Leila I have rules. Dating? Out of the question. One night stands? That’s my specialty. That is, until an unexpected game of spin the bottle lands me face-to-face with Aiden Pierce, Redfield’s basketball team captain. Aiden is captivating, talented and persistent and he slowly chips away at my defences until we strike a deal. No strings attached and absolute secrecy. It was supposed to be uncomplicated, but the more time I spend with him, the harder it becomes to remember why we can’t be together.
Aiden This was never part of the plan. Leila Pérez is tempting, assertive and unattainable. And after one hot night that has etched itself in my mind, leaving me craving more, we made an arrangement. Keep it physical and don’t catch feelings. But the more I see her, the more my desire for her deepens, even as her hesitations try to push me away. I’m determined to prove to her how good we can be together, if only she’d take the leap. There’s just one problem. I’m hiding something from her, threatening to unravel everything we’ve built.

She can speak both languages fluently, though she tends to mix both languages when speaking. this was hot as hell and the plus size fmc’s insecurities spoke to me on a visceral level BUT everything moved far too quickly and the third act break up came too late for my liking
okay this was so so good - UNTIL and with the blackmail plot. I stayed up so late and I was eating this up but let me tell you it should've just ended when she went to the game in his jersey. the third act breakup was way too late in the book and there was not enough time in the book for the relationship to be repaired. without that plot point this would've been like a 4.5 for me. pretty great writing run of the mill but I loved the execution of the tropes but it got so derailed for me
This book needs a HUGE trigger warning for abuse, body image issues, disordered eating, alcoholism, and substance use issues (just to name a few things). I wouldn’t have picked up this book if I had known about all of the triggers that it had, especially the lack of careful attention to and navigation around some of them.
I could tell that there were large sections of the book that were well-refined, edited, and had a lot of thought put into them - but it was not the case for a majority of the book. I VERY often had no grasp of how much time had passed between chapters, had no sense of how characters had interacted between time jumps, and was just downright confused multiple times because of how much the author left out. There was one chapter where the main male character just walked off the basketball court and ran into the crowd after making a shot, leaving me GUESSING that the game was over (surely it was, because he left after…?).
I honestly wouldn’t recommend the book for the characters or the plot at all. Spicy scenes? Sure. But the way the book was advertised to me made it seem like the main female character’s relationship with her body was an entirely positive one, which was not the case at all.
this book is a masterpiece! as a plus size girl I saw myself in Leila so much and i just wanted the best for her. Aiden is the perfect boyfriend for her omg i was giggling, kicking my feet and swooning over this man. Everything that he did was for her and the lengths that he went to make sure she know how much he loves her and how perfect her body is was just so heartwarming.
this book started out so good! i was sensing a rival to lovers kind of book but not too far along the book the author seemingly became lazy, it just became a book that was written for people who are still on their wattpad journeys when we were 13. the writing became childish, the plot became lost and you couldn’t differentiate between the 2 main characters. there were instances where you could see that there was no character development in both of them.
It was a fun read in the moment but I probably won’t remember much about it in a while. The writing was repetitive and the relationship could’ve used some more development.
Also felt like Leila’s conflict resolution with her mom was very rushed. The conflict felt a bit silly and dragged on.
The smut was well written and there were some scenes that really made me smile.
I’m delirious. I never wanted this book to end! I’m constantly thinking about Aiden and Leila even after finishing the book! You know how even though we all love doing this, you sometimes read one specific book and you think to yourself, this is really the reason why I love to read? This book did that to me.
I can’t even begin to describe how much these characters meant to me. How well I resonated with them and their story to the point where I felt everything they endured as though they were family. Oh but wait. I think they do feel like family. That is how much I love them.
Aiden was the perfect mmc. I loved how unabashed he was of his vulnerabilities. He wore his emotions on his sleeves and didn’t give a damn if it made him look ‘weak’ (no because when ever did emotions equate weakness??). I loved his love for Leila. He’d gladly give up everything for her. But mostly, I loved his mouth. Not just because he was a dirty talker (that was a bonus) but this man could make ANYBODY feel good about themselves in just a single sentence. I’m not even joking.
And Leila. God, Leila. She was so stubborn and difficult but so very relatable and understandable. Not just once or even twice, I wished I could give her a big hug. I think we all know everyone has insecurities and flaws. But it’s sometimes difficult to remember that when we’re constantly being reminded of why we would never measure up to certain standards. And it’s not only with the topic about size or beauty in general (although it’s definitely the prominent and commonest one) but also so many others imaginable. It’s why my heart didn’t just break for Leila but also for every one of us who’s been made to feel less one way or the other.
Finally, I loved the friendships in this book! While Aiden and Grayson’s bond was beautiful, if I ever had a group of besties, I’d want them to be exactly like Leila and her girls. Everyone with their chaos just made them so much fun to read lol. And most importantly, they were very supportive. I wonder whose book will be next as it was quite unclear in this. Whoever it is though, I physically can’t wait!
A big thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an ARC. I loved every bit of it!
I feel like this book had a lot of potential but left disappointed. I ended up skimming the last 30% of the book. I feel like it could have ended when she shows up at the game in his jersey.
There were some holes in the plot and the timeline in which things happened. He made a shot during the game and then suddenly ran off the court and left? But the game wasn’t over?
I love a good blackmail moment but this one felt out of place and unnecessary. It was mentioned within the first few chapters and then at the end but that was it. I felt like it didn’t add to the story at all.

i don't have much to say about this book tbh, everyone in this book were very happy which was um kinda concerning 😭 the reason I started reading this book was because it was about a confident plus size fmc which is interesting but this book was way too cutee which was um tm for me to handle lmao initially I was like super excited cuz there was a possessive and obsessed mmc but noo this is just not it it was more like love at first sight but not exactly which is uh noo overall everything that was gonna happen in this book was very predictable, the story was pretty cliche :( but one thing is fs the friendships in this book were amazing 😍 tbh I didn't dnf the book cuz of the friendships cuz wowow they were real goood
This is the worst representation of a plus-size woman I've ever read in my life. No wonder them skinny girls on bookstagram were eating it up. I should've known.
SO, I , AGAIN, LET MYSELF TRUST BOOKSTAGRAM REELS. WASTED MY FUCKING TIME OVER THIS. I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS BOOK BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT'D BE GOOD, OKAY? NOW, COME TO THE MISS LEILA, THE FMC. MISS LEILA'S MONOLOGUE WERE GIVING A TOUGH COMPETITION TO WATTPAD'S Y/N. YEAH. YOU HEARD RIGHT. THE WHOLE BOOK GAVE WATTPAD FANFIC VIBES. I AM NOT SHAMING HER FOR HAVING BODY INSECURITIES, BUT THE WAY SHE WAS EXPRESSING IN HER MONOLOGUE AND THE WAY IT WAS WRITTEN WAS REALLY *UWU* Y/N. AND, YOU KNOW WHAT ? ONE OF THE TROPES WAS " REVERSE GRUMPY X SUNSHINE" WHICH I REALLY ADORE BUT I GUESS MOST OF THE AUTHORS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GRASP A PERFECT REPRESENTATION OF A GRUMPY FEMALE CHARACTER. BEING GRUMPY DOESN'T MEAN BEING RUDE. MISS LEILA WAS UNNECESSARILY RUDE TO AIDEN, LIKE WHAT THE FUCK? HE WAS ACTUALLY BEING NICE TO YOU. HE WAS BUT... AND NOW, COME TO MISTER AIDEN PIERCE, BRO, YOU WERE A SUNSHINE BALL, NO DOUBT ON THAT, FUNNY TOO!! BUT YOU WERE BEING CLINGY TOO. AIDEN WAS REPETITIVELY ASKING FOR HER NUMBER AND THAT WAS SO PATHETIC TO READ. BRO WAS SO DESPERATE TO MAKE HER BELIEVE THAT SHE WANTS HIM. LIKE BRO STFU, AND GO PLAY YOUR SPORT, AREN'T YOU SOME KING OF REDFIELD? THEN, OUT OF NOWHERE THEY CAME TO THE FUCKING FACT THAT THEY WILL DO FRIENDS/ENEMIES TO BENEFITS OR WHATEVER. SO YOU SEE. I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER, LMAO. AND AFTER 70 % THEY WERE IN LOVE. YUP. SO GUESS WHAT, 30% WERE REMAINING WHICH MEANT NOTHING BUT A BREAK UP. TBH, I DIDN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND THE CHEMISTRY THEY HAD. A BREAK UP WHICH DIDN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE. THIRD ACT BREAK UP, HELLO? PLUS, A BLACKMAIL BARGED IN. MORE CLICHE THING. OH, GOD, I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE IT BECAUSE IT HAS THE PLUS SIZE REPRESENTATION BUT THE FMC, LOL. I NEVER TRUST BOOKSTAGRAM, AND I DID THIS TIME. *CRYING*
