Ashton Abbott is an anxiety ridden hot mess most of the time. I can say that because I’m talking about myself. This is kind of therapeutic.
I write paranormal romance, dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic paranormal romance, and horror in the near future. I like to think I write on the grittier side of things. Is grittier a word? I guess this is my book so I can do whatever I want. Grittier is officially a word according to this book. Geez I’m bad at this. Ok, about me.
I am a Mom to two beautiful hellions. I have a smokin’ hot husband. I love them even though they can have an attitude sometimes. Honestly, it’s karma because so do I. How long does this thing have to be?
I enjoy reading and gaming when I have a moment to actually take a breath and chill. Epson salt baths! I play the shit out of some Minecraft.
I actually genuinely love hearing from my readers so don’t be shy! I post a ton of memes on my Facebook page and am not above getting into best meme contest so feel free to challenge me. BYYYEEEE!

Captivating Conclusion

The third and final book to the These Cursed Origins series and Avery’s story. This has been a captivating and imaginative tale with elements of the paranormal, supernatural and mystical throughout.

The world building and descriptive detail in these books really transports you to another world and the visceral reactions you experience are powerful. A great series if you enjoy dark paranormal fantasy with some romance.

I’ve included my reviews for books 1 and 2 since you need to read all three books in order to follow the continuing storyline.

— Survive the Cursed
—— These Cursed Origins #1
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent World Building!!

This is my first book by Ashton Abbott and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the author’s imagination and writing style. I was very intrigued by the plot and storyline, so I just had to read it! I’m glad I did.

The story is set in a post apocalyptic world full of zombies, werewolves, vampires in addition to some mysterious supernatural creatures! Surviving an apocalypse with just one of these beings would be hard enough, but a world full of supernatural beings all at war with each other creates quite a hostile world. But even in the most hostile of environments, love can break through.

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book, especially since book one ends on a cliffhanger. Great start to this series and I can’t wait for book two!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
— Become the Cursed
—— These Curesed Origins #2
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And the Excellence Continues
Picking up right where book one left off, the reader is thrust into a mystifying and complex story.
Avery’s entire world is turned on it’s head. She is no longer the Avery of her past but who is she supposed to be now? What side is she supposed to support and defend? Who is good? Who can she trust? And the questions continue. Nothing is the same and the hunt for what is right and truthful is paramount.
The excellent world building continues in book two and can be quite visceral at times. This series will challenge you and intrigue you for sure. I’m absolutely captivated and need to know how this story will end!
A couple special notes:
Book one and two end on cliffhangers so be prepared to read the entire series in order for full understanding and enjoyment.
This series contains graphic material that could be triggering to some. The author has trigger warnings available for your consideration.
Overall, these stories are captivating and thrilling. Well written with great world building and creative originality.
Transcend? Nah, I detonated. This final book didn’t just wreck me—it rebirthed me right alongside Avery in a storm of blood, fury, and fire-forged redemption.
From the very first page, Ashton Abbott came for my soul. And not with soft hands. With claws. This was no easy goodbye—it was a savage, teeth-baring ride into the darkest corners of what trauma really does to a person. What it did to her. To me as I followed every jagged beat of Avery’s descent.
You want to talk raw? Try watching a woman who's survived everything finally snap—and I mean really snap. That line between victim and villain? It blurred so damn beautifully in Avery’s hands, and I was right there with her, feeling that gnawing ache of wanting to be the one who scares people for once, not the one broken on the floor. I’ve never related to a fictional inner monologue so hard. Her rage wasn’t just relatable—it was cathartic.
But here's where Ashton hits with the twist of the blade: redemption. Not soft and sparkly. No. This redemption is dirty. Bloody. Unearned, yet desperately needed. Tyler? That man was ten toes down through her chaos, refusing to give up on her even when she gave up on herself. And when the demon watchers got involved? GOOSEBUMPS. Literal chills. They broke the rules for her, and I screamed—because deep down I wanted to believe that someone would break rules for me too.
Avery’s arc from soldier to fugitive to full-on predator and back again was a damn masterclass in character evolution. She didn’t just “find herself.” She clawed her way back from oblivion, demanded to own every piece of her story—the trauma, the power, the parts she hated and the ones she feared. And that final choice she made? That soul-deep shift? I felt it like thunder in my chest.
This trilogy? It’s not just a post-apocalyptic paranormal fantasy—it’s therapy with claws. It’s for every woman who’s ever felt caged by the expectations of who she’s supposed to be, who’s ever wanted to burn it all down just to feel something, and who still dares to believe she can rise from the ashes.
Ashton Abbott, you didn’t just write a finale—you exorcised something in me.
If you’ve made it through Survive and Become, buckle up—Transcend the Cursed will either break you… or finally set you free.
And honestly? I needed both.
I want to give this 1 star because of the end
But...... it was going so good and I liked almost everything but how this ended. Completely ruined this whole series for me.
So, 2.5 stars.
Spoiler!!!
The trauma dump was pretty good. It went on way too long, but it was really good. This was the best emotional piece of this series. It was raw.
The romance, though. What even was that? There's like nothing to make it.
Avery wasn't just cruel. She tortured him.
And let's say they could have connected; it wasn't written like that.
And given literally right up until that point, that girl was expressing serious brokenness, what was he even thinking going there with her? He witnessed it. It all felt very wrong to me. Time was needed for that to make sense.
This was so close to being a really, really good book. But it definitely suffers from all telling and very little showing.
I won't read the next series. I'm not interested in going in circles, no matter how interesting the premise is. And I am not looking for a HEA here.
we reach the end of the trilogy at 213 pages. This is the most emotional installment. Avery’s journey through rage, self-loathing, and PTSD is raw, relatable, and powerfully written. The romance finally appears here but remains mild and secondary to her healing journey. However, readers should approach with caution, as the book delves deeply into trauma, grief, and recovery.
The Ending and MAJOR WARNING: The ending! Ashton Abbott, you’re absolutely right—I HATE YOU. How could you do this to us?! But don’t get me wrong, I have zero regrets about reading this trilogy. It paves the way for a new series, Curse of the Reapers, which I’m already eagerly anticipating.
Ashton Abbott is quickly becoming a favorite author. The covers are stunning, and the artwork inside the books is gorgeous. I hope future installments include even more!.
🫣💀Very, very, very dark...
Avery was overcome with thoughts and feelings. She surveyed her surroundings, her eyes saturated with swirls of color.
The fire had ravaged everything.
Oxygen was scarce.
Avery remembered a name: Tyler...
^^^^^^^^^
A very, very, very dark 3rd final volume, the author had warned the reader.
Between madness and/or illness, Good and/or Evil, the main character of Avery has a hard time choosing...
The reading is hard, heavy.
Avoid if you are hypersensitive.
I wanted to know the ending so much that I went all the way to the end: and I was not disappointed.
Bravo to the author: it must not have been easy everyday to write this novel.
Transcend the Cursed is the powerful conclusion to the Cursed Origins trilogy, and what a rollercoaster ride it has been! Avery has faced the impossible and fought her way through unimaginable challenges, showcasing her incredible resilience.
This installment is particularly dark and compelling, taking the story to new heights while maintaining the captivating elements that drew me in from the start. I loved every moment of this series, and the characters and their journeys will linger in my mind long after I’ve turned the final page. What a remarkable journey!.
This was sharp, painful, and more than a part of the series.So much more.
This was the author letting all the pain, feelings so uncomfortable because of how the brain works, and all the filth of trauma out of her mind and pores. This was written in the most honest way it could have been. The main character needed to go through this because it was part of the journey, going through the pain to find the light. If you don’t want to read what that feels like, skip to the last two chapters and move on. Respect, however, the voice - the path - and the guts it took to write this.
Book three of These Cursed Origins series, Transcend the Cursed is another fantastic installment to the genius that is Abbott! I don’t think I’ve stopped crying from the last book, and now? Oh, dear, I’m still crying at the end of this one! It’s so insanely dark, but so beautiful at the same time. The grief and trauma that Avery is faced with at each turn is gut wrenching! Abbott has seared my soul once again with this series, and I will continue to devour each and every work she puts out. Simply amazing!.
Wow. Intense, heart wrenching, deep, beautiful in its own right. LOTS OF TRIGGER WARNINGS.
I’ve been reading Ashton’s books for years. This book gutted me and left me feeling so many feels. I am so proud of the work she does and the stories she tells. This one in particular is written from the deepest, darkest, parts of one’s suffering and yet brings light, hope, and healing energy by the time you’re through.
I only give 4 stars because of the nature of the trigger warnings of which she clearly gives in the beginning of the book.
3 stars for me. Avery is still at the blood camp, hold against her will ,tortured and violated. With Mattias and Tyler help she broke out of this prison, and together with Tyler she got her revenge.
Most of the book was dark,with Avery suffering, self loathing and rage.
I still want to read it,and had a feeling that something will happen, and was waiting almost to the end,also Avery love for Tyler felt rushed, I was wondering where that come from.
I hope to read book 4, and maybe that will save for me this series. A fast read, with shocking ending.
Read trigger warnings.
Thank you booksprout and author for my copy.
I have no words. This was truly amazing. What a way to end this trilogy. It was so dark, so intense. I was raging at some parts. Hurt at others. Always rooting for Avery. She went through hell and back. This was so masterfully written. I’m just torn to pieces with this one.
