OKAAYYYY!!!! This was so freaking good!!!!! The mental health rep, PTSD, self harm, depression… all of it was so well portrayed!!! And the plot!!!! I’m so damned intrigued and invested, I was messaging the author as early as 10% in, sharing theories and thoughts and predictions and all of the things and kept messaging all the way through the ending!!!!! And the ending!!!!! Mind blown did not see that coming!!! Can’t wait for book two!!! Can’t recommend enough if shifter romance is your jam!!

My little mate may think she’s broken, but I see the hidden strength and light beneath the pain, and I’ll snuff out anyone who tries to keep it from shining through. The light that wants to shine needs darkness; I’ll be that for her.

Escaping Darkness is a sweet, fast-paced, but slow-burn romance! It is such an enjoyable read - uplifting and light. The men are all-in from the get-go and lavish their mate with affection and supportive love. While the relationship is sweet, the plot has some heavy elements, including mental health struggles and the loss of family.

I loved the concept of a bunny shifter being fated mates with a family of wolf shifters. I am a massive fan of their growly possessiveness and the drive to protect their little mate. It makes for some very hot dirty talk as they embrace their big bad wolf personas. They love the chase.

This book is slow-burn. The FMC is a virgin, and there is no push to change that status. Instead, her mates are cautious never to push her too far, though a good amount of pleasure is still explored.

Escaping Darkness ends at a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book two.

I recommend this series for those readers who are looking for unusual fated mates pairings. And a sweeter romance.

Genre: Paranormal Romance

5⭐️ 1🌶️

I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. It grabbed my attention from the blurb and did not release it until the cliffhanger.

It starts off with Lily going to her new house after living at the Shifters Protection Program facility for about two years. While getting settles in, she starts to meet the brothers that are her new neighbors. Thorn, Rowe, Sylvin and Maddox are all wolf shifters and are instantly drawn to her. She is wary of them because they are wolf shifters but she also cannot deny that she feels safe with them.

I loved the entire journey of Lily getting to know the guys together and individually. They each are so different but they way they treat her made my heart swoon. I can say that Rowe is my absolute favorite so far and I probably highlighted almost half of his quotes.

This book involves topics of mental health and the way the brothers help Lily was done wonderfully, in my opinion.

Reading the FMC saying that her rabbit (she's a rabbit shifter) is a "hussy", "offering hersleves on a silver platter to the wolves", "purring", made me felt less and less connected with her. I didn't buy at all this romance between the big bad wolves and the tiny bunny... Just a way to write down bad jokes😅🙄
So sad, the plot sounded interesting...

Choppy, broken flow

This wasn't well plotted out. A lot of things didn't line up or make sense. You get over 85% through the book before they even begin to question why their parents were killed. They're agents but they aren't given any information on the case they're supposed to protect? They don't actually ever post a guard. Four of them and there's no rotation to keep a watch on her house, or theirs when hers becomes unsafe. Not that they push her to stay there, either, even though safety in numbers and all. Her 1st move to anything past kissing (not that she actually makes any move to kiss, hold hands, or any other courtship behavior) and she's getting frisky with 2 brothers at the gym where anyone could walk in? It takes over 75% through the story before they explain why they trust 1 character when they suspect his father. They knew, they just never explained anything to her. They treat her like a mushroom. Not that she ever really asks questions. And she responds in shouted sobs instead of a realistic tone of voice. They don't use false names, odd for people in hiding. They don't have a backup plan in case they are found. There are no safe houses mentioned. I don't understand how this SPP is run. They're all packed into 1 facility? It wasn't mentioned as secure. The guys don't work with her but once on protecting herself. The guys are supposed to be agents, they suspect someone inside the agency is corrupt, they know that their location is known, they stay there and don't. Make. Any. Plans. They depend on only 1 souce for information? Like I said, there were a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies. And we won't discuss the editing issues. That's a whole other mess.

I’m torn on how to rate this, honestly.

I genuinely loved the plot and these characters, but the writing and some chapters felt a little all over the place.

The pacing was inconsistent, and I couldn’t get a good time frame on anything. Has it been a couple weeks that she’s known them or has it been months by the end of the book? 🤔

There was a lot of repeating happening as well and a smidgen overuse of names/pet names during the dialogue. I honestly started cringing a little when I read ‘little muse’ by the end, he just said it so much that it lost its cuteness.

This was a decent size book yet I feel like we don’t know much about the characters outside of their families deaths, so I’m hoping for that to change in book two which I will 100% be reading!

This has a lot of potential, so I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

The overall storyline of this book was pretty good with an ending that definitely left me intrigued ... However ... The writing just wasn't there for me. The book almost felt like an outline without enough context to make the emotions and relationships believable. I think the author tried to get around this by making the characters "fated mates", but even that wasnt believable. Like the mmc's we're obsessed with our heroine, but the pull wasn't there. (Jmo) The dialogue also felt clunky for the most part and not how people would really talk to one another. The flashbacks (usually not a fav) were the most believable part of this book. However, I did like the the almost crazy obsessiveness of some of the mmc's (but I've seen it done better).

Story: 4/5 stars
Writing: 2/5 stars

bunny shifter with her wolf mates

Lily family is murdered and she is placed with S.P.P. Two years later she is moved to a home next to four brothers two of which are sleeper agents. Thorn the oldest, Rowe and the twins Maddox and Sylvin. It becomes more then just an assignment when they realize that she is their mate.

This was a great beginning to Lily and her mates story. Great character building and all the additional players involved. I didn’t see Julia factoring in the way she did at the end. The cliffhanger isn’t brutal but I can’t wait for more.

I also loved that she is a bunny and they are her fierce wolf mates. This is not a traditional PNR loved that! I was invested from the beginning to end and finished this book in a few hours. Told in MPOV.

10 stars is more appropriate for Escaping Darkness. A wonderfully put together story of Lill the Bunny shifter and her four wolf mates. They have lost so much, separately but by the same hands. The boys need to keep their mate safe from the wrong people at the S.P.P. T.A. Note made me, laugh, cry, angry and all the feels in between. A well put together story that ends with a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book to see what's going to happen next.
I'm so excited!!!

Amazing start to a new series! I really did enjoy the new love and the emotions from the characters. They have all been through some things and are definitely not ok they don’t just bounce back and I like how they show true emotion. And the fmc meets her mates(love those weird o’s lol) I truly can’t wait to see what happens next. 10/10 recommend.

Enjoyed this book! It was sweet and moved fast. It's a slow burn with some dark elements. There are quite a few triggers, so be sure to check those out. There isn't a lot of spice, but it's still a great story with lots of possibilities. It ends on a crazy cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to read the next book!

Oh wow. I loved this book! Psychotic, over protective and sexy wolf shifters? An absolute adorable bunny? And shifting throughout the book! Yes yes and more yes. And a plot that just deepened. I don’t know how I’ll be able to wait. That cliffhanger!

Since I first heard of T. A.s new book and read the blurb, I've been looking forward to this book. I got it a couple of days ago and had I had the time, I would have read it in one sitting.

It is dark and yet sweet, with a lot going on and yet very slow burn. It's a really good mixture for a great beginning of a new series.

The series is about Lily, a bunny shifter, who lost her family to a wolf shifter attack. She gets put into SPP, a supernatural protection facility for a while and once she's 18, she's put in a house next door to some sleeper agents to protect her, who are also wolfs. Understandably, she's very weary of them at first, if it weren't for this weird feeling on safety when they're around...

Like I said, the story is very slow burn, so nothing "major" happens in the smut category, but it's just a very sweet development of relationships and getting to know one another while learning about the other persons feelings, pasts and triggers (please do read the list, before you dive in).

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the story and if you like shifters and romance and secret agencies, you should definitely give it a try, as well!

❤️‍🔥I have no words to describe this masterpiece of a book❤️‍🔥
The author truly outdid herself and presented us with a lovely heroine named Lily who is a bunny shifter and went through hell and survived. Her mates are wolves who would do anything for her. Maddox, Sylvin, Rowe and Thorn also went through a similar experience as Lily yet they all had each other whereas Lily had no one.
I truly loved how Rowe (being the beautiful yet psycho one) used art the express his emotions and how Lily also relates to expressing her emotions through art.
I loved the description each character gave when they first saw each other💖
The fact that Julia was the one who put them together made my heart sing 🪽💖
But THE CLIFFHANGER!!! WHY!!!! I FREAKING KNEW IT!!!
I suspected….
Like 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I devoured this book in a day and now I must wait 😭😭😭😭😭
Truly captivating story and we also see everyone’s demons🥹💖

I enjoyed this book and the different personalities of the guys. I feel like we could get to know them more and there could be more added to their time getting to know each other as well. The mystery aspect was definitely a page turning addiction. I can’t wait to see what happens in book two!

As a “baby” author, this book isn't too bad but it's not great either. In most shifter books, when a mate is prey and the others (or the one other) is a predator (wolf, bear, dragon, etc) the prey mate is often bullied, looked down upon, or rejected. But this author took a different route; the MMC's didn't care that the FMC is a bunny. In fact, they praise the FMC for acknowledging when her bunny side needs something.

The book has no intimate moments, but it would have been disingenuous to have the FMC meet and sleep with her mates in a matter of a week (like other books) due to the trauma she has experienced.

Escaping Darkness has major issues. First, Amazon has the book listed at 222 pages. However, with all of the unnecessary pictures, white space, and large typeset the book probably comes in at around 195-200 pages. Second, the author made some incredibly awkward choices in terms of plot development. Some scenes were there just to make it look like everyone was going on dates without anything coming from it. For example, everyone goes to an art gallery showing. Yet, no one talks about the aftermath of the showing. Did it receive good reviews? Did they meet important people? Did they actually hang up the paintings? No follow-up to a lot of the scenes.

Take note that the plot doesn't actually develop until the 60% mark. That's when communication starts to happen and pieces start to fall into place. Even then, it was meh.

In fact, meh is a good word for the entire book. The FMC stutters a lot and is meh. Her four mates are also meh. The dialogue is sugary sweet – meh.

Not sure if this is worth continuing or not.

What a beautiful debut novel! I genuinely love each main character and the relationship they have and develop between each other. This is a story of loss & gain, struggle & thrive, pain & beauty! While reading the author takes you to a vivid world where you can practically see and feel as if you were there to live it yourself. I’m honored to have gotten to read this and am beyond ecstatic to see what happens in the second half of this duet!

💜 Favorite Quote 💜
“You are the most alluring piece of art the darkness of this world has ever given me, little muse. Seeing you, I can understand why so many people fight to own the art we create because now that I’ve seen you, how can I return to a world without you? I’d go insane, knowing there is something so enchanting out there that I may not ever get to see again. You inspire a war inside of me. Part of me wants to own you, possess you, hide you from the world so that only my brothers and I get to bask in your image, but the other part of me wants to share you and let the world have a taste of something they’ll never get to have. Tell me you’re mine. Tell me, no matter who sees you in this world. You belong to me, little muse.”

This was so good and if you likes the Witsec series but also like PNR, this may be a great book to try.

It started with Lily, a bunny shifter who had a horrible tragedy caused by wolves, that left her the only living person of her family. After 2 years of suffering from PTSD and trauma related to said wolves, of living in paranormal witness protection she is set up in a safe house with 4 agent brothers who, surprise, are wolves.

She does her best to find her way back into normal life but the brothers Thorn, Rowe, Sylvin, and Maddox and determined to protect her as she is their mate. As the relationship progressed they find that both the brothers and lilys tragic backgrounds have too much in common to be coincidence. And when she threatened, by outside forces and even her own mind, they will do whatever the can to keep her safe.

This book is has written about mental health and PTSD so beautifully. Definitely read the TWs before jumping in but I finished this book in 1 setting because it was so amazing. Can’t wait for the next!

Good start

This is my first time reading this author. Honestly, I grabbed the book based on two things. The cover, and the reviews. I liked the idea of fated mates where the fmc is a prey animal as opposed to a wolf shifter or same predator species. The reviews were also glowing with at least one person stating similarities to WITSEC but with shifters. Um...yes! Sign me up. The book was intriguing. It definitely kept my attention. I wouldn't say it was fully on par with the book it was compared to but honestly that series is in its own category. For a debut release this was well done. I found the book to have a good plot and good character development. Each character stands out on their own. It was worth reading and if my feeds remind me when book two releases, I'll definitely add it to my tbr.

My new favorite ❤️

If you loved the WITSEC Series, you’re going to like this.
It’s witness protection, but make it shifters. Add in fated mates and a couple of psycho MMCs, with a dash of intrigue and you’ve got one of my new favorites.
Coming off of the high of one of my favorite series ending (WITSEC), I was looking for my next thing, and I think this is it.
The story captures me right away, and despite some editing issues, I couldn’t put this down.
Admittedly this may not be a perfect book, (some pacing issues and wanting more of a build up of the relationships ) but it was still a blast to read. I am so looking forward to the next one. You have one heck of a cliffhanger, twists and an unexpected gut wrenching scene on top of it all.
I highly recommend!
Seriously. Read it in like a day.

Wow, I really enjoyed this read! The trauma that Lily goes through at the start of this book is unimaginable. The years of suffering before she is taken to stand on her own two feet, is tortuous. The joy and peace she starts to find when she meets her mates is so deserved. The happiness they all bring her, the security their presence brings and the insight they all give each other as things continue to spiral is so satisfying. This book is only a slow burn, but there is so much potential for what is to come in the next book, I can't wait to read more about Lily, Thorn, Rowe, Sylvan & Maddox. I love how natural their relationship falls into place, and how Lily's bunny is so comfortable around their wolves. A great read, and I'm looking forward to the next book!

I really enjoyed this book! Some days it feels like I've read every wolf shifter book out there--I am very aware that I have, in fact, NOT--but sometimes it feels that way, and it makes it hard to read another one because they all start to blend. This was quite the opposite. It was a sweet, fast-paced book with wolf shifters and a bunny fmc in the shifter equivalent to Witness Protection. The author did a great job on some difficult-to-talk-about subjects, that being said, if you don't like dark subjects, don't read dark books (I feel like this should be obvious but clearly it's not). I pretty much devoured the book in one sitting; I enjoyed it that much. I am looking forward to the next book and am glad to have discovered another great author! If you're on the fence, just read it! 🖤

This is book one in the S.P.P. book series. This is a why choose, paranormal romance. This book was an Amazing read and I devoured it. It starts with telling us about the FMC and her heartbreaking story that leads her on one heck of a path that introduces her to her four MMC men. This book is so worth the read and was so worth the wait. When I began reading this story my heart hurt for the FMC and what she not only witnesses but also what she has been forced to endure to keep surviving. When I first cam e across each of the MMCs I had different opinions about each of them as they are all different in so many ways. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book as this one ended in OMG way. Let me just say I didn't see that coming at all.

I had this book on preorder since forever so I was excited to finally have it delivered. It got me everything I wanted and more. The FMC Lily is a girl with a traumatic experience seeing her family get killed. She the sole survivior of the massacre but fights and finally is placed in a home close to agents. Shifters the same species as the killers of her family. So she should feel unsafe but somehow she feels safe despite the psycho tendencies. Though all because she becomes their world and they'll do anything. Can't wait for the next book.

I loved this book so much. Lily really went through a horrifying ordeal where her family was murdered right in front of her. She is then taken to the S.P.P. Custody where she stays until they think it’s safe for her. She moves in next to four brothers who turn out to be her fated mates. I love how protective and possessive Thorn, Rowe, Sylvia and Maddox are with Lily. This is a slow burn but boy does it still bring the spice. Can’t wait for Book 2
