A biography of John Chapman whose distribution of appleseeds and trees across the Midwest made him a legend and left us a legacy we can still enjoy today.
Love Johnny Appleseed, didn't really care for this version of his story though. (like when he talks to the racoon. It was like they were trying to make him look crazy or insane.)

Ann Donegan Johnson has a great children's story of the classic tale of Johnny Appleseed. This is still the classic story we have grown to love for generations, it has just been re told by this author, and she does it well. Her illustrations are amazing with the style of cartoons that she uses, that I really think would capture and intrigue the eyes of children reading this book. Really great edition of the classic story of the classic tale.
Real or a made up legend, this is a fun story that looks at the man who planted trees throughout the land. Readers of all ages will enjoy the fun story and great illustrations, maybe even the story will help all ages to remember how important it is to protect our land and plant for future generations. I love this book and the others I have in the collection put out by Value Time.
After reading other bios of John Chapman, this one felt sparse. There are so many interesting episodes that could have been included. The text was quite long, as some from this series are.
What a hero Johnny Appleseed (Johnny Chapman) was! Bringing joy and food to the settlers with apples. Doing what we could to make sure that animals and people were treated with kindness. The love he showed others made him a legend. How we need more of that love in the world today! This is one of my favorite series for homeschooling history!
