A beautifully illustrated rhyming story about spring. The robin told the rabbit...The rabbit told the deer...The deer told the duck...Then all the birds began to singTo tell the bears, "Wake up, it's spring!"Samantha Berger and Pamela Chanko's breezy rhyming text and Melissa Sweet's charming watercolor illustrations spread the news that spring is here! This is a board book edition of a book originally published in the Hello Reader line.
Sunny illustrations follow an adorable rabbit as it identifies signs that spring has arrived and then proceeds to tell others. They, in turn, spread the word to other animals. The use of rhyming text and simple words makes this one work well for beginning readers who may also enjoy identifying the signs in their own environment that are indicators that spring has sprung. The book also contains some activities and questions for youngsters to ponder as they hear it read aloud. Part of the Story Play series, this one is a reissue of a previously-published book but with prompts intended to develop comprehension and some critical thinking skills. Plus, they're learning a little bit about science from its pages.
When I picked up the book "It's Spring," I thought it was going to be kinda boring because of the cover, but I changed my mind as I began to read it and discovered that it has discussion questions built into the book, and other educational information like scavenger hunts, riddle time, springtime fund, and matching inside.
The illustrations for this board book are simple and cute. The gold star for me would be that they highlight all the signs that it's spring and leave it open ended for the parent to discuss with their child. My husband chimed in that he liked this one too!
Cute quick read with animals sharing the good news of Spring. Zoe enjoys it and I think she likes thinking about spring when it is still so cold out most days. Nice illustrations.
A "pass it on" book with springtime animals and signs of life. The rhymes carry smoothly from page to page, and the illustrations are bright and robust without being too busy.
It's Spring is a cute board book by Samantha Berger and Pamela Chanko. It's the story of spring spreading throughout the forest and farmlands.
An observant rabbit notices the arrival of spring and goes out to tell the other animals. Each animal in turn finds another animal to spread the word about springs arrival.
Melissa Sweet's adorable illustrations make the book all the more enjoyable. Harriet loved just flipping through the book to look at the animals and name them.
I have yet to experience spring, I was born in July so I've only seen Summer, Fall and the beginning of Winter..why is the air so cold when I breath in? I sound like Mama when she talks to me in Swedish when I breath in. This Spring thing sounds pretty good, it makes the bunny jump high and anything that can make us jump higher is good. Right?
I like the animals in this book and Daddy says the pictures look like they are of Scotland.
What comes after winter? Everyones sick of being inside, ready for warmer weather and "It's Spring" is a good read to learn all about the season after the cold one we all dread! I would read this to my kindergarten class as a read aloud. I give it a 4 out of 5.
I really enjoy this board book about animals in Spring. The illustrations are bright, cute, and cheerful! I will certainly be adding this to my infant classroom and eventually my home library too.
