Amish Daughters #2

Amish Winter Wonderland

Rate this book
Twenty-five-year-old LILLIAN STOLTZFUS is living in the shadow of her deceased brother. When her dad gives her the gift of land that would normally go to the eldest son, it includes a bakery he built as an offering to a suitor for her. No one wants marriage for Lillian more than she wants it for herself, but at twenty-five, she fears she will end up a spinster if Seth never returns her secret feelings for him. Thirty-year-old SETH MILLER is loaded down with the responsibility of caring for an overbearing father. His loyalty to his father's farm has caused him to put his own needs on hold his entire adult life. Being secretly in love with Lillian for many months, he finds it difficult to speak to her because he lacks the confidence having never dated before. Will the contents of an old spice box change everything for both of them? Or are they destined to admire each other from afar indefinitely?

This is the second book in the Jacob's Daughter series. I found, as with the first
one, that this was a light, quick, easy read. I thought this book had more
character development than the first. A nice addition to the series. I'm anxious
to read the next one.

In this book Lillian and Seth find each other. They come to marriage late for the Amish community. Samantha Jillian Bayarr continues the story in Amish Winter Wonderland. Lizzie, Jacob, and Abbey are there.

Lillian is struggling with being single. In her Amish world most women are married by now. She is interested in Seth, but he is so shy she can't tell if he is interested in her or not. Lillian's sister Hannah tires to help her attract his attention, but the attempts seem to backfire.

Seth is interested in Lillian but is so shy and afraid of rejection that he can't bring himself to talk more than a few words to her. He has been helping is father so long that he missed out on the normal activities that the young people do. His father is trying to push Seth in the right direction, realizing that he had no right to keep his children from pursuing a future.

I liked this. At first I thought it was a stand alone story but then realized it did incorporate the characters from the first book.

Amish Winter Wonderland book 2, is an interesting view of the Amish people.

After reading book 1, I was looking forward to Amish Wonderland book 2 and I am not disappoint. Amish Wonderland is not just a love story. It is also a glimpse into the way of Amish people, their gentleness and family values. Amish Wonderland is set in the fall and winter time of year. I found reading how simply the characters in the story reacted and treated each other was refreshing . I recommend Amish Wonderland to everyone. It is a well written love story, with a little old fashioned trials and tribulations.

SO SO!

SLOW TO DEVELOP A STORY. I FOUND IT HARD TO STAY FOCUSED. I USUALLY LOVE THE AMISH, CHRISTIAN ROMANCE BOOKS, BUT I FOUND THESE FIRST TWO IN THE SERIES A BIT BLAH! DON'T THINK I'LL READ THE OTHERS.

I love these books. I was raised in Amish/Quaker country in Ohio and Penn. so I have seen the barn raisings as an outsider. These books are easy light reading and they take you to a simpler time.

Book two in the series is just s simplistic. I find myself feeling frustrated with the thought patterns of the Amish adults in the story.

This series is okay, but there are inconsistencies with Amish teachings. Also, the books aren't long enough to develop the characters and stories well. I will finish the series because I started it, but I won't read a second time.
