Broken down by drug addiction and unable to connect with the girl he loves, Peter has had enough. Drug-addled and at the point death, he sees an angel. One who shows him the evils in the world and demands he put them right.
Kill before they can. Strike down with the vengeful hand of God.
Plagued by visions, reality blurring, Peter finds himself no longer able to see the good from the bad, and his own hand of vengeance as much in the mix as the murderers, the rapists, the robbers. Peter becomes the twisted hand of death, until he is more of what he hunts than not.
Can he find the way? Or is he lost forever?
Full of blood and gore, Witness This Atrocity is an extreme horror novel with scenes unsuitable for some. Consider this a trigger warning for everything.
Holy fuck. This was a bad ass concept and story. What do ya get when a Heroin addict is strung out seeing visions of crimes then hears a angel tell him to go and help stop the crimes he is seeing. You get a fucked up brutal story with a ending that leaves you numb. I highly recommend this and all of Ash Ericmore cuz he fucking rules and keeps getting better.
A helluva strong showing from Ash Ericmore. I've always been critical of people writing such ugly and sadistic content without context or purpose. There is a very specific art to getting extreme horror and splatterpunk just right. And the author nailed it on this occasion. Our lead here, Peter, was really fantastic to follow through his troubled and tumultuous journey. Was he being guided by an angel? Or something more sinister? What was justified versus done out of impulse and delusion? Just a ton to follow and contemplate throughout the book. Great dynamics and flow, balancing all of the plot points. I remember someone once saying to me, "It's not about attaining power. What really matters is what you do with it, once you get it." Always stuck with me. And it really reflects Peter's plight, again, challenging the reader to think on certain tidbits. Full of sex, gore, supernatural elements, and a deep character dive, this just hit all the right notes for me. Highly recommend.
Ever wonder what sets a vigilante on their mission? You’d think it’d be some righteous attempt to avenge a loved one, set right the wrongs in the world… But not Peter.
He’s hit rock bottom. He’s broke, hungry, and itching for a hit. He lets his thoughts wander into the darkness—we’ll call it the ‘path less traveled’—but it doesn’t lead to where he thinks. Now he sees things behind his closed eyes. Things he can change if he chooses.
Ericmore leads us through Peter’s rapidly spiraling reality and his blurred/disintegrating morals with his unique style and spot-on sensory descriptions. Breathe in the seaside air and the decay of a once-thriving town. Hear the splinter of bones and teeth. Witness the atrocities as they plague/grace Peter’s thoughts and ride along with him as he sets them right… in his own way.
5/5 stars! and an ending that leaves us wondering!
The voice was a man’s, most definitely, but Peter couldn’t quite focus on the form. It was like he had some sort of shit phone filter over his whole body and face and it was stopping Peter from seeing him. A voice-changer, for a person. He was distorted, like an old VHS tape, the tracking off. Static, and stuttering in reality. Peter shook his head at the thing. “No,” he said. “You’re not real.” He turned away from the visage and looked the other way. It was just a figment of his imagination. Drugs were causing it. That was all. He was overcome with paranoid delusions. He focussed on the wall in front of him.
Thoroughly enjoyed this read. A young man down on his luck, his only friend a young promiscuous woman that he secretly loved. Things evolve throughout the story for both of them. Peter the young man feels like he has nothing to live for and Ali the young woman feels like her life is just about sex. In a small seaside town where they live things begin to change for them in different ways. A great fast paced, bloody and inspiring read. Taking actions and lives to the limits in a small but at the same time dramatic way. Definitely recommend worth reading.
I think that the writing was wonderful; very engaging, engrossing, and readable. I would recommend to fans of dark horror and studies in mankind's search for connection; searching to fill the emptiness inside. It was a great story, though it left me a bit morose and depressed. I like this author's work and look forward to his coming release called Animal Farm, on October 4th.
