Very engrossing and the way mythology has been told is so gripping. I really could not put it down. I end up downloading the next one right after.these comics re just so addictive.
TIL that Mysore gets its name because the demon Mahisha lived there and so it was called "Mahisha" + "Ooru" which then became Mysore because the Brits found it hard to pronounce Mahishasooru.
Stories of Girl Power 💪
Learnt many stories that come up in Aigiri Nandhini song. Another rap song to uplift woman.
This book has stories of different avatars of Goddess Durga but I found it slightly short and few gaps in the story. Maybe it was mellowed down since the large reader base would be kids, but there could have been more stories added.
This one is part of Amar Chitra Katha series in the category, Epics & Mythology. This book deals with goddess Durga and stories related to her and other forms of Shakti.
300 years late but this is my first ACK aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! 4.5 ⭐️ this was very, very good. i love the art style too, it's reminds me of old school comics, so nostalgic. THE BOOK ITSELF WAS VERY GREAT, HELL YEAHHHH DURGA MAATE KILL THOSE EVIL, LOSER MEN ❤️ i love watching women murder men 10/10, would read it again.
Great way to teach our kids about our holy scriptures
These stories are taken from Durga Shaptsati. These are told in a simple way but when a kid knows a simple version, he or she will definitely become curious and will read the original scripture which is full of ancient wisdom.
It has the Hindu mythological story of Durga and how she kills the Asura Mahishasura. Also we have a story how Kali is known as Chamundi and how all Shakthis kill the Asura Shumbha. A good one time read who want to know about Indian Mythology.
Read this for a module on Hinduism + I know it's a 36-page comic book but I have been so bad at finishing books lately that any win is an honourable win.
The stories were crisp and they flowed well. The illustrations were good too. Jaya jaya he Mahishasura mardini ramyakapardini shailasute. A very good take on tales of durga.
A great comic suitable for younger readers. It does a nice job of introducing them to the tales of the Devimahatmya, even if it is a little vague on certain points. For instance, it merely says Kali prevented the cursed blood of Raktabeej from falling upon the earth...but not HOW she did it, lol. Given the amount of bloodshed in the rest of the comic...I think they could have said she swallowed the drops before they could strike the ground...
The book was good and it was good to see Shiva's consort Parvati in such a fierce form as Goddess Durga. I feel that the way Mahishasura met his end was very well deserved as he acted like he was the most powerful being on Earth because of the boon from Brahma. Overall it was a very good book.
