It wasn't until the hard work of an innocent reporter unearther the guilty details of her life outside the bench... The judge had a slew of secrets; the reporter had a job to do. Something had to give...find out what it was.
I'm excited to read this book, as I picked it up at a local Arts Fair, from the author himself. He's born and raised in Michigan, and so far, much of the book touches on Michigander familiarities.
**Update...3.5 stars goes to the Michigan writer for keeping me interested in a mystery!
Pretty good read. Kept me interested. I liked the story, though some of the coincidental happenings made it a bit unrealistic at times. Being a Michigander, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about some of the state’s more obscure local history, especially about the oil industry and the PBB Crisis. Also always nice to know many of the towns and localities the characters visit. It is a good commentary on the corruption of not only big business, but also media and authorities, from politics to police to the justice system, and how they all intertwine. The grey area that exists between morality and legality. Very relevant today in the 2020s. I felt like many of the characters were a little too cliché, and the sex scenes were unbearably cringe-y, which had me skimming over the (too many) pages they took up. Still, there was enough intrigue and thrill in the story itself to keep me wondering what was going to happen, and the ending, though somewhat predictable, was satisfying and didn’t leave many unanswered questions. All in all, a mostly enjoyable read. Would recommend.
