Working at a cat cafe seemed just her cup of tea... until a lethal blend of magic and murder brewed up trouble.
Novice witch Amber Eldritch is back in her hometown of Windsor, after her dream job as a London journalist turned into a nightmare. She’s hoping for a peaceful time, baking cakes and collecting antiques, but when a guest at her aunt’s cat café dies in the middle of lunch, the police claim murder, and Amber is a suspect!
Amber made the drinks, but she definitely didn’t add a fatal dose of poison, so who did? The wife? The business rival? Or perhaps the victim’s own son? Using a little magic and the investigative skills she honed at the newspaper, Amber sets about clearing her name.
She’s joined by her fat and fluffy cat familiar, the ghost of her senior-witch grandmother, and her childhood bestie. Oh yes, and there’s that handsome vampire policeman who broke Amber’s heart all those years ago. Amber thinks David Van Dante is such a pain in the neck! But can she resist his charms as she learns to heal her past and accept her witchy destiny?
With witty banter, unexpected twists, and a dash of romance to sink your teeth into—you’ll love this paranormal tale in Rosie Reed’s humorous Cat Café Magical Mystery series.

I really love reading Rosie Reed's English Village Witch book series and I'm pleased to say, judging by this book, this new series featuring novice witch Amber Eldritch is every bit as good!
I love that it's set in the town of Windsor too, not far from where I live, and Rosie makes good use of the Royal setting.
As you'd expect, this is a murder mystery in the best 'cozy' tradition, and the murder takes place at the start of the story at the cafe where Amber works. It's not clear what exactly killed the victim, but Amber is soon on the case - helped by her delightful 'familiar' talking cat with the adorable name of Marmalade Sandwich!
Local cop Dave Van Dante is less than impressed with Amber's sleuthing - although there is a spark between them that you'll find out more about when you read!
The story is packed with wonderful characters, suspects, red herrings and twists, with lots of fun to be had along the way. I loved the character of Bert the Bus - a magical talking bus whom I'm sure we'd all like to take a ride in around the streets of Windsor!
I had no idea who the killer was either, and the way they committed the murder was very unusual and clever. But will Amber be able to solve the dastardly deed?!
If you love paranormal cozies (or Rosie's other books too) you're sure to love this - jump aboard and see where the story takes you!
I laughed so hard reading this novel. I thought the heroine and her friends were entertaining and sweetly developed characters. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Oh wow!!! I just loved this story. First off it is a great continuation for the authors English village witch series and it even contains some of the characters that we have come to love. Both series works as a standalone but I think they will be even better when read together. This book is full of delightful characters from a bus with a mind of its own to a talking cat, even a quick witted Angel and of course the main character Amber and her hunky vampire boyfriend are just a dream team. The mystery was really good, lots of suspects, red herrings and mystery even over the motive. I had no clue who the killer was or why. The mystery does get wrapped up nicely but there is also a big picture/case that has me eagerly awaiting the next book. I hope I don't have to wait too long. For Amber after being fired as a reporter by her boyfriend the only thing to do is return to her home town and reconnect with her aunt. Returning home is never easy and it is even worse when your very first customer drops dead just after you serve him and the police man investigating the death is a sort of ex boyfriend, David Van Danté. Then she learns that her estranged grandmother has just died but she has no time to morn. Her grandmother s ghost wants her to use her reporter skill to investigate, the dead man's son has disappeared with her dog. Will Amber have to solve the murder in order to find the missing dog. Only if she finally embraces her witchy skills and learn to trust David Van Danté
An intriguing and superfun paranormal cozy with a refreshing setup and wonderful characters. It is genuinely funny and truly fine entertainment. Marmalade Sandwich is utterly adorable. Highly recommended!
Amber Eldrick left her friends and family in Windsor 10 years ago for a job in London now after a failed career as a tabloid journalist. What a crazy first day it is a death at her aunts tea shop a reunion with one hunky detective who happens to be a vampire yep the town of Windsor has allot going on the human and paranormal residents live side by side without humans knowing a thing but that's not Amber's only new suprise Marmalade Sandwich her cute kitten is all grown up and he's her familiar and he talks looks like she'll going to have and embrace that witchy heritage and solve a murder or 2 also her Grandmother's ghost has begged her to find her Corgi Collen but don't try and solve her murder but where will it all lead apparently the dog walker was the dead man's son oh my. Can Amber solve a the crime embrace new family get into allot of trouble with her bestfriend Harry and untangle her feelings about a failed Romance with David Van Donte.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Amber Eldrich is back in Windsor having been sacked from her journalism job in London. She is helping out at her Aunt Vicky’s cat cafe when someone suddenly dies. She also recognised one of the cats as Marmalade Sandwich who she last saw as a kitten. Amber does not want to use her witchy powers, but, she has to learn them because her Grandmother’s ghost tells her to. Grandmother also left her a lovely cottage to live in. One thing she’s not too happy about is that David van Dante is now a detective & working on the case of the death in the cafe. Of course Amber gets caught up with magic & detecting. Another enjoyable read in this new branch of the Eldrich clan’s saga.
After being fired from her dream job in London Novice Witch Amber is back in her hometown Windsor. One day at lunch a guest at her aunts Cat Cafe dies and Amber is blamed because she served the drinks. David Van Dante is still in Windsor he is the man she left behind but happened and he broke her heart by being a vampire and stealing her dreams of her perfect man. Now she needs his help along with her bestie and her familiar fluffy Cat Marmalade Sandwich yes that is his name hehe, and her grandmother's ghost. To solve this murder and get out of the hot seat so to speak.
I enjoyed the story and will be sure to read the next one. As one who never out grew the clumbsy age, I can definitely relate to Amber. Poor Amber. Fired, dumped and back at her grandmother's cottage, trying to be a waitress at thr Cat Cafe, she runs into her high school heart throb, a detective investigating a muder at the cafe. Suspects abound. Motives are found but opportunity is missing. There's plenty of humor and a surprise ending.
This was an absolutely delightful mystery! I love the characters who are so deliciously different from each other that they work well. Amber is my inner spirit, I swear! From what she says: “If it’s a severed head, I shall be very upset” to her whole fiasco involving the mud puddle outside Hyacinth’s B & B! BTW Marmalade Sandwich is an awesome name for an orange tabby! I had so much fun reading this book and I am looking forward to the next one!
I quite like this new series by Rosie Reed that was suggested to me. A magical book with hunky vampires, talking cat familiars, and a bumbling novice witch. Amber is a great character, as is the hunky vampire sergeant, David Van Danté. I quite like Harry the angel, too. He is a hoot. It was a good story that was a lot of fun to read. I will definitely be reading more from Ms. Reed.
Rosie Reed’s books are so heartwarming and humorous they genuinely feel like a hug in a book! Full of intrigue and mystery they are a wonderful read full of laugh out loud humour and contrary familiars. Cannot wait for the next book in the series to be published!
Plus dogs, ghosts, and the ever present British tea are enclosed for your reading delight. Oh, and burgeoning romance complicated by murder in a public venue. A light read with interesting characters.
Great story with many twists and turns. Of course a couple of murders, but a missing dog. A ghostly grandma and a dishy Vampire. A plot to sort for the novice witch........highly recommend.
Amber Eldritch left Windsor a decade ago after the death of her parents as a child, and later, the loss of her relationship. Now she's back in Windsor after the loss of her job as a reporter. She was fired after her editor boyfriend broke up with her. Now she's a waitress at her cousins teashop which has a selection of cats sitting around in different places. When one of the guest drops dead at one of her booths, she runs into her former boyfriend again. Apparently he also has returned to Windsor. Now he is an investigator with the local police and Amber is being drawn into an investigation as the death may not be from natural causes.
Developed characters, a good plotline, and some comic relief from an angel and his semi-sentient bus.
I'd first met David 10 years ago, when we solved a murder together. I should have known he was trouble when I found him crouched over a dead body, but somehow I'd let him convince me to lie to the police for him - to give him an alibi.
Hell no. Why is this a thing? I hate the whole "abusive man gets his way because he's cute" thing. Okay? Murder?? Why would you lie and alibi someone? Mon Dieu. DNF 6%
Oh and two uses of the slur for Roma, as previously noted on the progress comment, to describe a blouse.
There's likely a lot more wrong but I'm not sticking around to find out, cute cats or no.
A Fun Paranormal MysteryNovice witch Amber Eldritch is back in her hometown of Windsor, after her dream job as a London journalist turned into a nightmare. She’s hoping for a peaceful time, baking cakes and collecting antiques, but when a guest at her aunt’s cat café dies in the middle of lunch, the police claim murder, and Amber is a suspect! This is a fun book which is a paranormal mystery. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
Teacup and Sorcery is the 1st in the Cat Cafe Magical Mystery by Rosie Reed in which Amber Eldritch returns home to Windsor after being fired and being dump by her boyfriend. Beings of Magic is part of Amber along with her best friend, Harry an angel! Amber receives her dead grandmother's wand. With two murders, a mising dog, and Amber's ex the vampire is back! Hoefully her being a novice witch won't get in the way of Amber and Marmalade Sandwich, her familier are hot the trail to find two killer and her grandmother's dog!
This is a wonderful magical read in the world of tea and cake, where we discover and uncover a murder, but with magic everywhere. As the story unfolds you will find yourself lost in the characters. It's funny and heartwarming, and has such wonderful description, that you feel as though you are inside the story. Its just a real 'feel good' story to read. I read it on holiday and it was just perfect.
I enjoyed this mystery. I like the plot and characters. There are plenty of suspects and possible motives. I thought the auction was too cliche. There is humor. The plot kept me guessing who the murderer was. There are surprises.
After reading the prequel I was so excited to read this book. It did not disappoint. Loved the characters and the story line. Can't wait for the next one!
What a fun book!. A novice witch, a sweet familiar, a cat cafe, ghosts, murder mystery and romantic tension with a vampire. I loved it and look forward to the next book.
I must have finished this book as I have started another one, but for the life of me I cannot remember finishing it or who committed the murder (so it is obviously not riveting).
