The echoes of the betrayal continue to rumble throughout Veritas. Weeding out the rot is no simple task. Not when the roots of secrets and lies run so deep that they infect every part of the organisation.
There are other matters of greater need, and time is running out. Covenants of tower and clan must be met, and Lucinda must raise her last tower to complete her ascension pact to the great Mother. That is if the trinity can survive long enough to find it.
Powerful, dark forces conspire against them to thwart their plans. They must face their deadliest foe yet. If the Trinity fails, it will plunge the world and all of existence, into eternal darkness.
Nita Round is a British author who creates vibrant and unique new worlds as quirky as she is. She takes inspiration from her studies of history and blends together ‘what was’ and creates fantastical worlds, ‘what could be’.
Monsters, heroines, magic, and the strange are all woven into tales of hope and courage. Where women battle evil, something with nothing more than a stout heart, and no matter the odds, ultimately prevail.

I love Nita Round’s writing. Her research is always on point and her story telling skills are amazing. We see the plot moving along in this book and we get to experience the power of the trinity against a Kraken. New clans are introduced and we see the power of the “Onara”. What a nail biting read this book was. Can’t wait to read the next one
In A Touch of Unity, the trio goes up against those infected by the purple (see previous book A Touch of Purple) and the enemy controlling the infected. But before the big battle scene, the trio will travel to the location the ruins of a tower. The raising of that tower brings a new tribe. Are they friends or enemies?
This book had a slow start for me because I found it hard to recall the details of previous books and the author did not provide enough particulars in the first couple of chapters. Eventually everything fell into place, but I read the first 30 pages twice just to help jar my memory. After that, the story took off!
The events leading up to the big battle scene add to the overall story arc and further develop the three main characters. This aspect of the writing of this series makes me want to keep reading it. I never know where the series will go next!
From the beginning of this series, the plot has expanded. Each book has a layer of suspense, a layer of intrigue and a layer of conflict. Wrapped around these tiers is the Trinity – Lucinda, Magda and Ascara. As main characters they each drive the story with their own strengths and talents as well as their own weaknesses.
Lucinda, Magda and Ascara are the reason I like this series. The characters are smart and strong with a sense of humor and love for each other. The each come with their own life experiences and culture to add to the story. I also really like the airship Verity – which has gotten some upgrades for this story. You just can’t go wrong with an airship in the story.
Thanks to the author who provided a copy of this book. My review is my honest opinion.
Wow! This is another thrilling installment in this series. Magda, Ascara, and Lucinda make their way to a new location where they find another of the clans that Ascara belongs to. That brings its own issues because this clan is not thrilled about the idea of reuniting with the other clans, and they have good reason. It was interesting to see how their perspective contrasted with Ascara’s. I liked getting the opposing viewpoints.
The Trinity also find another tower while there; it’s old and uncomfortable in more ways than one. I think this is an existing old tower, but Lucinda helps raise a new one, expecting a young clanswoman to become the keeper. That’s an interesting storyline all by itself, with several twists, introducing us to a new tower keeper as well as all these new people.
Then, just to keep things interesting, the krakens attack which creates problems for Ascara and her abilities and alliances. And even better, Evie and Hester are along for the ride (so to speak). I was longing for them to meet up with the Trinity when I read the previous novel, so that made me a happy reader!
This series keeps racing along, providing a lot of heart pounding scenes and tender moments, too.
Great and intricate world building, interesting characters both main and minor, indeed this series has all the elements of a prizewinning epic … and yet it doesn’t quite hit the target.
Each book builds tension and expectation of a culminating conflict, and again and again that is oversell of an underwhelming event. I’m fairly certain that book seven completes the series, but the grand, last battle to save the world, doesn’t even conclusively kill the big-bad.
Frustrating though this may be, I almost hope there is a book eight. There’s enough unresolved, and the elements are so good, that I would eagerly dive in again to see if this time the author can stick her landing.
I have been waiting for this one. Totally worth it to have Magda Ascara and Lucinda united and saving the world in their own special way. The world Nita Round has built is vibrant and complete with touches of the familiar but a special unique vibe
