After the death of my uncle, I inherited his bookstore. It's in Marywill, a quaint little town that neighbors a women's college. The all-female students are my primary clientele, and they hold a secret.
They're witches. Every last one of them.
Turns out they want magical books for their lessons in the arcane.
It's a good thing I'm a Bibliomancer, capable of reading people like books and finding exactly the tome they're seeking.
This power of mine makes me the perfect bookseller for my witchy customers, but it also makes them want me for more than just my wares. With one pretty student already on my case, it won't be long before I have more on my plate than I can handle.
How did this one make it off of fanfiction.net?? What in tarnation is going on here, that this book would be average rated a 4.4??
The book is super heavy on exposition and frankly has a boring protagonist. He doesn’t seem very smart for a 34 year old who made some big games and was head programmer, and probably will cure cancer when he gets a second. Gary Stu was coined for this guy here, except that everything has to be explained in excruciating detail to him.
Then to top it all off, he hooks up with a college girl 10 years younger than him, who starts calling him sir in the bedroom and he calls her slut, says he wants to face fuck her…my dude, what in the incel fantasy playbook is this crap?
If the writer sssooooooooo hates the word master then why does he put it at the start of ssssssoooooooooooooooooo many of his books.....this author is lame and a weak coward in his writing. There us ABSOLUTELY nothing wring with a servant using this term out of respect. I really dislike lame writers who are so WOKE they can't cross the street by themselves without asking a female for permission. End of the line. I'm done with this writer. I do not recommend this book.
TC lost his job and his girlfriend, but all is not lost, as he inherits a bookstore and gains two and sort of three girlfriends. He finds that he has powers, and that the local women's college is for witches. Love, books, magic, intrigue, and battle ensue. I like the action, humor, magic, and romance. I look forward to another book.
This was an unusual book. The MC who goes by TC as he was named after Thomas Cromwell is a Bibliomancer. Bibliography is the study of books, as well as a list of books. As a Bibliomancer he has the ability to absorb the entire knowledge of a book, just by touching it for less then 30 seconds. He also has the ability to read people by looking at their faces. The term is reading people like a book. It is more of an empathy type ability (which was so well played by Deanna Troy in Star Trek), not like telepathy. Of course the TC is the owner of a book store, left to him by his uncle, that serves an all women's campus that is secretly a university for witches. When TC first learns that it is a campus for teaching witchcraft, he has the stereotypical reaction of witches flying brooms, casting spells around cauldrons, and selling their souls to the devil. In spite of feeling that way, I guess he is a businessman first, because he doesn't let his prejudices get in the way of selling books, dating one of the students, and flirting with one of the teachers. I am actually amazed that the author has taken what I would have considered a minor ability and transformed it into a major power. It seems to be considered a major ability by everyone who knows about it. All in all the book pluses out weigh the minuses.
TC the MC inherits a book store from an Uncle and its located just outside a college campus. He eventually finds out that the college is for Witches. Plus, he has the magical ability to touch a book and learn everything about the book touched. Through his adventures he finds that the book store has a secret basement with antique and special tomes and a talking magical book that he learns how to use his magic from. A unique ability that his magic can do is read people like a book. He knows what makes them happy or angry or even sexually connected. He has begun a harem or 2-3 witches...
In the past couple of months King has produced not only his share of action based fantasy, he has widened his genre hopping abilities to include not only Rowling like older ya fantasy but adult fantasy such as the current story of the Lovecraft variety. And surprising enough both of the new stories are readable. Try them both. You will find what many of us already know: Dante (B) King is both one of harem lit's shining stars but also a ya star as well.
This two book (at this time) series is a fun and interesting story but the poor language skills ruin an otherwise fun and interesting story line. The author really needs to brush up on his basic sentence structure. Using "I" when " my" should be used is basic 4th grade stuff. Such errors really detract from the readers pleasure. I believe the author can do better. Personally I would be embarrassed to put my name on a book containing such errors.
I tried to give this story a chance. It started off alright, but got worse the further in I made it. The women have almost non-existent personalities and no character growth despite how long the book is. It skips over any attempt to show the MC getting to know the women in it as more than just sex objects.
Either the author doesn't see women as complete human beings, or he intentionally wrote the MC to see women that way. Either way, it's not a likable trait and could have easily been avoided through better writing.
This book gave me a look into a life of knowledge and books, come to life, of not only absorbing knowledge but commanding it and loving it, being friends with it.I am looking forward to seeing Cameras character,"fleshed out" ,so to speak. Thank you for an excellent read.
A very great book with great characters, some intense sex, and a pretty cool magic system! I was a big fan of the MC and found myself cheering him on. His harem included a college student, her professor, and his magical book who has a French accent.
I wasn’t sure what I expected with this book, but I wasn’t expecting 4.5/5 stars. Can’t wait to read the next entry!
I really wanted to like this. It was billed as a “slice of life fantasy” with a magic system that was right up my alley. Bibliomancy, the magic to absorb the content of books with a touch and to sense the books that people need, is an intriguing concept that was unfortunately undercooked in favor of a bland narrator, cliched erotic scenes, and implausibly contrived love interests.
I am 81 years old and have been an avid reader for most of my life, and this book is head and shoulders above any I have ever read of it's type. The author is to be congratulated for keeping the reader enthralled throughout the pages, with characters and scenes beyond all expectations!
Fun romp as a new bookseller discovers his uncle's true heritage and the familial power he inherited - bibliomancy. Odd power that grows exponentially as the adventure continues. Two girlfriends to date (both witches) and tons more to learn and experience. Fun read.
Don't write a book where the MC is a Dom type to a younger co-ed when everything else you write about him makes him out to be whiny/needy/self-conscious sub!
Its all just awkward. There is no way a daddy needing sub like the chick in the book would be into the MC needy and whining behavior. She'd just date someone her own age if she wanted to deal with that.
As always an exceptionally well written fantasy adventure!!! An amazing and interestingly unique plot!!! Filled with amazing, fun characters with a great storyline!!! I can't wait to see what comes next and what the octopus tattoo leads to!!!!
I hope he can transform the store into more! A school bookstore would have to know in advance the books needed and how many for each class. Many to be turned in to be used again for the next class, at least for basic classes.
An unusual and entertaining book with twists and turns that'll hook you in. While a bit slow to start, it sets the characters and plot well and drags you in once this kick off
A fun romp with potential for a great new series. I very much look forward to the book. Witches, warlocks, good and evil and a bookseller with abilities. Just a blast.
Well, another out of the park series for Mr King. Fun main character as well as good support characters that have actual depth. A fun time, and I hope to see more of this series.
A world of beautiful possibility enclosed in the start of a rollicking ride through New England. I am pleased share my surprise and delight at this book that shares a hope we want fulfilled in future volumes. 🙌 🙏 🙌.
Imagine running the book store for a college of witches and being the only eligible man on campus. Also you have the magic of finding just the right book anyone needs.
I truly hope the Author will continue with this series. The characters are great, and the plots are fairly unique. I'm a big fan of Dante King, and this is one of his best yet.
Interesting story, great characters, good potential. Left me REALLY wanting to have hid ability! Looking forward to seeing where he takes this in book 2!
Not a bad story, the MC’s skill is unique in any of the other books I have read, but several things annoyed me which took from the story. Mostly explicit sex scenes scattered across the book. Not sure I will read a book 2 if there is one.
I really enjoyed this fantasy story! I couldn't stop reading until the end, it was so exciting and the twists kept me wondering what was coming next. Throw in some very erotic moments to keep it saucy and you will have a happy reader. I look forward to more.
I enjoyed reading this book. Interesting story, interesting characters, interesting premise. I like the mix of modern and supernatural / fantasy. Makes me want to get the next book to see what happens next.
Not what I expected : its not some litrpg even if there are some stuff close enough. Its also a polyamorous romance wich I didnt saw coming. Past those two ’problem’ some interesting approach on books and magic. Fast read, the 3 book are a well tough story. Worth the reading.
This is second book i am DNFing which happens in a book store or book related setting. I think this premise is not for me. Cant complain anything about the writing though. I just couldn't connect with it.
This was a fun read. Enjoyed the characters and the more relaxed slice of life with a little action in the story. Looking forward to seeing were the story is going.
