Author Sheri Dew has had the unique opportunity to be in the presence of prophets, seers, and revelators hundreds of times, if not thousands. In Prophets See around Corners, , she shares her firsthand witness that these inspired men are indeed called of God and that they have the ability to help us in ways no other leader or influencer can. As she explains, “There is a crucial difference between prophets, seers, and revelators and the rest of They have priesthood keys that allow them to see things we do not yet see and understand things we do not yet understand.” This is why prophets have a singular capacity to prepare us for life’s unexpected turns. This is how they can see around corners. As she answers common questions about prophets and affirms the myriad ways they point us to Jesus Christ, Sheri Dew reminds us that prophets are an extraordinary gift to those who believe. The revelation they receive is for us today―revelation that contemplates the unique circumstances in the world now. Why should we listen to prophets? Because, as the author teaches, “Those who follow the prophet are actually following and placing their trust in God the Father and in His Son Jesus Christ.” As we study and follow the counsel of prophets, the trajectory of each of our lives will change. We will be protected from deception and prepared for all that lies ahead.
Sheri Dew graduated from Brigham Young University. She served as second counselor in the general Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1997 to 2002. In March 2003 the White House appointed her a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. In 2002, Sheri Dew became president and CEO of Deseret Book Company.
“ Following prophets will be the smartest thing we ever do. Because prophets will be the last safe voices on earth. No leaders care about us and our future the way they do. No other leaders are more honest with us than they are. No other leaders come to us entirely devoid of a personal agenda. There are simply no other leaders like them in all the world. Prophets receive revelation from the Lord for our day, our challenges, our dilemmas, our circumstances.”
Simply awesome. Sheri Dew has articulated so much of what I’ve thought in recent years. I will gladly choose to stand with and follow the prophets. It is clear to me, through reading the scriptures, that the Lord loves His prophets and that His prophets are a gift to us from Him. I have never been disappointed or let down because I chose to follow the counsel of prophets. Rather I have found joy, peace, and direction in my life. They truly are the mouthpieces of the Lord.
An extremely timely book for our day. I have been thinking about my own testimony of past prophets and a living prophet as I read from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Even though I have read these books numerous times, this year the need to listen to prophets have jumped out of the pages like never before. When I saw that Sheri Dew had a new book about prophets, I preordered it and read it as fast as I could when it came to my door. I want to believe in prophets and heed their warnings and counsel. I believe my life will be better if I do.
I loved this! I love the blessing of having living prophets on earth today and loved the points made in this book. It is a beautiful, faith strengthening book.
So many excellent insights into prophets and apostles. Love how she writes. Interesting and gospel -centered but not in a boring way. Kept me turning pages and glued to the book.
Loved, loved this book. It's no secret to anyone who knows me how much I love Sheri Dew. Before I got it from the library, I didn't realize it would just be short little gem at just over 100 pages. It is very easy to just sit down and read in one sitting, but I sat down and read a chapter at a time to have it sink in a little bit more. I especially love the personal stories and insight she shares having been in many in-person times with prophets. I loved how it was so organized and concise and despite the last few pages being slightly repetitive, loved loved this book. It helps, of course, that I feel just the same as her that I am so thankful to have living prophets on the earth today. This book just reconfirmed my own feelings of how prophets are such a blessing to me and everyone today if we just can live and follow and trust their counsel. I don't often buy books, but this would maybe be, for me, worth reading over and over again.
This book written by Sheri Dew is extraordinary! It’s a wonderful testament stating the reasons why we should follow the Prophet, and those who work with him as he speaks for God. The reasons why that I found most reassuring was the fact that prophets would never lead us astray, and that is so important especially when there are so many voices out there who want your support to follow them, and want our money!! It’s so vital that we leave them behind because they aren’t interested in our eternal salvation! Only God knows us as His children, and spiritually trains these church leaders to help us navigate us during these times!!
A quick and powerful read. One of the better church books I’ve read lately!! Highly recommend.

Short and powerful. Sheri Dew has had personal, professional, and ecclesiastical interactions with prophets for decades. She has seen the miracle of revelation and experienced hurt at the words of church leaders. She bears witness that modern prophets are called of God and makes a powerful case for why following their counsel is the smartest thing we can do.
A fantastic argument for why we not only need prophets but why it would be dangerous not to listen to them. Sheri Dew's up close and personal experiences with some of our prophets gives her valuable insight into why this topic matters. I marked several passages that were well stated and made me pause and think. A great read.
A book that gathers up and organizes so many thoughts, feelings, and questions I've had about prophets especially in the last few years. While moments feel a little "dry" or like an excerpt out of the Liahona magazine, the overall writing and message of the book are well presented and done. Reading this book strengthened my resolve to listen and heed what the Prophet has and will say, in addition go other divinely appointed church leaders. It has also strengthened my resolve to continue to council with the Lord in my own doings.
I really enjoyed the insights in this book. Some of the stories were repeats from Sheri Dew's book about President Nelson, but I still enjoyed hearing them again. The author reads the book herself. I've always admired Sheri Dew and loved her talks so it was fun to hear her read it herself.
Sheri Dew recounts her experiences with prophets of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as well as others of the church presidents. I especially enjoyed her portrayal of President Russel M. Nelson and issuing cell phones/tablets to missionaries.
I loved the experiences shared, the insights given, and the principles taught. I loved hearing Sheri Dew herself on the audio book. We really are blessed to have prophets living in our time, and to have great women leaders like this author as well.
The only thing I don't like about listening to a book is I can't go back and find my favorite parts easily. The author, Sheri Dew, reads the book - which I loved. It's a book I will read again and again.
This book deepened my knowledge, thoughtfulness, gratitude, and testimony of prophets. 1000x worth the read. Sheri’s experiences and testimony are powerful and poignant.
Loved this book! Short, sweet and concise just like Sheri Dew always is. “You cannot find the way if you cannot see the way” and as the title says, prophets help us see the way. Powerful and full and thought provoking quotes!
(Audio version) Sheri Dew does an admirable job squeezing lots of lessons into personal and telling experiences with or about latter-day prophets and apostles. The book is engaging and a strong witness to the blessing of living prophets in our day and for our benefit.
I love Sheri Dew and this book made me respect her even more. She included so many personal stories that give very sweet insight into the role of prophets. So grateful for her testimony!
★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will). ★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this. ★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad. ★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time? ★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.
If for whatever reason, I go back and reread a good book, I will change the rating to five-star because I read it again.
Loved this excellent perspective on the prophet and importance of having God mouthpiece on the earth today. Loved the perspectives she brings to this important spiritual call!
“If we want to fill the measure of our creation, if we care about doing what we came here to this earth to do, prophets are a vital key. Their words will help us find our individual missions and then fulfill them.”
