hot for each other. And we know they need their friends to let everyone else know Hadley and Galen are hot for each other. I skip through so many pages of this ickiness.
This series could have been five fantastic novels instead of 15 mediocre novels if so much unnecessary dialog was included. Take a quarter of each of the current books - the part with a little bit of meat, not the part with all the heavy petting and mundane I love you more no I love you more - and smush them into five.

Hadley starts her new job as Mayor of Moonstone Bay with a murder on the beach. It's a member of the deposed DDA who is suspected of being involved in the Cooper's Hollow fiasco.
Efforts to find the killer don't seem to be going very well and neither does Hadley's relationship with Olivia, her office manager, or Drew, the half cupid janitor who is under the beady gaze of Galen and Booker following misusing his powers.
It doesn't take long to establish that someone has hired a witch to reinstate the DDA, or for more victims to drop in a similar fashion to the first, but delving deeper into the land grab is proving impossible... none of the documents are complete, names of the co-conspiritors have been redacted... our group have loose ends, plenty of suspects, both known and unknown, and it's going to take a team effort and a lot of trust to figure out the truth...
I can't say I have never loved a book from Ms. Lee. But the characters, the growth of each character and the relationships that have happened thru 13 books is spectacular. This book was a little unique as to seeing traditionally not the best characters start to change by doing good things. Additionally, an unlikely character who has helped get rid of bad guys but not wanted to worked together willingly and that was interesting. A real page turner with unexpected events and alliances.
Galen and Hadley are back to solve a mystery. An ex member of the DDA is found murdered on the beach with a knife in their back. They aren't sure who could be responsible but one thing is for sure it has to be tied to the DDA.
I really loved this book and Hadleys first few days as Mayor. I cannot wait to see what happens next for this group of friends they're always so much fun and I love the whit between them.
Love Amanda's books. I read 4 of her series. Her characters are people i would like to have as friends. The stories grab me. I find myself laughing out loud a t many points in the story. I always find it difficult to wait for the next one to come out. She is a wonderful writer.
I'm not good at giving review, but I love this series I highly recommend them. what i like about this series is the message it gives Badly, Galen and crew is what friendship should be about; you accept your friend with good and the ugly and just be there for them when they need you. Actually I recommend all of Amanda M Lee books
Hadley is coming into her own. Starting her job as mayor is only a small part. When a murder happens the first day on the job, Hadley must pursue the dark underbelly of the former DDA. What she finds could bring danger to the Sirens and put a bigger target on her back. Excellent installment of the series!
The change of power has started. The DDA is out and the new mayor is taking office. Hadley does not know what she has gotten herself into with being mayor. Galen and all her friends have faith in her. Now if someone would stop killing people. Now that she sliced this one, next adventure awaits.💙💚
It’s Hadley’s first day as Mayor and you guessed it, there’s a body found on the beach. It looks like a ritualistic murder. But some things don’t add up.
Her “assistant” is out for her and with more bodies come more questions.
I chose the 3 star rating because I really do enjoy Amanda Lee's writing. This book just didn't excite me at all. I kept having to go back a chapter or so to re-inform myself what was happening and WHY! I'll continue to read Amanda Lee, but perhaps just go no further with this series.
The mystery in this one was pretty straightforward, but not an easy guess out the gate. The frustrating part was the constant love relationship Galen had with Himself (seriously, he kissed his own biceps). Hadley's repetitive "I'm-the-Mayor/Should-I-be-the-Mayor" monologues were pretty painful too. Just not one of my favorites in the series.

Hadley, Galen, Lilac and Booker are a fun group. Hadley is getting her feet wet as mayor. The mystery is really of the “whodunit” variety. Looking forward to the next book.
I've yet to find one of her stories that I don't like. That includes pen names! I'm amazed that her stories are exciting, one after another. Such a pleasure! I will stop reading my current book if one of hers comes out, just so I can get to her story.
I love love the story of Galen and Hadley and their friends/family I am so hoping when the get married they have twins Galen's girl and Hadley's boy. Keep up the exceptional work you do Amanda I am enjoying every story you create
Such a great story in this series. I so love all of this authors different series.and how..she.has.connected the characters and storylines to overlap. Can't wait for the next one.
This is another good read in this series! I love the way the couples are getting a bit salty as time goes on. They seem to be progressing as normal in love couples do, lol. I love this Author's writing and look forward to all of her new releases. I highly recommend this book.
I enjoy these books but the constant reminders and run-ins with exes of his is just too much. I prefer the series where the MMC is new to the area so we don’t constantly have his past thrown in our faces.
This episode was sort of housekeeping. I figure some huge disaster will turn up in the next book, but it would be boring to have a constant acceleration. Interesting about the sirens and the plane door. Good to get rid of Drew.
Hadley is now mayor, but between her crazy assistant and 3 murders and the trouble with the Cooper Hollow sirens her first week is going to the dogs great read with lots of snark and fun
Any time I read an Amanda Lee novel it is high jinx and fun with a bit of murder and mayhem included. With sassy quips and great friends that stick together. There is no better way to spend an afternoon reading
Emjoyable.read.and.great storyline. Fantastic.development of characters I've come.to enjoy, i.cant.wait to.read.the rest of the story especially when the mystic caravan joins the island .
What an amazing story, never knew where it was going to go; all the great characters are back with more responsibilities and more adventures. I really loved it and hope the next story cones soon.
