As Miranda Craig launches her lifestyle blog, Loveladies Ennui, Drs. Mark and Tina Donahue of Palmer Industries are renting in the northern part of the island in High Bar Harbor, NJ with their team attempting to solve a problem with one of the materials they use in wound dressings and contact lenses. When Mark stumbles on a new use of the material they are studying, their little foray to solve a minor problem turns into a major environmental discovery.

The mystery in Loveladies Ennui isn’t designed to barge through the door. It seeps in. At first, it’s barely a ripple beneath the surface of an otherwise peaceful existence. The pacing reflects how real life often works. Tragedy doesn’t always announce itself with urgency. Curiosity builds long before certainty ever arrives. By the time Miranda begins to grasp what is happening, the reader has lived inside her normalcy long enough to understand just how disruptive those questions truly are.
