One kiss and you'll fall forever.

One week before Christmas, Emma Belmont’s life has fallen apart. With no job and no apartment, the final straw is her car breaking down in the small town of Lake Holly. She’s stuck in a quaint coffee shop packed with people demanding a mysterious mistletoe latte. But every time someone orders it, the grumpy owner tosses them out the door.

Nick Iverson’s struggled for years running his cafe and raising his fourteen-year-old niece single-handedly. When out-of-towners begin demanding the mistletoe latte old wounds rip open. He’s about to lose it in front of the Instagram crowd. Lucky for Nick, an angel is in his cafe that day.

After hiring Emma for a day, the sunny girl easily slots into his dour life. The customers are happy, the tip jar is stuffed, no one’s asking for that damn latte. And her smile makes Nick’s dead heart flutter in his desiccated chest. He needs Emma to make it through the holidays, but the closer he gets the deeper he’s falling. How can he risk opening himself up again to a woman who’s only staying for a week?

Emma’s dream of being a world-famous dessert chef cannot take hold in a tiny coffee shop in a cute small town. She knows that as deeply as she knows every glance of Nick’s hand makes her lips ache for his. What can she do when her dreams are pulling her in two different directions?

They say that with one kiss of the mistletoe latte, you’ll fall in love forever. But can that be true with two people whose lives are meant to be miles apart?

The best way to describe this book is: Imagine a cozy small town Christmas season romcom from Hallmark but add in a bunch of smut.

Emma is on her way to her sister, driving on the highway when she has car trouble. She has to leave the highway and ends up in a small town.

While she waits for the mechanics to take a look at her car, she goes to a coffee shop and meets Nick, the owner. The coffee shop is packed and Nick could use some help. So Emma puts an apron on and helps him.

Turns out the mechanics will need days to fix her car and she is stuck in this town. She will keep working in the coffee shop helping Nick and they will inevitably fall in love.

Add a bit of smut and heart and you have yourself a cozy Christmas romcom.

Ellen Mint's novel "Mistletoe Latte" takes the reader on an enchanting journey through the story of Emma and Nick in a small-town café. The book masterfully combines Christmas cheer and romantic suspense, while gently highlighting the importance of human relationships and unexpected plot twists in our lives.

The story begins with perhaps one of the worst days of the heroine's life. Emma, with no job and no apartment, is on her way to her sister's house when her car breaks down in a small town called Lake Holly. That's how she meets Nick, the grumpy owner of a cozy coffee shop, and his niece Skylar. As usually happens in life, it's a game of chance and human kindness that leads to those crucial encounters that can change your life forever.

Nick's small-town coffee shop is, for some mysterious reason, overrun with influencers looking for a coffee that Nick hasn't made in years and doesn't intend to make any time soon. Emma, who can sense the pressure being put on Nick, feels that during her time at the café, she can help in some way. So it happens that while her car is at the mechanic's, she not only helps Nick make coffee and clean up, but also tries to use her smile and kindness to smooth out his slightly harsh manner.

The real strength of the novel lies in its well-developed characters. The story of Emma and Nick is not just a simple romantic tale, but also explores much deeper human emotions and issues. They are both very relatable characters with real flaws and past scars. The honest dialogues and the chemistry between the characters are so powerful that the reader becomes part of the plot, as if they were sitting in the warmth of a café sipping a mistletoe latte.

Another highlight of the book is the chemistry between the two protagonists. Emma is forced to stay at Nick's house, as all the hotels in the small town are booked with the holidays approaching. The time spent under one roof greatly benefits the gradual yet intense growth of Emma and Nick's relationship. The awkward situations and the moments together when the air almost sparkles between them both contribute to the reader's absolute engagement with the story.

The small-town setting and the approach of Christmas create a special atmosphere for the novel. Ellen Mint captures the unique charm that only the Christmas season and the magic of small communities can create. Set in Lake Holly, the story is like a warm blanket on a cold winter's night.

Mistletoe Latte is not only a romantic novel, but also a reminder that life sometimes offers the greatest gifts at the most unexpected moments. Ellen Mint's story touches the reader's heart deeply and reminds us to never lose hope, even in the most difficult times. This book is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to bring a little magic and love into their lives, especially during the Christmas season.

This one is probably more 2.5 but it is what it is.

Writing is great. Story is a little unbelievably perfect but I'm okay suspending belief for little things, especially holiday romance.

What I didn't like? The niece was a piece of work. I get that writing teens can be difficult but her banter wasn't the cute, hilarious repartee that the author was going for. It was fucking disrespectful how often she bailed and left her uncle with a sassy backhand comment on her way out the door.

The kink came out of nowhere. It was spicy and sexy and great BUT it didn't fit. At no point reading a holiday romcom did I expect that inclusion of BDSM. And if it did, having 1 sex scene in the whole novel was lame. If you're going to go that direction, at least include a few spicy scenes. But to only have one and to have it be non vanilla just didn't fit.

ALSO, and this was a BIG ICK for me, the way he seamlessly introduced her to the scene was... too smooth. He lives with a teen but has an unlocked box of toys in the middle of his bedroom? That's parenting 101: Not a chance. And the way he had the bed Hooks set up already? I mean... they just met 2 days ago so you know he didn't order and set this all up on the off chance she would like it. Meaning... this was all used for someone else. On someone else's body. Ick. Huge fucking ick. Of course it isn't mentioned but we're all picturing his long time ex.

And when said ex makes her mandatory reappearance, the fact that he considered picking her out of habit or lack of effort is ANOTHER BIG ICK. I wonder if she'll make him buy new toys to replace the ones he used on another woman? Except we don't need to find out because he smartens up. Or the sassy teen from earlier smartens him up. I guess she isn't as annoying as I thought.

I need to stop before I convince myself to lower the rating even more.

Cute, and though it has its issues, I'm ignoring them in favor of how sweet and Hallmark-y this was.

I did like the teen and her attitude; I thought she was funny and snarky but with a small little gooey center. I do wish that gooey center were shown a tad bit more to better balance out the extreme amounts of snark, but overall I liked her and how consistent she was in the book.

I liked how much of a grump the Nick was, but I still refuse to believe he's a blond. And I'm steadfastly ignoring the cover because the only person with hair that bright is Gunther from Friends. He did have some moments that were a bit of an ick for me (the kink came out of nowhere and I have no idea how he was... prepared for it, so thinking about it already being there was... not a good feeling, and he was ready to get back with his ex just because she happened to be there. It could have been a throwaway line but... still.)

Sure, there were some parts that I do kind of want to ignore. Mostly just the spicy scenes because they got more and more awkward as the book went on, but for the most part the rest was good. Despite being what is classified as an instalove, the pacing was just slow enough it wasn't boring but didn't feel like they rushed into a romance.

- Small town
- Grumpy/sunshine
- Coffee shop meet cute

I absolutely love a grumpy MMC - the grumpier, the better! Nick exceeded my expectations with his hilarious grumpiness.

When an influencer posts about the famous Mistletoe Latte that Nick's coffee shop, Brew 4 U, makes (last one made was five years ago - it's a sore topic), his store is overrrun with people wanting to get the first latte of the year. Legend has it, if you drink a Mistletoe Latte, the next person you kiss is your true love. Nick has given up on love, so he doesn't want to make any Mistletoe Lattes!

Emma is unexpectedly stuck in town when her car breaks down. She has just lost her job and apartment and is on her way to live with her sister in Maine. The parts needed to fix her car won't be in for a week. She finds the Brew 4 U cafe to warm up while she makes a plan. The cafe is very busy and the owner is the only one working, so Emma offers to help out.

Nick is so attracted to Emma, whom he calls Cream and Sugar, but with raising his teenaged niece, he is wary of opening himself up for potential disappointment for someone who is just passing through...

Cute and a bit spicier than I expected, this book is an absolute gem for the holidays!

Thia was a nice and cozy holiday romcom and was a very entertaining read. Emma has been down on her luck lately, and things only get worse when she ends up in the small town of Lake Holly for Christmas after her car breaks down on her way to her sister's. She decides to spend the time in a coffee shop when the mechanics are checking out her car, and she meets the owner, Nick, who is swamped and could use some help. Emma offers to pitch in and when she finds out her car will need a few days to get fixed, she continues to help the grumpy Nick out. Nick comes under pressure to make something he used to make years ago, famed to have helped people find true love, but he doesn't want to do it because he doesn't believe in love anymore. But Emma's presence in his life and getting to know her just might change his views.
I really liked the small town setting, everything is always so much more intimate and cozy! Nick and Emma were absolutely wonderful together and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. Definitely had a lot of spice, but also had a lot of heart.

A fun sweet and steamy small town romance!
I loved Emma! She was such a sweet character and she was totally relatable. Her car breaks down in a small Michigan town, so she takes temporary (or maybe not so temporary...) refuge in a cafe until her car can get fixed. Nick is a bit of a grump and rather annoyed that people, especially tourists, keep asking for the mistletoe latte. Nick is a good character; he's doing his best raising his teenage niece and run a cafe.
There's some light angst between Nick and Emma (and it's honestly pretty adorable, but at times you really just want them to speak!).
One thing I really liked was the Skylar was an average teenager, she wasn't an old soul pretending to be a kind, but a full blown 14 year old doing her best to navigate hormones and high school.
All in all, it's a fun, light hearted read with great characters and a slow burn steamy romance.

There's swearing, steamy, and some light kink in the story.

overall cute story

This was overall a cute sunshine/grumpy hero story. An uncle raising a sassy 14 yo niece while running a bare bones coffee shop. A Scrooge barista. In walks a dropout chef with a broken down car. Lots of chemistry and instalove. I wanted to love this story to a 5* review, but I’m not a fan of instalove and the mc’s were a bit too old (27 and 35) for the constant blushing and startling. The author needed to tone down the constant blushing, it got way too repetitive and you could make a drinking game from the constant references on every page. We get it, she blushes every single time she is around Nick. And she would drop something, fall, trip, rattle her spoon (while blushing) every time she saw him. They work together, so give it a rest! Sorry for the rant. The book imo would have been better with less of that. Overall a cute story that ties up plot points by the end for a cute HEA.

Emma Belmont’s life is down the pan. No job , no apartment , then her car breaks down in a town called Lake Holly. When she finds herself in a quaint coffee shop complete with grumpy Nick and his sassy fourteen year old niece, things heat up , starting with the Mistletoe Latte that keeps get tourists slung out on their ear, to the endearing lost soul who she takes charge of the coffee and the tips roll in when she is hired . The steam doesn’t stop at the barista station either but Emma has dreams that don’t include working in a coffee shop after the weeks out and Nick , well he's falling but this is his life and is he looking for a wife… Two different paths crossed but are they just to be star-crossed lovers or lost at sea. Now what about that kiss from a Mistletoe Latte?… Christmas time story that’s an entertaining , compelling read
I read an advance of this book and my review is voluntary given

Thank you to HiddenGemsBooks for this ARC.

What a surprise!

When Emma’s car breaks down, she stumbles into a coffee shop in a small village and meets the gruffy owner Nick. She spends a week there while her car is being fixed, learning about the story of the mistletoe latte and the owner himself.

Just when I was ready to give up on contemporary romance thinking it’s definitely not for me, this book came and swiped me off my feet. It’s so cosy, like a warm hug and a lovely story that I can see happening in real life. I was expecting sweet romance (which it definitely was) but was delightfully surprised with a couple of spicier scenes. Full of grumpy sunshine, festive cheer and, well, coffee. Definitely pick this one up this December!

This was an enjoyable Christmas Season feel-good romance story that's about a grumpy café owner, Nick Iverson who is single handed raising his fourteen-year-old niece, Skylar and Emma Belmont who is on her last straw when her car broke down in the quaint town of Lake Holly decides to get a cup of joe. Waiting through the line of customers wanting the Mistletoe Latte which appears to make the owner mad. After being served more customers enter and she starts to help which Nick hires her for the day. What occurs is a cute delightful romantic story I enjoyed reading in this copy I'd received and volunteer to review.

This cute, feel good Christmas story is the first time I’ve read anything from this author and overall it’s a very entertaining and enjoyable story. The first third of the book I found quite chaotic and had trouble following which character the story was following at the time. However, the main characters are fun and interact well. Something I found annoying though, is that things happened for which we’re not given any explanation. Emma lost her job, we’re not told why. Emma’s roommates kick her out, we’re not told why. Something happens towards the end and we’re not given any explanation. These may only be small things, but they help to bring depth to the story and characters.

This is such a great read! It has something for everyone…and I suggest you have a long, cool drink and a box of tissues handy as you devour this great little read. The storyline is awesome; the characters well developed; the plot twists and turns were really something; and the HEA was so amazing…you definitely need to read this book!

I loved the book! So I gave this book 4 stars in the beginning. I never give a book 5 stars unless I re-read it a few times. And, tbh. at that time it also felt 4 stars was fitting. Howver, find myself having read this book for the fourth time now, and although I still think 4 stars might be fitting, I give it 5 just not to break with my own rules. There IS something about this book that I love whic made me return! Again. And again. And again. So yea. Five stars!

Emma and Nick both have issues going on in their lives. He runs a coffee shop but is struggling. Right when he is about to go off Emma comes in and saves the day. He hires her for the week and in doing so his heart begins to open. She has plans of being a world's famous pastry chef something she believes can't happen in a small town. Will these two find a common ground that leads them to happiness.

I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of this book and I absolutely loved it. It has everything I enjoy. Coffee ✅ grumpy MMC ✅ forced proximity ✅ Emma is just trying to live her best life and Nick is so not having any part of the holidays. Through the book their non relationship somehow turns into something more and I’m living for every moment of it! There is a bit of spice in it, but it is not too over the top at all and adds depth to the story in my opinion.

Emma has lost her job, apartment and her dream, then to top it off her car breaks down in a tiny out of the way town. Nick is a coffee shop owner with a very grumpy attitude. Desperation brings them together but Christmas begins to bring the spirit and hope back to both of them. Throw in a sassy, angsty teen and you’ve got an awesome story. Cute, steamy, fun, flirty and with a sweet HEA.

A sweet and sexy story of a down on her luck lady who meets up with a grouchy hot guy. Of course the story's set now! Nice Christmas story with the sweet girl changing the grouchy guy and happily ever after. Of course, there's more to the story but you'll have to read it to find out! I really enjoyed this story and am sure you will too.

Good Story

Emma's car brakes down, and she is at this coffee shop and sees that the owner Nick could really use some help, so she pitches in, and their relationship just grows from there. Emma's poor treatment by her family was brought up but never dealt with, and I wish it would have been.
