Leave Me is book one of Nick and Elissa’s duet and book seven in the Badger Creek Duet Series. A two-part, second chance, new adult romance. Leave Me must be read before Leave Me Not in order to enjoy the full story.
Badger Creek is Elissa Green’s home, her safe space away from the gossip of her failed skiing career. She’s made a name for herself as the manager of the ski lodge, but she still longs for the one person who holds her heart.
And then there’s Nick O’Connor. As Badger Creek’s Olympic hopeful, he has a lot to live up to, especially since he left the only girl he’s ever loved to pursue his dream. But when an injury sidelines him, he ends up back home, embarrassed and hiding out.
But it’s Elissa who reminds him that they were once in love and maybe returning home isn’t such a bad thing after all. That is until they get some news that will change everything.
I totally breezed past this book. I cried, my heart hurt, I smiled.. I felt emotions all across the book. This is a duet and I’m dying to know what the second half of this story is going to be!!!
Back Story: Nick and Elissa are childhood sweethearts. Fell in love hard and were inseparable. They both planned to go to Colorado for skiing. That is until her mom is diagnosed with cancer and Elissa makes the hard decision to stay in Tahoe and give up her scholarship. Her and Nick try to stay together long distance but it’s to hard so they break up.
Book Starts Here: Four Years later, Nick is trying to make the Olympic team for aerial skiing. He gets hurt on a run and blows his knee, so after having surgery he goes back home for PT. He doesn’t want to tell anyone but a childhood friend sees him at the bus stop and gives him a ride to his childhood home. Since his parents go to AZ for the winter, he’s alone. An hour later there’s a knock on the door. When he opens it, it’s his ex, Elissa.
Elissa works really hard at the ski resort and is happy. She misses her ex and the random texts they send to each other are so surface level, it’s like they’re just acquaintances. When she sees him for the first time in years, her heart skips. She feels love, anger and a sense of peace.
After talking about the past, they realize they can’t live without each other. They really take their time talking out their issues and concerns. There are some major bumps in the road to make them work.
1. When he is healed, will he go back to skiing? 2. If he does, will Elissa go with or will she stay back again? 3. How will 2 pink lines go into their already unset plans?
This quote made my heart hurt because you as the reader really feel the pain Elissa is feeling: “All I’ve ever wanted was for Nick and I to get back together, but I guess I didn’t want it like this. It’s forced with his injury, and he wouldn’t have come back if it hadn’t happened. The future is still too murky for me to be throwing myself into this wholeheartedly.”

I loved every moment of Nick and Elissa’s story. From the previous books in this series, I knew I loved Elissa. She is smart, kind and so wonderful. Finally having Nick on the page was great-he is just so sweet and very swoony. These two are perfect for each other and I really enjoyed seeing their love throughout the book.
When Nick unexpectedly returns home following an injury-reconnecting after 4 years apart was huge for them both. I loved how raw and realistic their reunion was; I felt for them as so many emotions were a part of that scene.
Strong feelings and high chemistry was absolutely still very present and their connection never waned over the years apart. Though they have a lot to discuss-so many things were left unsaid after their break up. Not to mention the questions surrounding what their future holds. Nick never fell out of love and was all in with Elissa. She’s a little more skeptical, worried to put her heart on the line again. Though you can’t deny the love between them.
I love the Badger Creek world these authors created, and although I’m sad this is the last duet-seeing all the previous couples in this one makes me so happy! This little found family is amazing.
I always know going into these duets that there will be a great cliffhanger-but I have to say Claire Raye had be on the edge of my seat for the final few chapters. To say I need more after this ending is an understatement!
I can not wait to see how book 2 will unfold. The anticipation is high wondering how Nick and Elissa will find their HEA.
*Thank you to the author for generously providing an ARC. This review and its opinions are my own*
I waited so long for Nick & Elissa's story and it was worth it.
Claire Raye wrote out their relationship so beautifully. You feel like you’re almost part of it. Nick & Elissa’s story is quite sad but also so filled with love and friendship. You can tell in everything they do and say that they have known each other for years and know each other inside out. However it did read as more of a sad - us breaking up is inevitable - story. (Just wanted to give you a heads up that’s it’s not all fluffy.
Although there is a huge amount of doubt at play (especially with Elissa) you can't help but hope they end up together... only of course there is a small obstacle...
There’s also some very sexy scenes 😮💨 and I honestly love Elissa so much! She’s adorably funny and Nick.. phew, next level hotness in my head.

Idk if this is necessary but: TW: pregnancy - cancer
Please keep in mind that this is part of a duet so it ends on a tiny cliffhanger - you kind of see it coming. A duet always ends with a HEA. It’s also duet 4 in a larger intertwined series so for the best reading experience - and to avoid spoilers - it’s best if you start with book 1 - Hate me
Thank you Claire Raye for giving me a chance to read this as an arc. As always incredibly grateful and I LOVED IT SO MUCH AND CANNOT WAIT FOR PART TWO!!!!
This was everything I knew it would be and more. I have never wanted to live in Badger Creek so badly. Getting parts of Nick and Elissa through the other’s stories was always good, but I was so happy to finally get their story. As always with these duets, I was sucked right in, and it pulled at all of my heart strings. It’s been years, how they ended things was heart breaking with words they said in the moment. Nick went off to follow his dream, and Elissa stayed behind to take care of her mom. So when an injury means Nick comes back home, what happens then? Their feelings and chemistry are still so strong and I was hanging on to every word. I could go on and on but I don’t want to spoil it. I was the most emotional about their story and I can’t wait for the second part now. Hands down a favorite of 2024 for me.
Book 7 of 8 in the Badger Creek Series and each book and each couple just gets better! The long wait for Nick and Elissa is finally over. Note: you don’t have to read in order however, it certainly adds to the reading experience.
Nick has went off and had a successful career as an Olympic athlete. Elissa may not have her Olympic career she once dreamed of however, she’s made quite the career at Badger Creek ski resort and stayed behind to care for her mother. Both are equally successful but not successful at happiness and love. Their reunion is angsty but cathartic and they blend together so comfortably. Despite the ease of their reconciliation, Nick and Elissa still have to confront their friends, careers, dreams, and desire to make their relationship work, but this time at a chance for forever.
I loved every emotional and heart-wrenching moment of Nick and Elissa’s story, and it’s not over yet. These two wonderful characters take us on a journey of giving love a second chance while forgiving each other for past mistakes and hateful words they used against each other. But nothing is ever easy, and Elissa goes through a lot of inner turmoil over will he or won’t he leave me again.
Elissa is a smart, kind, and sweet woman with a beautiful soul. She went through a lot of heartache when her and Nick broke up, but she pulled it all together and got through the hurt. But now that Nick is back, injured, with his future uncertain, all those long-lost feelings surge to the surface and make it difficult for Elissa to decide what to do.
Nick being injured and back in Badger Creek with Elissa is reminding him of all the mistakes he’s made and the love he’s lost. But with one look at Elissa all the love he has for her comes rushing back and he will do anything and everything to get her back into his life for good.
The sizzling chemistry between these two was palpable and definitely had fireworks exploding everywhere. Their first look at each other after so long, had my heart racing! They were just smoking hot together.
The banter between everyone in this story had me giggling like crazy, but the banter between Nick and Elissa had me tearing up and just swooning over the immense amount of love they have for each other.
So much emotion was woven into this story that it literally had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails hoping and praying that these two can make it to their happy ever after. But the twist and turn at the end of this part of their story, has left me wondering if that will ever happen.
Oh gosh, you know that feeling, when you love a series and you know it's coming to an end? Yeah you want to read it, yet not because it will be a goodbye to the series. I have been waiting for Elissa and Nick's story. Meeting Elissa through the other books, as she manages the Badger Creeks Ski Resort, we already know she is a lovable character. This was a Second Chance, Soul Mate and Small Town Tropes. Elissa and Nick found their everything at a young age. Both with dreams of Olympics and their love for each other. The life chose different paths and left Elissa staying behind while Nick went off to fulfil his dreams. Not before shattering their hearts.
4 years later Elissa is a successful business manager and Nick is equally successful but is back home with serious injuries. While is hurting and recovering his ex finds him. The love and bond between them is so strong, it's pretty hard not to fall back into each other's arm. I like that they don't fight it but Elissa is cautious, she can't be hurt like last time again. While the reunion is easy, there is all other factors that need to be addressed. It is quite emotional, great banter so much love and fun. As always the heat is just perfect. Really loved these two along with all the other characters. Can't wait for the finale of this duet. Claire you have done a fantastic job with capturing my heart with this book and series.
Nick and Elissa had been together all through their childhoods and even into college. Until they both needed to make decisions about their futures. Nick pursued his dreams of skiing in college then to the US team and hopes of making the Olympic team. Elissa stayed in Badger Creek and made her life. An injury brings Nick back to Badger Creek for a more long-term stay and Elissa finds her way to him. While they find themselves together whenever they can, they are not letting people know they are back even on speaking terms.
Nick and Elissa spent a lot of time in their own way and in their own minds thinking about the past and why they can’t have a future while throwing around “I love you” pretty early. This really continued through the whole story. While I understood since they were keeping their relationship secret, I feel like there could have been more character development or plot points. They could have had general interactions with their friends. It seemed if they weren’t together, they were constantly just thinking about how they regretted their past, were currently in love, but didn’t know about the future. Nick was described as being grumpy but I didn’t notice that. When he said he was going to change, he really seemed the same. I was really looking forward to Nick and Elissa’s stories after reading Forget Me and Forget Me Not but I struggled with this one.

I have been waiting for Nick and Elissa’s duet since book one of this series when we were introduced to them in Alex and Delaney’s story. Claire Raye has an amazing way of grabbing my attention from the first page and make me emotionally invested. Like the previous books within this series it’s told in dual pov which I love.
Nick and Elissa have loved each other for a long time but four years ago they discovered that their love wasn’t enough to keep them together and instead was holding them back. My heart broke for them as they relived some of their past. Nick regrets leaving but Elissa knew he needed to Perdue his dreams as always wondering what if has been awful for her.
Nick is back but for how long? He wants to be with Elissa, he still loves her but can he convince her that their love is enough this time?
Their chemistry together is fantastic and I love the way they don’t deny it. That everything feels best when they’re together. The angst of not knowing what the future holds and because of being so hurt in the past makes planning anything difficult. I really hope they get their HEA, they deserve it.
I highly recommend reading this book, it’s part one of a duet.
I love these duets and have been eager for Nick and Elissa’s story from the start! Back together in Badger Creek after an injury that may bring Nick’s Olympic Team dreams to a crashing halt, Nick and Elissa can’t even begin to avoid each other and the attraction that’s always been there. Nick is in the ultimate limbo with his professional career and facing losing the thing he’s realizing he should have fought harder for all along - because Elissa has always been the one. With so much uncertainty, they’re doing their best to keep whatever their relationship status is a secret to spare everyone the potential heartbreak. But now that Elissa is pregnant, there is even more hanging in the balance.
Nick and Elissa found their one young, and their dreams and life circumstances tore them apart, but they never got over each other. I loved how natural their connection was and how difficult it was to hide their relationship from their friends with constantly being drawn to the other when they’re near. These duets always have gut wrenching cliffhangers, and while I loved this scenario for Nick and Elissa, it throws so much more uncertainty into their already tenuous reunion. I cannot wait for Leave Me Not to see their happily ever after!

Nick and Elissa were everything to each other. They were inseparable. When Nick went off to college and Elissa decided to stay home and care for her mom, they stayed together and wanted to make it work long distance. When Nick made the US team, he dropped out of college, and it made their already difficult relationship even harder to deal with. Until they both blew up and said some things they didn't mean and broke up. Four years later and Nick is home after a serious injury. Him and Elissa fall straight back into their love for each other, but they are both unsure of the future. Elissa is worried that Nick will break her heart again and isn't sure what to do about it. Nick doesn't ever want to hurt Elissa again but doesn't even know what will happen with his injury. They eventually talk things through and feel like this time will be different, but they won't know until Nick fully recovers from his injury. Then Elissa finds out she's pregnant and that adds even more unknowns into their future. I loved this story so much! Nick and Elissa have been in love with each other for so long, and it has never changed for either of them. I cannot wait to see how things play out with Nick and his injury and Elissa and her pregnancy.
ARC Book Review Leave Me A Novel Written By Claire Raye Fiction - Romance Published February 2024 255 Pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the seventh book in the author’s Badger Creek Duet Series. This is the first book in the Nick and Elissa Duet. Book 1 has a cliffhanger ending. I am eager to read Book 2 to see how this will end for them.
Nick and Elissa were high school sweethearts. He left Badger Creek to pursue his Olympic dream as an aerial ski jumper. She gave up her Olympic dream as a downhill skier to remain in Badger Creek after her mother’s cancer diagnosis. Four years later Nick is back after a knee injury could end his skiing career and dream. At 24 years old, Elissa has established herself working at the ski resort.
Their breakup years ago has left a hole in Elissa’s heart. Nick feels like an outsider after being away for four years. The only constant is their never ending love for each other.
There is much sadness in this story as Nick and Elissa attempt to rekindle their relationship. They both have regrets and face an uncertain future. Will Nick leave again if his knee recovers? Can Elissa stand in his way.
The four duets in this series can be read as standalone books.
“…..losing you is the thing that scares me the most.”
Reading "Leave Me" by Claire Raye felt like catching up with old friends in the Badger Creek Series. I was super excited for Nick and Elissa's love story, and wow, it didn't disappoint!
The story happens in the beautiful Badger Creek, where Elissa manages the ski lodge, and Nick, the Olympic hopeful, comes back home after getting hurt. Their journey is like a rollercoaster of emotions – there were tearful and heartwarming moments that kept me hooked.
I love how Claire Raye creates characters you can relate to. Elissa's strength and Nick's growth from chasing dreams to facing the past felt so real. The chemistry between Nick and Elissa is amazing, making their reconnection super interesting.
The cliffhanger at the end left me itching for "Leave Me Not," wanting to know what's next for Nick and Elissa. "Leave Me" weaves second-chance love, small-town charm, and unexpected twists perfectly. It's a must-read for fans of Badger Creek and newcomers alike.
In my opinion, "Leave Me" is not just a book; it's a heartwarming journey into the Badger Creek world. I can't wait to see what's in store for Nick and Elissa in "Leave Me Not."
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the 7th book in the Badger Creek Duet. 1st book in Nick & Elissa Duet. This book does end on a cliffhanger. Nick has been following his dreams and training with the US team for the Olympics. After landing an incredible jump, he hits a patch of ice, causing him to lose his footing, resulting in a serious knee injury that requires surgery and months of PT. So, he's headed home. The last place he wants to be but also the only place that he wants to be. Because she's there. Elissa wasn't able to follow her dreams. When her mom was diagnosed with cancer, she knew there was no way she could leave home. Years later and she has made a life for herself. Even if it gets lonely at times. When Elissa finds out Nick is home, nothing can keep her away. Now, they are determined to make it work this time. Even with the future uncertain. I have been dying for Elissa and Nicks story. The chemistry between them is off the charts, and then there is the cliffhanger. OMG, thank goodness we don't have to wait long for the second half of the duet.
Leave Me by Claire Raye is a poignant and emotionally charged romance novel that delves deep into the complexities of love, loss, and self-discovery. From the very first page, the author weaves a compelling narrative that draws readers in and keeps them engaged until the very end.

Raye's writing style is both eloquent and evocative, painting vivid scenes that transport readers into the heart of the story. The emotional depth of the novel is truly captivating, leaving a lasting impact on those who immerse themselves in its pages.
Overall, Leave Me is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance looking for a story that will tug at their heartstrings and leave them feeling hopeful and inspired. Claire Raye has crafted a beautiful tale of love, loss, and redemption that will stay with readers long after they turn the final page.
Let me start by saying I love this group of characters from the long time friends to the found family! I love seeing everyone from the other books here and getting to see their lives after there stories. But I have been waiting to read Elissa and Nick’s story! It starts off with his dreams the professional ones in limbo and his personal dreams a small possibility. But then they meet after so long and it’s beautiful, heartwarming, heartbreaking, swooning, and steamy! As the talk about how they got to their break up and how they still desperately love and need each other. Working through their relationship pst and deciding no matter what happens for Nick and his skiing future they will be together. Their reunion is so sweet and ugh all the feels!! This book is so so so good!! I really cannot wait for book two in a few weeks to see how their beautiful love story turns out!!
❤️ First everything ❤️ Second chance ❤️ Found family ❤️ It’s always and only been you ❤️ Unplanned pregnancy ❤️ Swoony and steamy
After an injury Nick returns back to Badger Creek and it doesn’t take long for him and Elissa to reconnect. When it comes to these two it is like no time has passed between them. Their chemistry and connection is palpable. You can see how perfect they are for each other and how much they both love each other.
I adore Elissa and have from the very start. She loves Nick and she loves Badger Creek. She is also slightly hesitant when it comes to being in a relationship, especially when there is still some uncertainty in the air. Nick, despite his injury and possible future, is really making the best of being back home. Especially when it comes to Elissa.
I love the love that these two have. They are the ultimate end game and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book for them. P.S. this does end on a little cliffhanger.
If you’re looking for a small town, second chance, friends to lovers, secret relationship, surprise pregnancy check this one out.
i am so freaking happy to be back in badger creek!! after reading max and harper’s duet i knew i needed to read nick and elissa’s too! i was so excited for it and let me tell you i need the second part of their duet asap!!! i felt so much for nick and couldn’t imagine how scared he felt in this book. there were some huge life changes that were thrown at him and having to navigate the unknown is scary. i loved how elissa jumped right back into her loving and supportive self when nick got back. they left things pretty bad and as soon as the reconnected she could tell he just needed her and she was there. i loved their dynamic and while i need the next book so bad im so scared for it because i just know my anxiety will go through the roof. i love nick and elissa so much and they are so perfect for each other. i can’t wait for the next one but i fear i am just as scared as nick and elissa about the future as they are 🫣
So if you have read any of the previous duets (this is book 7), you know they are famous for ending off on such jaw dropping cliff hangers in book 1. I honestly don’t think I could’ve taken that for Nick and Elissa. They had already been through the wringer emotionally and if then if something huge event happened, they would just break into a million pieces. Now don’t get me wrong, the ending is huge for them - but nothing like the previous books. There is so much left unsaid in this book between these guys which is what makes it so real. Nicks whole career is over in his mind but who is Elissa to hold him back from wanting to try again? This whole book is about them rekindling their love and giving it a second chance. I love that we get to see everyone from the previous books and how they are also growing/moving forward in life. I need to know these guys get their HEA!
I'm just putting this out into the universe...I'm not ready for Badger Creek to be finished. But I'm so ready for Nick and Elissa to get their HEA.
When Nick finds himself back in Badger Creek after a knee injury puts him at risk of losing his US Olympic Ski Squad dream, his ex-girlfriend (who am I kidding, she's his true love), Elissa, is ready to help him reintegrate into the place they grew up.
And it's clear from the word "go," that Nick and Elissa are meant to be. Their chemistry is absolutely mind-blowing. They know each other so unbelievably well. And their families adore them as a couple. But can they deal with the cliffy that Claire Raye leaves them on at the end of the book...
With the other couples from Badger Creek making more than just a short appearance, Leave Me is the perfect send-off to what I think is the perfect series.
I have been waiting for Elissa and Nicks story since the previous book showed a glimpse of them and it was so worth the wait. It’s so good that I finished it within a couple of hours. Time just flew by reading there story and seeing them get sort of a second chance because it’s a duet the first book keeps you on your toes as you don’t know how it’s going to end to get to the second one.
I liked it a lot, Elissa is great and how she handles things. Nick is confused as this stage after everything that happens with him skiing and not knowing what will happen next. I do feel like Nick has some growing up to do still so I hope to see that in their next book. I’m likening the tropes this duet. I also enjoyed the other couples and seeing more of them and how their love stories are still growing.
I know going in, I KNOW that these books are duets and I’m going to be left with a cliffy, yet still it catches me off guard.
Nick and Elissa are my favorite Badger Creek couple. I have loved every single couple, but Nick and Elissa take the cake. High school sweethearts getting a second chance at love, I just ate this story up! I couldn’t stop reading, and like I said, even though I knew it would leave me begging for more, I still wasn’t ready for that ending. I cannot WAIT for their next book.
Claire Raye, these girls have created a world and a family within Badger Creek that I love. I truly think this may be my favorite series from these two. The love and friendship that these characters all have is beautiful, and I can’t get enough!
This is book one in the new duet by Claire Raye. This is Nick and Elissa’s story. It’s been four years since they have broken up and Nick has been chasing his dream. But an unfortunate accident leads him back to his hometown. And who shows up on his doorstep the first day? The insecurities both of these characters are feeling are so deep and real. They don’t know what the future holds, and even though they still love each other, will it be enough this time to make it through? From the beginning I could feel how strong their connection is, but I could also feel the doubt, especially on Lis’ side. She’s the one that was left behind and she’s afraid it will happen again. I can’t wait for book two to see where everything will go and how they try to handle it all.
Thank you to Author Claire Raye for providing me with ARCs not only of this book, but the entire series. I am SO EXCITED to read the final instalment Leave Me Not in the coming weeks 💕
I've been curious as to Nick & Elissa's love story and how they may find their way back to one another... and this book did not disappoint!! I don't want to give away any of the plot (as these duets always end on such intense cliffhangers) but if you're a fan of a spicy one true love, soul mate story with an unexpected addition, this duet is for you!
I'm sad to be leaving Badger Creek at the end of this duet but it's been such a perfect setting for each love story and I can't wait to see what the Authors do next ❤
I have been so excited to read Nick & Elissa’s story! This series has built this love story up so much for me! First loves to enemies to friends! I knew Nick and Elissa were going to have some insane chemistry, but danggg they are something else together! Nick comes back home after a ski injury and falls right back into things with Elissa! Their love is so sweet and pure! “I’m not sure anyone could take his place. High school sweethearts, young love and all that shit they say about it. Nick and I were it.”
I knew it was going to be a cliffhanger but I wasn’t ready! I can’t wait for the 2nd book!
I received an ARC copy of Claire Raye's book and OMG! Emotional damage but in a good way. I've been wanting to read Nick and Elissa's story since the first duet in the Badger Creek Series. I was hooked from the very first chapter which tugged on my heartstrings. Nick and Elissa's journey is sweet, real, loving, and extremely emotional. I loved it! Claire Raye knows how to write fully developed characters. I love the world of Badger Creek. I cannot wait to see how everything unfolds in the next book of Nick and Elissa's story. This one left me wondering how are they going to overcome all of the hurdles they are facing.
"Leave Me" by Claire Raye is a gripping tale, marking the first adventure of Nick and Elissa in the Badger Creek Duet series. This book weaves an intricate story of love, mystery, and redemption. Nick, a complex character with a troubled past, finds an unexpected connection with Elissa, whose strength and compassion shine throughout the narrative. Their journey is filled with challenges and emotional turmoil, drawing readers into their world. Claire Raye masterfully crafts a storyline that is both heart-wrenching and hopeful, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment. A must-read for those who cherish deep, emotional romances with a twist of suspense.
This book will make you feel everything. I cannot wait to read book two. Nick and Elissa have a beautiful love story and the backstory as well as the main story are well developed. The changes they go through and trials they experience will have you on the edge of your seat. I have never read any of the other books in this series but it is beautifully written and you can feel every bit of the chemistry. I can't wait to find out if this becomes a HEA because I do love them. This book had moments that really touched home for me and brought some huge emotions on but I loved it.
Elissa and Nick are so cute. There story over the series has intrigued me and to know be able to read about them makes me so happy. It hurts my heart that they have had a rough few years apart but now I hope it all turns around. Everyone at badger creek has someone to spend time with. Will Nick and Elissa figure it out? Oh boy their story is so cute. I love it!!! I need more!! This cliff hanger is killing me! Must read book!
I literally read this book in a couple hours!! And I need the second one right now I want to know what’s going to happen!
Elissa works at the badger creek ski resort which has just undergone a huge makeover. She used to be with nick years before but he got an opportunity to ski with the Olympic team so they split up!
Nick is an Olympic skier who has just had an accident that means he can’t ski for 9 months. He decides to move back home during this process but doesn’t tell anyone. When he arrives he is met by Zoey who tells his ex elissa that he’s back. Then she bangs on his door and they confront their feelings that’s have been there since they decided to split.
I have been waiting for their story for a while and it didn’t disappoint! I love seeing all the other couples in the background having stipulations as to what’s going on!! I can’t wait for leave me not. I want to thank Claire Raye for allowing me an arc to this book I am so grateful and loved it!! 🥰🥰
