To be fair, I only read the first book in this collection, the Maltese Falcon. I read it at the recommendation of a fiction writing book I was reading. I really enjoyed this book. It's definitely a book from another time, a hard boiled detective novel, that is less than political correct at times, but oh my word. The descriptions of scenes and even people are poetic. The story is non-stop action. This is a page turner. It's the story of a treasure hunt with murder, intrigue and more. It's a mystery and a thriller all rolled up in one. A fun read.
