Winter has descended on Hawthorne Hollow like a chilly blanket, and all Scout Randall wants to do with her days is snuggle in bed with her gas station chicken and wait for spring to arrive.
Nothing in her life ever goes the way she planned, however.
There are gods afoot, as if Scout didn’t have enough to deal with. The Nordic goddess Skadi is in town, and she has something specific on her mind.
With the new lamia apex down for the count—whether she’ll survive her ultimate transition, nobody can say—Scout thinks she has some breathing room to get to know the family that’s only recently come to town. Instead, she’s got a god to deal with, and Skadi means business.
Scout’s magic is ever-evolving but is she strong enough to face a god? When another god arrives hellbent on fighting it out with the first god, Scout thinks things can’t get worse. She’s wrong. Things can always get worse. A god fight is not what Scout was anticipating it. It’s upon her, though. Worse, it seems one of the gods might be partnering with the lamia apex with domination on their minds. What does that mean? An end for them all.
Scout has been reticent about facing her new reality. She’s out of time, though. She either has to agree to take on the mantle of the pixie apex, or Hawthorne Hollow—and ultimately the world—will fall into ruin.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
The situation with the Apex Lamia takes a turn for the worse.
So far Scout and her friends have always managed to come out on top but things are now heading towards the endgame. The final big battle is looming and Scout I having difficult time accepting that her friend I'll be in danger and there Is nothing she cm do to stop it....the prophecy must play out as it's supposed to. Meanwhile there are ice zombies in town and a norse Goddess is with them wanting to know by happened to the Apex Lamia.....................
absolutely incredible paranormal cozy mystery series
This is an absolutely incredible paranormal cozy mysteries series. This particular series is one of many in this authors magical world. Most of them crossover at some point or another intermeeting the characters in each other’s lives and battles. This series has a great cast of characters and spectacular storyline. A group called spells angels are paranormal that go out and battle against Paranormal evil wherever they are based to keep the world in the human safe. Scout who joined her current group of spells angels has recently become an Apex pixie as well as being a pixie witch. She’s battling multiple fronts but has a lot of help from her spells angel group as well as other paranormal in the area and beyond. Read and see where her adventures take her this time and who she’s up against. It’s always entertaining it’s always acting impact and you were guaranteed at least one or two characters from the other series pop up every so often. Enjoy
I absolutely love Scout and the gang. We are getting ready for the final showdown. So much action and adventure plus growth. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Loved it
Scout struggles to let others in more so than any of the other characters in Amanda M Lee's universe. She is brave and cares deeply for her friends. I love all the books the author writes. Cannot wait for the next one!
The stronger the magic the less interesting the book. And the heroine was pretty sulky throughout. I like the people, but I wasn't happy with this book.
What I enjoyed: * I think my favorite part was learning that Odin wrote the history of the Norse gods and wasn't exactly honest * Love Evan - he needs more plot * Interesting ending
What could have been better: * I am so over Scout and her family issues. Every other sentence was I know I should but I don't want to. Either do something or drop them, I can't take this anymore. * I'm sick of these books being about characters from other books. At this point the Winchester witches are basically main characters even though they have their own series. And interrupting Poet's honeymoon twice???
As the war approaches a new face shows up throwing her hat in the ring, yet is she that important? There seems to be another interest who is trying to make sure Scout has important skills she needs. What is this going to mean?
The new apex Lamia is struggling with her new powers but has also tried to ally herself with a goddess.
In the dark and grappling with emotions around family, Scout is uncomfortable realizing she must let everyone in, potentially let everyone have a role in the upcoming war. If she can be the sacrificed hero, what will they do? Can they win?
Autofill crafted story. Every scene a page turner. Found myself literally screaming for joy as two characters connect for the first time.
I am sad I am all caught up and have to wait for the next book :). Sigh, poor Scout, she means well, but she should have listened to the book, now she has made her road much more difficult. I mean, how did she not see that coming? She tends to do this often. I find it funny she says she isn't God like, yet wants to protect everyone and do things herself and it always makes it harder and has consequences. Its not a bad trait, I think we now know why Emma wasn't chosen, but I still kind of feel bad for her. It is going to be interesting to see how that plays out, something tells me it won't be that simple. At this point, there are tons of players, I am sure there will be more and it is hard to know what is destiny and what isn't and why not at this point. I thought I knew how this series was gonna play out, but now I am not so sure. I look forward to the next book
Story plot 5 stars. Whining Scout and the whole BS dealing with her parents throughout yet another book in the series is just too much. How much coaxing will we have to endure? How many more books will she deny a relationship with her parents and claim, “I’m doing the best that I can?” Will the author have this grown ass woman character ever put her big girl parties on, and get the hell on with a relationship with her family? If there’s no relationship, write them out of the story but for the love of everything, stop the freaking whining!
The big fight is coming and Scout and the girls are getting ready. Who knew gods could be a pain, causing havoc all over the place. Scout needs to learn when to step back and let the natural order fall into place, because she didn't stay out of a fight her sister lost something. Emma says she's ok, but is she really? We will find out in the book. On to the next adventure!💚💙
That was so good. It makes it so I hate REPEAT HATE to have to wait for the next book for another 6 months it's just not fair. The thing I love most about this author is that she combines all the characters from the other series that you read and love together. It just warms my heart and makes their world more believable and more real to me. Great job Amanda you nailed it again.
I've gotten used to the assorted supernatural specie in these books: witches, shifters, mages, pixies, loas, gods,.... And I am OK with the idea that rewriting history can take power from gods, but this total rewrite of Skadi and Odin has left me cross. I'm also getting tired of the building up in all the books to some ultimate showdown. I like monster fighting and romance, but apex this and that, not so much.
I absolutely love the Amanda Lee books. I enjoy how she does crossovers within the books with her characters. This one is no different. Scout is stronger and struggles with the big fight to come because she worries about her friends getting hurt. She still needs to come to terms with her family. There is an ice monster and a goddess making trouble. What happens is surprising and this book is a great read. I could not put it down.
So far I can't put them down. I have read almost all of the series she has written. I can't stop, I want the outcome and yet I am hopeful it is a long way off. I just can't get over Amanda way of writing, the way she has interlinked all of the stories amazes me. I think I and in the middle of an addiction. You will feel all characters through her writing. Thank you to the author Amanda M. Lee for being you.
Scout is planning being snowed in with Gunner. Unfortunately, some gods and a lamia have other plans. Throw in Scout's returned extended family and ice zombies to get a complicated mess.
Will Scout and all her friends have what it takes to survive and thrive? Read to find out.
I feel like this one covered a lot of ground leading to the big battle. Also Lots of fun cameo’s by some of our favorite couples not even counting Bay and Stormy. Think I’ll be reading this one again to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Can’t wait for the next book!
I'm feeling very angsty over this hook and series. I like the author but I feel like every book series she writes is on a similar plotline and ending outcome. I understand that they all exist in the same world but I am starting to feel like its all one storyline just split up across different series. I like crossovers but I like new plot lines for each series.
As expected by Ms. Lee this was awesome read. Having "Bob" join in the fun was unexpected but exciting. The cozy mystery was good. I didn't see the outcome coming. I love when the outcome is not what I expected. The characters and their snarky Interactions is the best part and always makes me laugh out loud. I loved reading this book!
But then again it seems like just yesterday Scout and the crew were beating their enemies. This has all the usual twists then some. So much happening, lots of surprises, lots of the characters from other series that I love. With that said, absolutely exceptional, great story and hope the next comes soon. Fantastic job Amanda.
Another great installment from Amanda M. Lee. As usual she leaves you with a cliffhanger and you can’t help but wonder what she is thinking up next. I’m waiting very impatiently for her next book and I can’t wait to read it. I will be sad when the series ends. This one was an amazing story that kept me hooked till I finished it.
The final showdown is happening... we just don't know when or who all will be involved. I went into this book thinking this was it... the final hoorah but happily found out that this wasn't the last book in the series. The prophecy has been written but one little twitch along the way can change everything. With the end in sight, I know which side I'm betting on. I only hope I'm right.
Stormy and Gunner are ready to get supplies and hunker down for a couple of days in anticipation of a projected blizzard. What the blizzard brings instead of quiet time is a winter god and ice zombies. The new apex lamia and her sister Emma are also part of the drama.
This series had started as one of my favorites. Now it seems to be nothing but a pity party and whiny "baby" complaints by Scout. I don't care if she is the Apex Pixie. Scout the Pout fits better than any other terms so far. I'll have to focus on one of the other series, I think I'm about done with this one.
Another great read from one of my favorite authors Amanda M. Lee. This is a great series. The plot is fast paced. The book has plenty of mystery, romance and lots of humor. This author tends to be very snarky, but I love snarky. I highly recommend this book and this entire series.
I love to have the incorporation of characters from her many different books coming together to help each other with their own unique abilities and gifts. I may not keep up with every one of her different series, but I know enough of each one to keep my anticipation of the next book in the series high.
Lots of progress is make in this story; some totally out of the blue. I can honestly say, there is one part that took me by surprise. I like how many of the characters (both main and supporting) from other series appear in this one. Everything is connected, or is it?
Book 11 has humor, snark a d sass, mystery, loads of magic, new and old paranormal creatures, gods(one seen in previous series and one new), and some evil, some not. Highly entertaining.
I love this series! It was great to catch up on Scout's story and even get to have some other favorite characters join the story. I'm already looking forward to the next book!
