Bruno Fischer was the author of 25 novels and more than 300 short stories, a contributor to "Black Mask" and "Manhunt" magazines, and the uncrowned king of the notorious 'weird menace' pulps. He wrote also as Russell Gray and Harrison Storm.

More Deaths Than One is probably not Bruno Fischer's best mystery, but it still works as a good mystery. I also wasn't enthralled with the multiple POV; each character has a chapter of their own, and though it did not detract from the story, it didn't help to distinguish the detective, Ben Helm.
A small town is suddenly the scene of some mysterious murders. Each of the victims is linked to a young and beautiful woman, Beverly. The tone and mores in this novel surely dates it. Published in 1947, the mores and the way Beverly, still lives with her parent, while actively dating quite freely, yet somehow maintains a squeaky clean reputation, definitely places this novel as a product of it's time. Still it isn't until the last few pages that the killer is shown and it is a surprise.

Actually quite good. Not cheap at all, a very suspenseful plot. 4/5
