In this novel of fly fishing, mystery, and romance in the wild woods and waters of western Maine, fishing guide Sal D'Amico is threatened with the loss of his backwoods cabin to developers and his favorite trout stream to gold prospectors. Gun shots are heard in the forest, and a young veteran returned from the middle east, turns up missing. This novel is the sequel to the author's previous novel, North of Easie. Includes wonderful cover art by John Swan, and a delightful interior map by Trish Romano.

Robert J. Romano, Jr. is the author of the Rangeley Lakes series of novels: "North of Easie," "West of Rangeley," and "Brook Trout Blues."

"North of Easie" won second place in the 2010 New England Outdoor Writer’s Best Book Contest.

Released in 2016, the tenth-anniversary edition of "Shadows in the Stream," Bob’s book of essays, is also set in the Rangeley Lakes Region.

Romano’s essays and short stories have appeared in various anthologies, including "Christmas in the Wild," "Fresh Fiction for Fresh Water Fishing," and "Wildbranch: An Anthology of Nature, Environmental, and Place-Based Writing."

His latest Novel, "The River King" is due out December 2017.

He also writes articles for various magazines and newspapers and does his best to keep up with his blog: forgottentrout.wordpress.com.

Trish Romano often adds illustrations and photographs to her husband's books and essays. The couple have owned a camp in western Maine for more than thirty years. Sometimes referred to as "The Land of Fishing Legends," it is a region of the country where you can still find a moose around the next bend in the river and native brook trout sharing the pools with wild landlocked salmon.
