After watching over this world for millennia, a woman wandering in the woods should have been of no interest to me. But the moment I saw her bathing in a stream, only raw instinct mattered.
I was able to keep my lust at bay for a little while... until the scent of her helpless arousal as I reddened her bare bottom for putting herself in danger told me she was ready to be claimed.
But even if she'd been less reckless it would have made no difference in the end.
Sooner or later, she was always going to be mine.
Publisher's Guardian includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Sara Fields’s Guardian was an entertaining read. I’d gone into it with a bit of a preconceived idea about it, but then Ms. Fields gave it a bit of a twist and took it in a different direction with the plot, which I liked. I also liked Hector in all his delicious, growly, alphaness and Emma was the right amount of coy mixed with gleeful participant. And their scenes together will have you reaching for something icy or battery operated. Both will do. Probably don’t want to read this on your lunchbreak. I always enjoy Ms. Field’s sci fi romances. She gives us the right mix of alienness with sassy humans.
This story contains scenes of dubious consent. Interactions depicted include a predatory male protagonist that preys on a significantly younger, innocent, inexperienced female protagonist. There are also sadistic/masochistic interactions during which any number of violent, painful acts are forced on the female protagonist. The female protagonist is portrayed as someone who is innocent, young with very low self-esteem and self-worth. The male protagonist is ancient, dominant, controlling, and emotionally and physically abusive to the female.
Words used very often are: Viciously, painful, terrible, savagely, brutal, cruel, suffering etc.
I felt compelled to write a review because the misogynistic themes in this story were enough to make me sick. The difference between a story that is a Sexy Romance heavy on the BDSM, and a story about a sadistic abusive male preying on a helpless and inexperienced female is built entirely on the bricks of consent. The female protagonist does not consent and is not given the opportunity to consent (truly she is not given even the credit of a mind that is capable of deciding about what will be done to her person).
If the author had made it a point to highlight that the male protagonist has the female’s un-coerced consent to cause her physical harm, then I think my stomach would feel a lot better right now.
If you’re able to ignore all of this, and imagine that consent happened somewhere in the background…Then the story is pretty ok.
This is an original and interesting tale. The combination of a traditional sci-fi invasion story with some good paranormal themes is a nice take on the genre. If you are not easily triggered and you are into BDSM (not the light stuff, but heavy on humiliation and punishment), then I would recommend this book.
** 4.5 stars ** An author known for writing dub-con and power-exchange stories with shifter, alien, and action tropes. SFields somehow manages to take the best of all of those tropes and blend them together into this story and create this hybrid that should appeal to any of her particular readers, as it has it all.
Does it have aliens, you may ask? 🤔Why, yes, yes it does have tall horned aliens with knobbed . . . ahhh well let's just say say one character seemed very enthusiastic by what she saw .
So you only like SFields shifter stuff, I can tell you that this one has not only the guy's but the girl's animal busting to be left out.🐻
If it's stories about action and the kink, well duh it SFields. When has she ever let us down by not include some lovely dark romance? I wouldn't expect her to now. Overall, it's a fun book with it blending of tropes, little bit of action, and lots of steam❤️🔥

Story was OK. Hector was controlling and abusive. I didn’t get the romance in this story. He threatened and beat her into submission. That’s not love. I did like some of the sci-fi bits but Emma’s transformation into a guardian? Oh h___ no! She showed no particular strength that warranted that. That little twist only served to bring about the HEA…. The sicko HEA!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Aside from the alien and shifter aspects, everything in this was so completely unrealistic. From how Emma found herself on a hike to begin with, to not being monitored while on it. To being a virgin and able to take everything Hector was dealing out. To not even flinching when she found out his true nature and all that was going on at the research station. To meeting Calyx and agreeing to her “offer”. And where did the mountain lion part come from? Just out of the blue, nothing like the bear. But if you like books with a lot of dub-con rough sex and “punishment”, this is the book for you.
When Emma wanders away from the group she was hiking with, Hector spies her bathing and knows she will be his. They go on to some very hot sex and spanking to being mates. There is a lot of mysterious happenings, unexplained sightings and a vow to be fulfilled. Hector is developed to guard earth from harm and he plans on keeping Emma by his side. There are a few big scary fights with other worldly beings aka aliens and we find Hector is much more than he seems. I enjoyed this sci-fi, shifter story it was very interesting, unique and exciting, not to mention sexy and hot 🔥.
I DNF this book 29 pages in. I wanted to like it - it had a lot of promise. And then this line appeared: “It’s a program for us to all shorten our juvie sentences.” I refuse to read erotic literature about children.
In her novel, Sara Fields introduces us to an unusual character called Hector, who is a mixture of man, bear, and alien. He has been appointed as the Guardian of those who are vulnerable and cannot defend themselves against attacks from mankind or intruding aliens. Emma, on the other hand, has had a difficult life in the foster care system but has taken it upon herself to save a younger foster girl living in the same home. Unfortunately, she ended up in Juvie when the car she used was reported as stolen. These two characters are incredibly resilient, compassionate, and brave on their own, but when they come together, they become an unstoppable force. Sara Fields' writing is vivid and descriptive, which brings Hector to life as a hero and a formidable foe. Overall, it was a captivating read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
What a fantastic story! I love how the author incorporated PNR and ScFir romance into this amazing tale. The characters were phenomenal and so easy to connect with. I was so sad when they seemed destined to part, but the author quickly dispelled that notion when the battle heated up. The story was fierce and intense, full of danger and romance and I couldn’t wait to see what the ending brought. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read the next story by the author.
Guardian was a fun and entertaining story about a man/bear/alien who is a guardian of earth and stumbles upon a young woman enjoying herself in the water, finding pleasure away from the group she is with. This couple embark on a sensual journey with Hector being a very dominant man and some very scary aliens invading. I really enjoyed this story and loved this couple 🩷
I liked the blurb and read the reviews. I decided to go it a read. The storyline was far fetched and unbelievable. The first few chapters are good, interesting even, but once the villains are introduced it’s like the realm of the story is lost. I don’t want to give the whole plot away, so I will not do that, but it was disappointing that the author just had a free for all with the rest of the book. What happened to the other girls that were hiking too? The lead male was supposedly returning the lead female Emma back to her group? The story would have been more believable and inline with the created world if Emma went back to finish her time and then she decided to return to the lead male. She would be searching the Forest for his cabin to say she wanted to be with him, etc. Not the unbelievable transformation and knowledge in minutes to defeat the enemy. Disappointed with the storyline.
Hector is a Guardian and when he comes across Emma bathing in a stream, he knows that she is his mate. Emma is disobedient and so Hector reddens her bottom as punishment and knows that he can’t control himself much longer and must claim his mate. Fast-paced shifter read with loads of drama, suspense and red-hot scenes. Great characters and an entertaining read. I liked it.
Okay let me start off by saying I have read Sara Fields books and she goes where most won’t or usually can’t go now with that being said her books are a little over the top in domination, aliens and such if that isn’t your thing then bypass this one. Now Hector sexy as all get out guardian (protector of earth in the form of a bear, a warrior when needed and alien) who saved a woman, her kids from a wolf attack years prior now his job is watching over the world, nothing or no one has captured his attention the way the young girl who is separated from her camping group and boy is she a sight for sore eyes. Emma is so strong her life hasn’t been easy being bounced from foster home to foster home, used, abused and now she is on a supposed bonding trip out in the woods with about ten other girls that was supposed to reform them see she stole a car to help her little friend who was being sexually abused by the foster father so she steals the car to head to Mexico to attempt to take care of the two of them but she got caught and now in this group outdoors bonding session a place she do not want to be. So, on this nature trip she decides to take a swim in the nearby lake with out a suite but that didn’t matter since they were out in the woods, and this is where the adventure takes off because this is where the guardian first see his girl. Upon realizing she was lost after her swim of course he wasn’t going to leave her out in the woods so he appeared in human form offering to help but the attraction was so insane between these two that in just a few hours of being in each other company the magnetic pull was to strong to ignore and even though she was a virgin something in her knew she needed him but him being the guardian walking the earth for century should have been able to help himself but the desire something he has never felt before was too strong giving in taking her in such a rough way couldn’t be helped no matter how hard he tried. Now at war with himself being all three forms each with a mate that was murder and even his child so keeping her goes against everything because he doesn’t want to lose her like the past yet everything in him wants to keep her, to protect her, keeping her safe. For her this is the first time in her life she has felt loved, cared for and she doesn’t want to leave the one person who has ever showed her love, discipline the way he dishes out but can’t he find it in his heart to keep her since it goes against it everything, what happens when a unfriendly group of aliens show up in the form of a Lycans mean, nasty, ready to fight, a military to fight them but will the guardian win against them to keep his girl safe, and after plenty punishments will they get their own HEA?.

First time reading this author and I will definitely be picking up more books by her! This book is VERY STEAMY! Which I love! There’s also some story woven in which makes it even better 😉.
I did find the story a little unbelievable, especially the idea of dropping off a bunch of delinquent teen girls in the middle of nowhere and having them find their way out. I’m all for teaching skills to delinquents but this kinda seemed a bit like a death sentence. In any case, it’s mostly irrelevant since the story moves pretty fast over that part and we don’t revisit it.
I guess you could say there’s a bit of dub-con in this book but I wasn’t really feeling that since heroine was very compliant, enjoyed all aspects, and definitely wanted more. There were mega amounts of spanking, disciplining and light humiliation. While this aspect was also mega hot, sometimes I just wanted these two characters to just have sex without copious amounts of spanking (they never do, not even once). They clearly love each other and the one time you think they are finally going to express that to each other, he realizes that is not what heroine wants. He basically says he was going to make sweet gentle love to her but she pushes him until he finally says that she obviously does not want that, and goes back to aggressive spanking and very rough sex. Yup hot! But once in a while I just want to see & feel the love, ya know?
I get the impression this is the common style for this author but I definitely plan to try more books because the steam factor was perfect for me. The over the top discipline may get old for me though. I enjoy it to an extent but I like to see it mixed up sometimes where the couple doesn’t necessarily NEED it every single time just to get it on.
Ok that was .... not what I expected. A guardian a man a bear an alien soldier. Wondering planer earth for thousands of years at kast finds thr woman to claim as his. A feisty stubborn little girl (at the age of 19-20 I can't quite remember) she was so strong headed and so frustrated. She would not admit what she was thinking. But if she did this book would be to short of a read. In the most part of the book you have to read about intense spanking, intense s*x , intense edging, intense o****ms intense punishment/discipline and some times denial of o****m that led to intense o's. But at the last 30%of the book you find yourself reading actual action and story with purpose and a hea so so so much needed and cute? To be honest I loved Hector and I kind of came to love Emma , but till I reached 70% of the book I was a little confused of how to feel about her or him. I was conflicted bc of their time together the actions between them the roughness their interactions in all, but their inner thoughts made me feel more sympathetic and caring for them and started to love them more and more(well with Hector it was instant love actually ). I do recommend to read it if the brute rough dominating alpha men are your thing and do not expect romance as you have it in mind.it is rough painfull and someone can say abusive. So if you expect roses hearts fluff rsinbows and unicorns and kiss kiss make love don't read it bc you might to leave a bad review exactly bc this is something you wouldn't read in normal circumstances
Emma was in juvie for charges that weren't quite fair. Her foster parents were on drugs and the dad was touching the younger sister of Emma's heart. Emma stole her foster mother's car and took her "sister" with her to escape to Mexico. They were caught and Emma was thrown into Juvie. Now she has been given a chance to get out early. She and 11 other girls were taken out in nature and expected to hike more than 100 miles to their pick-up point. It was supposed to help them build bonds with each other but it was driving Emma nuts. When the other girls started singing, she left the path for some peace and quiet. She never imagined that she would meet Hector, a man who would bring out her darkest desires.
Hector was made into a guardian for Earth thousands of years ago. He was a man who was almost killed by a wolf pack saving a mother and children. An alien rescued him and gave him a choice to either die or become merged with two other warriors, a bear and an alien. His job would be to only protect Earth from invading aliens. He has done his job alone for a long time but then he sees Emma bathing in a pool on his land. His inner bear wants to claim her as a mate. Hector fights the need but his dark desires grow too strong.

I loved every second of this book got my attention the two main characters are the best! This as a part of everything I love in the books I read and I would love my on these characters and were they go from this new chapter they get! I don’t want to give to much away but know if you love hot guys that are loving but also not afraid to bring dark bossy into your home that’s just one of the many reasons this book is for people like you! The main girl character is definitely independent and not afraid to stand her ground even if it gets in same fun danger or anything else. With everything she has been though and no one who has truly showed her love/ caring about her she doesn’t know how to process it when that may change when she meets a hot stranger who is more than he seems. And he will do everything in his power to claim and to show and prove to her she is worth everything it all him and of course they have some very much fun though out it all!! Find out for yourself how everything goes and how awesome this book is it will have your attention to the very end and have you laughing some too! I know I couldn’t set this book down myself until I finished it that’s how it holds my attention the characters are some of my favorites!.

Hector saved a woman and her two children from a pack of wolves by drawing them to attack him instead. He was saved by a group of aliens and turned into a Guardian of Earth. He is now part human, part alien and part bear. He is in Montana in his bear form to protect the area.
Emma grew up in foster care. In one home, she couldn’t save a little girl named Sophie from being raped by the foster dad. One night Emma steals their car and was headed to Mexico with Sophie. They got caught at the border and Emma was sent to juvenile detention. Luckily Sophie was adopted by a rich couple and is living a better life. Emma is in a survival exercise with eleven other girls in Montana. She is now 20 years old. She slips away from the group and goes skinny dipping in a pond which is a hot spring.
Hector changes to his human form in case he has to guide Emma back to her group. He catches her skinny dipping and is attracted to her.
What happens when Hector is leading Emma back to her group? Why is the military looking for aliens? Can Hector keep Earth and Emma safe?
I really liked this fast paced story.

Guardian by Sara Fields. Maybe I would have claimed her more gently if she didn't beg for it... but probably not. After watching over this world for millennia, a girl wandering in the woods should have been of no interest to me. But the moment I saw her bathing in a stream, I knew Emma was mine.I kept myself from throwing her over a fallen tree and ravaging her... but only for a few hours. If she had been obedient, I might have held instinct at bay a little longer. It was the scent of her helpless arousal as I reddened her bare bottom that tore away the last vestiges of my self-control.But it would have made no difference in the end.Sooner or later, she was always going to scream my name as I mounted and rutted her.A beast must claim his mate. I really really enjoyed this book. I liked Hector and Emma. I loved the cover. I do hope there is more to come. 5*.
I did I really tried. I am fine with alien romance. The book started out, so promising. It really kind of grabbed you at the beginning, but even though it’s set in the United States, there was still no world building. There was no link. This is the undercurrent of the whole book there was parts that didn’t make any sense in it in one minute one of the characters was naked and then all the sudden he was getting undressed, and he’s fully clothed. There was just too much that was going on and none of backstory to some of the stuff I just I couldn’t get into it by I tried I really did I I did not like this book at all. The MFC was kind of a little bad ass in the beginning, and then she just turned into this mush of a character like all of her personality just disappeared. I’m sorry this is a no for me.
This was a different kind of sci-fi romance. Hector is the guardian of earth, immortal and a joined being of human, bear and alien. Emma is on a hike with her fellow inmates from juvie when she gets separated and Hector stumbles upon her. He wants to help her to get back to her group, but the sizzling heat between them grows quickly out of proportion until he isn’t so sure if he shouldn’t keep her. This book contains a rough, dominant but sweet male and a feisty female, discipline and spankings and rough sex. I loved it.
Conclusion:
A different sci-fi than what I have read before and I loved it. Great story and chemistry.

Great story but brutal! Hector is a Guardian of the Earth. He has been for millennia, alone. Emma is a young woman, in foster care most of her life and in trouble with the law. She is on a long hike with others like her when she wonders off and gets lost. Hector finds her and lust wins out. There are all kinds of elements in this book. We have shifters, aliens, humans, and above all lots of brutal sex and spankings. I loved the characters, Emma is feisty and enjoys the rough sex. Hector is controlling and savage in his desires. The story is also very interesting with all the various creatures. I could have done without some of the more barbaric sex scenes however. Good read but be prepared for the brutality.
Hector is an ancient Guardian of Earth turned by an alien species who want to protect earth from invaders but when he spies Emma who was hiking in the mountains and makes her way to an impromptu skinny dip but the Insta attraction between these two after they meet, intensifies with a mix of Hector’s hot alpha-ness and Emma’s feistiness steaming up the screen on my kindle.. I have loved reading books by this author for a long while and I like that no matter the story it’s always different and with this twist on the sci-fi/paranormal shifter/alien story that I’ve not come across before and once you add the intense steamy scenes definitely it for me makes it a hard to put down book….

What a unique twist for a shifter story. The story is action packed that has some unique characters throughout. You never know what is going to happen next and that makes for a great story. Hector comes into Emma’s life at a time when she needs to know that someone really cares about her. Their relationship is intense from the very beginning and only gets stronger. Danger is coming to Earth and they must be prepared. I don’t think I have ever read a story with this unique storyline but I loved it and was intrigued with all of the action that was taking place. This is definitely a story worth reading as Fields puts her unique spin and imagination together to create this story. I really enjoyed this steamy sci-fi romance. The idea for the origin of guardians was quite unique. Human-alien-shifter protectors such as Hector pose an interesting situation. As a hot guy out in nature happening upon Emma who is separated from her wilderness group, the scene is set for sparks to fly. A secret military installation and a potential alien threat added to the suspense. I particularly liked all of the detailed descriptions of the characters, interactions, various aliens along with their different abilities. In a topsy-turvy sci-fi world it was quite satisfying to see things end in a HEA.

Hector and Emma are a fiery couple. Sara Fields did a great job piecing this story together. Little to no grammatical errors.
Hector, Earth's Guardian, comes across Emma while she is hiking in the forest. He is instantly attracted to her and decides to keep an eye on her. Emma gets lost after skinny dipping and he decides to step in and help her get back to her girlfriends. Along the way they give into temptation and find adventure.
Insta-love, age gap, virgin heroine, very well written descriptive rough pleasure scenes. Some triggers; violence and implied abuse towards children.
We meet Emma Hart as she is on a group camping trip for those trying to shave time off their juvie sentence. Emma meets Hector as she separates from the group and enjoys a secluded glade. Hector is a guardian of Earth; a combination of human, ear and alien. For a millenium he has not been attracted to a human, such as he is to Emma.
This is raw and gritty. Dark and sensual. Of course, they need to save the planet (and in this case it’s not being green, but purple). An entertaining read, with a zingy undercurrent. Be sure you are ready.

I am a huuuuge fan of Sara Field, and this book proves why I love her writings.
I love how she describes the interaction and the meeting of these two.
Hector is a combination of three different beings, each with the pain from losing a mate. Emma is a woman who is convicted of a felon in the wilderness to try and shorten her sentence but to learn to form bonds.
In the midst of his protecting of Earth, he falls for Emma, but Earth comes under attack, and he must protect Earth and save Emma.
Funny, our government knew all along about Guardians, aliens, and this invasion..smh

Emma has had a rough life and was trying to shorten her juvenile sentence by doing a group activity in the woods. She wanders off and unbeknownst to her meets an alien shifter. Following there's a lot of super hot steamy intimacy. Upon trying to return her to the group she was supposed to be hiking with she gets taken by the army. Unbeknownst to her and Hector scientists have been trying to reach aliens. And an alien invasion was soon to follow. This was a really good book with a lot of hot AF thrown in.
