Still not sure what to make of it. But I was interested throughout and there was some nice prose.
“Thelma wears a gingham sunbonnet made from the fabric of a chicken feed sack. Its brim, stiffened with homegrown broom corn, shades her eyes from the low-angled sun, which is about to disappear behind the moaning thunderheads. Her yellow hair falls out of the bonnet and flows over her shoulders, which are bare, except for the straps of a sun dress she wears.”
