Love and trust are more similar than we may realize at first glance. Throughout LOVE, TRUST & PIXIE DUST the author shares stories that shine a light on how love and trust weave inside, outside, through, and around one another, as they form a distinct dance with pixie dust as the melody. Two other key players in this dance are peace and letting go. If you are interested learning how to love yourself, recognizing how to trust yourself, experiencing deep inner peace, or grasping how to let go of your fears and worries, you are invited to join the dance — come discover the magic that is within.
Before reading this book, my views on trust were fairly conventional: trust is something you earn, and trust is something I am somewhat reluctant to give to others until they prove themselves. Then, Trust, Love & Pixie Dust turned my views upside down. Leslie Green shows, through her stories and explanations that Trust is not something external - it is something internal. She writes, "Trust is not in the hands of the other person. Trust comes from within you first." So I can better trust my instincts, and trust that I can deal with any situation that comes up if my judgement was not correct. And, if I am living my life in the present as Green teaches, I can see the truth of the world around me, and trust that it is ok to ask for what I need.
For Green, internal trust is not born of egoism, but rather faith in a higher power. Once again, the book surprised me. Rather than arguing for a blind faith, Green discusses engaging with the world, understanding the reality of what is, and choosing the path of love and trust. For any situation, we can look at what is lacking, what could go wrong, and surrender to fear. Green gives practical and heartfelt advice on subjects like how to avoid fear, and how to be present.
Green is a survivor - of a near drowning, several bouts with cancer, and a serious allergic reaction to name a few. The stories are gripping, as is her answer to each challenge. It's not a formula - it's an attitude.
And Pixie Dust? No spoilers here, but somehow Green weaves together her story and reflections into a magical journey to a legendary land - living in the present with radical acceptance of what is.
I waited too long to read this book yet somehow at the perfect time. The author easily poses questions to make you think and reflect her words into deeper thought. As someone who struggles with trusting, letting go, and what is, I now have a better understanding of how to gain inner peace with my personal struggles. I recommend this book to anyone facing life challenges and questioning "why me".
