Before the British TV series 'Last of the Summer Wine' two 'novels' were written by Roy Clarke as 'A Summer Wine Chronicle'. The first, 'Gala Week' which is most enjoyable and the second 'The Moonbather' is also a great treat. These two books are pure Roy Clarke sans the edited for TV version of Last of the Summer Wine. This said, they are purely fun and nothing but. If you can find the books-on-tape version of either of these books you will find that they are read by Peter Sallis (alias Clegg in TV's Last of the Summer Wine) a true treat in their own right.
