Slade Wilson is the best mercenary in the DCU, and he’s been doing this a long time. Some might say too long. But they’ll learn: never turn your back on Deathstroke the Terminator. He won’t quit, no matter how high the stakes.

This was part of an attempt to read all the #1 issues in DC's New 52 Relaunch.
Deathstroke is probably my favorite comic book anti-hero? Can he be considered that? He’s got his own comic series so… I don’t know; but this was a pretty good read. Slade’s agent gets him a gig working with this teen group that call themselves the The Alpha Dawgs, with a “w”. Kyle Higgins tries hard to make Slade as overpowered as possible going so far as to have him cut a fly in half with a paper clip. Now that’s the over the top comic book stuff I like to see, but at times it did feel like it was laid on pretty thick. But overall, it’s entertaining to see Slade outperforming everybody else on the team. There’s a cliffhanger as to what’s in a briefcase. And the ending is kind of grim and ruthless. I guess Rob Liefeld takes over in later issues, which may be a turn off for some, (maybe even for me). But I think I’ll find my way back to New 52 Deathstroke to see where he ends up.
