Tom Foster was Dead.
His teen soul hacks into the eternal database to find a handsome, troubled man about to take his own life. Tom borrows the large man’s mortal coil and returns to the living world.
With a second chance at life, the coder gains access to the eternal database. Through smart glasses, he can see everyone’s Scorecard floating above their heads. Positive numbers send folks to heaven. Negative numbers send sinners to hell. What happens when someone dies with a score of zero?
To design his own eternity, Tom must find a soul who died with a score of zero. If he can’t find one, he would have to make one.
With only seven days left on his Death Clock, Tom’s mission is to bank up enough good memories to enjoy in heaven, and score enough points to avoid hell.

For him, it's a memoir. Either way, here's our story.

Sometimes I cringed at how intense a few of the scenes were, but I was always drawn back to the heart and soul of the characters. No spoilers, but I will say, the author very cleverly ties in Covid and other real life events that have happened, in ways that make a lot of sense. Tom is a good guy and I was always wanting the best for him and his self made Scooby gang. Just read it. It is original and clever.
Oh, and... never trust Sam and you should be fine.

Unexpected. Thought provoking. Wow.
Highly entertaining and thought provoking. What does the afterlife look like? And can it be hacked? Can you get a second chance? I went through a gamut of emotions while reading this, cheering Tom Foster on the entire time. This will be a book I read more than once. Wonderful!

Captivating, fast, and tense.
I was drawn into this book immediately with its engaging, wonderfully eyebrow-raising context of a malleable afterlife. Fast-paced action is woven through a recogisably crazy world with plenty of surprises and twists and a compelling slap of cynicism. Overall, this was a captivating read.

OK this was a really cool idea. Definitely deviates from what I’m used to reading.
This is definitely not your average ghost story. Much more of an urban fantasy. However, after reading the author bio, it got even more interesting when he describes it as a ghost memoir. Lol

For a debut novel, Designing Hell: Ghost vs Angel is incredible. Pleased to know it’s book one and there is more to come. I absolutely loved the creative premise behind this love story. I was immediately invested in the main character.
