This is the story of Diane Ellingson Smith, former Jr. Olympic National Champion gymnast and three-time All American, who found her life shattered at the apex of her career by an untimely accident. She had every reason in the world to give into anger, despair and self-pity. Instead, she found the courage to do what we must all do in life's hardest moments - refuse to give up. This book will inspire you to discover your own personal courage when you need it most.
I actually knew Diane. I would go to her house when I was little. When she passed away, her husband gave her book to everyone at her funeral. So sad about her passing, but I'm glad I got to read about her amazing story. I would definitely recommend for all kinds of readers!
This is an inspirational story, written for young readers. Don't you Dare Give up is a true story about Dian who is a gymnast. This is one of the only books I ever read between the ages of 13-18, that says a lot. I used to hate reading. I cried at the ending of this book.
loved this book!! This was my 4th grade teacher in Elm school. My mom found this book years ago and gave it to me. It made me relise all she went through to be my teacher. And all that she still goes through daily, physical and mentail.
I read this book to Bianca. I've had it since I was a kid and I don't think I ever finished it until now--my book mark was still about two-thirds through the book from my teenage years. Although the writing is subpar, the story is a good one with a good message.
She is inspirational. Diane was my 3rd grade teacher, and I got to both read this, and hear the words from her own mouth. She is a lovely and inspiring woman and the book is the same.
