This contemporary satire on the madness that was Watergate has not aged well. Von Hoffman's wicked pen describes incidents that those who did not live through the period may not remember. What's worse, the rancor with which he describes the Nixon administration (though no doubt justifies) sometimes seems petty and snide. Fortunately, Gary Trudeau's illustrations still hold their magic.

Very reminiscent of the rambles of Hunter S Thompson, the Fireside Watergate is a romp through the deadly serious hijinx of that gang of idiots who thought subverting the Constitution was ok, if it was in a good cause...reelecting the president. A great period piece, but if you don't know the characters, you will be looking a lot of this information up!
